Dueling Harmonicas

This took place in MI while we were visiting family for Christmas. Alex loves spending time playing the harmonica with his Great Grandpa.

26 weeks

Here's a belly pic at 26 weeks. The black overalls (courtesy of Aunt Marie) are very deceiving... I like it that way! I'm currently at 28 weeks.. 12 more to go!

I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by my friend, Bekah, to answer these questions. Usually I hate things that make me think too deeply about myself, but the pressure is on so here goes...

1). What's the most fun work you've ever done, and why? (two sentences max) My absolute favorite job ever was working at the pet store in Marion. I love working with and rescuing animals (except reptiles and arachnids) so it was the perfect job for me.

2A.) Name one thing you did in the past that you no longer do but wish you did. (one sentence max) Marching band is another passion of mine (Kristin... I want to go to that competition in Iowa this year if at all possible), and I wish I could be still march or at least play in a band.

B.) Name one thing you've always wanted to do but keep putting off. (one sentence max) I'll have to go with completing a scrapbook - still working on our wedding one from 7 years ago.

3A.) What two things would you most like to learn or be better at, and why? (two sentences max) I would really love to play the piano by ear and/or sight read better. I would also like to be a better cook.

B.) If you could take a class/workshop/apprentice from anyone in the world living or dead, who would it be and what would you hope to learn? (two more sentences, max) I can't think of any specific person, but think it would be really neat to learn to be an OB nurse or a midwife.

4) A. What three words might your best friends or family use to describe you? Friendly, realistic to a fault (sorry Kristin, I had to use this one too - guess that's why we both married dreamers), and patient

B. List two words you wish described you. Consistent and discerning.

5) What are your top three passions? (can be current or past, work, hobbies, or causes-- three sentences max) My family and getting this baby out of me as healthy as possible, reading, and animals. There are a couple of things I wish I could put here, but I can't say they are passions, yet. Maybe this year will be the year to move them into the top 3.

There you go Bekah! I tag Deven and Christy P.

Boots and Ribs

No, those two things are not related, just in case you were wondering.

I finally got to wear the new boots I got for Christmas. Just when I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever see winter here in Wisconsin, we got about 6 inches of snow Sunday night. Alex was thrilled to death to go sledding with Daddy after school/work on Monday. We had to drag him in after about 45 minutes because we were freezing! So was he, as the rosy red cheeks proved, but the typical 4 year old will never admit it.

As for the ribs, the baby has marked the 27 week mark by finding mine and seems to be totally enjoying kicking them. My upper abdomen is killing me as my organs are all getting shoved into my rib cage and pummeled on a daily basis.

Test Results....

Well, just got the good news from my OB nurse. I had the gestational diabetes test today and passed! My iron count was also within the normal limits. Not to mention the nurse was able to find a good vein on the first try. Last time it took 3 pokes in my hand and 2 nurses, as well as me almost passing out.

One more week and I'll officially be in my third trimester. 14 weeks (and yes I'm counting) until we meet little Colin! I'm feeling pretty good (despite the back pain that makes getting a good night's sleep rough) and have only gained 18 pounds. Unfortunately I didn't date my pregnant pics with Alex, but from what I can gather I was about the same size for him at this stage in the game. Must be a boy thing.

We'll try to get Christmas pics and videos up soon. Right now we're really busy with New Years Fireworks returns. Our new Director of Operations is on the road picking up the leftover product but should be back next week. Once I train him on the things I've been doing, I shouldn't have to darken the door of TNT for a few months at least. And even then it will be on a very part time basis!!! I've enjoyed the change in pace from teaching, but it will be nice to have a break from TNT as well.
