our day in the temple

We had a wonderful day in the Salt Lake Temple with Daryl's family. Deb was there as well. We went thru a session, Daryl's girls were there for baptisms. Their Stake was there. We had lunch there and then went to the chapel to hear the Temple Pres. speak. The temple pres. told of a Sri Lanka family there to have their family sealed together. They had 2 ch sealed to them. The youngest was a baby 8 mo. old. She cried the whole time. A temple attendant was holding her hand onto the parents hands at the altar. But when the sealer said the words sealing her to her parents she suddenly stopped crying and looked wide eyed at the sealer and then gave a big grin.
When Katelynn was sealed to to Tamara and Chris she was solemn but quiet the whole time. Debbie helped me remember the details. She sat on the altar and her hand was put on the parents' and she held her own hand there without moving a muscle and looked wide eyed at the sealer the whole time. The sealer was a little disconcerted because she was looked so intently at him. We all cried just watching her. These little ones I am sure have understanding far greater than we can imagine. I think they have it from where they came from.
Erika gave her going away mission talk in her ward and we were there to hear her. She is very excited about going to The Philippines and left for the MTC yesterday. She will be there was 2 mo. learning the language and then will spend 18 mo. in the Philippines. We know she will be a good missionary and her family will all be blessed while she is gone.

I need a picture of a bunch of peaches. We have been canning peaches as has much of the family. They are such beautiful ones. From the church orchard. They are wonderful and we really put up alot of them. So did Melissa with Becky, Tamara & Chris, & Tony & LaVerne. It is such fun to store that wonderful food in your storage and know you have those good things to eat this winter. We are very blessed to be where there is an abundance of such wonderful food.
We went to the temple yesterday too, even though my sister (& bro in law) has a cast on her foot from an operation. It was still good to go. We got a call from Alivia in Korea. We missed her call by just a few minutes. She is doing good and is happy there, enjoying her teaching alot. Erika is going on a mission to the Philippines the first of Oct and is so excited about it. She will be in the MTC 2 mo to learn the language. How about that Princess! I am sure she would like you to help her learn it. Love to all of you, especially to Scott and Jill who will be separated for awhile.
BOY, I FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. TOMORROW WE WILL HAVE BEEN MARRIED 58 YEARS.

We are continuing this little saga, Art and his many problems. He got the cast off his arm Wed and is receiving therapy. But he is losing 1/2 lb a day. Should be me. I'm the one that needs it. Won't somebody make things right? Well, he is exercising like mad and I am not so I guess that tells the story. We saw the pictue of his bones and his leg has lots of bone to grow and that is going to take about a year. His arm is really sore and weak too so he is not going to be to ambitious about doing a big job for awhile. His big job is exercise, exercise. He is inspiring me. I am going to get busy too. Maybe I can lose a little here and there. Wouldn't that me nice.
I just got word that my uncle, Mom's brother is interested in the church. That is also very nice. Love ya all.

More Broken Bones!

Well we are at it again!! Art broke his arm. He was taking a garbage can to the front yard over the bridge. He has his hand in the handle of the can and slipped and fell. Of course it broke his arm just above the wrist with a chip off in the joint. So he can't write, but he is beginning to walk fairly well. He is using a cane now. But he can drive again. Thank goodness. I don't do too well with him telling me everything to do while I drive. With all this going on we hadn't decided whether to go to the cabin for the 4th. Now we don't know whether anyone is going to want to go with us or not. Oh well, we shall see. We are having an Art Norton family get together during the 24th, that week. Many are coming for that. Daryl and family are coming the 7th. Their college girls wanted to bring some friends up so we will have plenty of company next week.

ART'S LEG

ART BROKE HIS LEG IN A BIKING ACCIDENT IN DOYLES TOWN PA. HE AND PETE WERE BIKING AROUND THE LAKE AND ART HAD TO GO AROUND SOME PEOPLE AND THEN THERE WAS A BIG HOLE HE HAD TO GO AROUND THE OPPOSITE WAY. HE THEN HIT SOME WET LEAVES AND WENT DOWN. LUCKILY HE PUT HIS LEG OUT TO CATCH HIMSELF AND IT TWISTED HIS LEG AND CRUSHED THE FEMUR. HE SPENT ALMOST 2 WEEKS IN THE HOSPITAL IN ABINGTON, PA. WE FLEW HOME WITH ART HAVING BEEN ADDED A ROD IN HIS LEG. HE IS BEING ATTENDED AT HOME NOW WITH VISITS FROM HOME HEALTH CARE. HE IS DOING ALRIGHT BUT IT WILL BE AWHILE BEFORE HE IS FEELING GOOD. WE HOPE IT WON'T BE TOO LONG BEFORE HE WILL BE REALLY HOPPING AROUND ON HIS CRUTCHES. AND THE DOC SAYS HE SHOULD BED ALL HEALED UP IN 6 WEEKS BUT WILL JUST THEN START PUTTING WEIGHT ON HIS LEG.
