Love is patient, Love is kind

I have been following this cancer pt via his web-site and wanted to share with you a post his mom wrote out this week. The child (brent) has a caringbridge page that you can visit yourself and witness the miracles first hand. I came across his page through a friend of ours whose child has cancer in another state. This is not anyone that I have ever met or even know through someone.
Apparently Brent is in his last stage of cancer and is not expected to live long. When he drifts off to sleep, he gets in these vivid conversations with God and his mom gets to hear them and then tells everyone what Brent is saying. I wanted to share this particular conversation because I was sooooo encouraged by it. It touches me beyond words and gives me hope.

Brent's Mom writes:
I've shared with you some of the amazing things he's said to God in recent days. YESTERDAY "took the cake!" I sat here eavesdropping on another conversation between Brent and God and got COLD CHILLS as I heard what he said. Brent was saying ............"Please God, I just want to see HIM ....... just for a second, I just want to see HIM!"That went on for a few minutes and Brent closed his prayer. I was a little awe-struck, but as the day went on I forgot the conversation I overheard. THEN, last night as he started to drift off to sleep he started to pray again. This time it was different. Brent was saying, "I'm SO SORRY, GOD!" I just wanted to see You ...... I'm SORRY I tried to look!" WHOA!!!!!! It's like Brent was standing in the room with God, having his conversation and being the curious little boy he is he tried to sneak a peek! I'm assuming that God told him that he couldn't see HIM ........ YET! Before his talk with God ended, Brent started to ask ............. "God, it won't be long will it?? Will it be long?" (I'm assuming he's trying to persuade God to let him go/see HIM then) Brent then paused and said, "That's what I thought, it won't be long."

I was born on this day one year ago at 4:24pm weighing 8lbs 12oz, 21.5 inches. I got weighed this week and I am now 23lbs 15oz and 31 inches. Boy have I grown!

Wanted to update everyone on Jonas's health. This past weekend we noticed he wasn't himself, even at his birthday party. Then on Sunday he had a fever. Come Tuesday when I picked him up from daycare, he was lying in his crib with no paci (and that is unlike him) not even crying. He didn't respond when I walked in to pick him up and he usually gets real excited. The daycare worker said he had eaten well, but seemed to not be feeling good. I passed him off to my mom and on the way back to her house, he vomited a few times while in his carseat. She was by herself and stuck in traffic and the vomit was everywhere. After getting cleaned up, he went down for a nap and woke again a few hours later and vomited again. Jason took him back to our house and he slept through the night. This morning he drank some pedialyte and then went back down for a 5 hour nap. We had a doctor's appt this afternoon and the doc seems to think it's just a cold and that Jonas being in daycare will cause him to continue with this crud stuff. We did get an antibiotic for his nose and ears, so hopefully that will relieve him long enough to enjoy his birthday and Christmas.
If you are a parent, you know that any little sickness can really irritate your child and can cause you to stress. I stayed home from work today until my mom got off to keep Jonas. He seems much better this afternoon!

My actual birthday is December 22 and will probably do something small on that day too. This was my big party though! I had a blast and fell asleep fast because I was soooo tired from all the fun. Thanks for sharing this BIG moment with me! LOVE, Jonas
p.s. oh yeah, i am wearing my daddy's t-shirt that was his when he was my age. i really like it and it's soft too. that means it is 28 years old!

Oh weeeeee! Tonight we celebrated my first birthday with close family and friends. Thank you for coming & making me feel so special. The theme was puppy dogs in honor of my pet Millie. We had cake, cupcakes, hotdogs, chili, and other fun goodies to snack on. There were great presents too, but I was not interested in helping mommy open them. I played with my friend Abby instead. Thank you for the clothes, leap frog activity center, walk/ride toy, puzzle, book, etc and so much more for me to get into. You guys are the best & I know that I am loved very much! Here are pictures of us celebrating. Mostly me eating my cake! Yummy!

The past 2 weeks have been so much fun to have my great-grandmother around. She has cooked lots of great meals including one of my new favs turnip greens. Yeah, I know that sounds gross, but I really like them. She also made tea cakes a couple of times and I loved snacking on them too. We went shopping together, looking at Christmas lights, and she helped keep me from getting into Su-su's cabinets. She also knit me the warmest blanket that will be perfect for me & my size. Thank you for taking the time to make it for me. Mamaw Dorothy, you give the best kisses! I love you and will miss not seeing you everyday!

We finally did professional pictures for Jonas turning 1 last weekend. EXCEPT that Jonas was soooo sleepy and fell asleep during the shoot. We were able to capture a few good pics of him.

What fun we had today! We went to a Christmas tree farm and cut down our very own tree. Dad is so strong and did a great job choosing our tree. I even got to help. What will I think about decorating it? You will have to find out later...... Okay, so I ended up falling asleep early tonight and mom & dad finished decorating the tree. I was dreaming about it though :)

I met Ava for the first time this weekend. Our mommies went shopping together and then we got to PLAY! We even traded kisses. Thank you for being so sweet while we shopped, Ava, and setting a good example for me. Maybe I won't cry so much the next time.

Of course these pics are not in the order they should be! We painted a dog on a plate using Jonas's feet as the ears for his first birthday party. Here are pics of Jonas getting his feet painted, putting them on the plate, and our final plate after it was fired. Our birthday theme this year is in honor of our pet Millie since Jonas loves hanging out with her. Jonas also likes to lie on her bed (which is gross) but it makes cute pics! We took 1year pics today and hopefully I will be able to put them on here soon.

Jonas had his swallow eval this past week and everything turned out good. Basically we need to introduce more solid/table foods on a regular basis. The speech path. has us feeding Jonas 4 solid meals along with his 4 bottles he gets daily. We don't quite make the 4 meals, but we are doing lots better. Jonas even started drinking from his sippy cup this week. He likes eating anything that you put in front of him. Some of his latest favs are chocolate pudding, buttery crackers, mashed taters, green beans, and peaches. Here are some pics of Jonas eating peas & rice.
