Lucy Goose

We found a place Lucy loves to get her haircut.

Happy Easter

First it was our neighborhood Easter Egg hunt. Tons of food, crafts, and games. It is always a highlight.

Charlotte Bean and her favorite Egg

cute little BrooksNext, we had Ali and Tenley in town for Easter this year. The annual egg hunt and Glo's grocery hunt were held at my Aunt Beth's. It was quite a feast with the traditional menu of ham, fried chicken and of course my personal favorite Schaum torte. We all had a blast looking for the infamous golden egg hidden by uncle Mike. It is always the scrappiest of competitions where the Johnstons and the Pews make fools of themselves trying to find this large Egg. The Johnstons usually win, must be those scavenging boys they have. Although, the Pews have had their years too. And if you don't know what the Glo's grocery hunt is then let me give you some history. Many years ago when we were very young our parents felt like we got wayyy too much candy on Easter. So to remedy they suggested to Glo and Blair that we do more snacky items, and fruit, etc. Well, it has become quite the hit. We all get new laundry baskets and our parents put out tons and tons and tons of baskets full of boxes of cereal, crackers, cake mixes, muffin mixes, snacks of all kinds, packs of gum, soda, etc, etc. Well okay it isn't as healthy as it once was, but the great thing is we come home with tons of groceries for our cupboards and my food storage is pretty full right now too. Sounds weird, but if you saw it you would be sold!
Then on Sunday after great church Easter meetings back up to brunch at my moms where she again out did herself putting on a great spread. Then we stopped by the Bells for a chat too. It was a fun holiday, and so great to have Ali here for a quick , but fun visit.

I love Easter. Always have. I was remembering last year on Easter morning Ryan took our little family to this great cemetery near our house to walk around and give a lesson on the meaning of Easter. In this cemetery there are many , many very large, and very old tombs. So we sat next down next to one, and he taught Rex and Lucy about what tombs are and about the resurrection. I really think it came to life for them , and Rex still talks about it all the time. It was a great way of showing very small children the meaning of Easter and about what exactly happened. This year Ryan was a little under the weather and missed most of the activities so we didn't get his infamous lesson....maybe next year.

Springtime update

We have had Tenley with us the last couple of days while my sisters baby is having heart surgery. Tenley is always so fun to have around. Her and Lucy have really become kindred spirits and we hope they will have summer little vacations to see each back and forth from San Fran to here. Tenley has been so adaptable and easy going. What a great kid!! AS for an update on baby Ashton. She is done with the surgery and is doing good. All looks well, and looks successful. She will be in the hospital for a little while now, and Amby and Tyson will be back and forth. They have been so amazing through all of this. And more so Tenley who has been shuffled around, and seems unphased.

My friend Elizabeth's grandmother died recently and she said that as her family was looking for pictures of her grandma when she was younger they couldn't find any with her and her children together. I have remembered that so here is a photo on my 30th Birthday with my kids. I had a great birthday. Thanks to all of you for making it a great day. Ryan did a great job of celebrating me that day. I had lunch with my sister, mother, and Glo up in Bountiful. I also loved the blog post. He is always so good at putting together something very unique and interesting. That night we went to eat at Cucina Toscana...which was so yummy. Thanks to my friend Erin who not only brought me a fabulous breakfast early in the morning for the big 30, but also watched my kids that night so we could go out. What a sweet friend. All in all turning 30 was less of a big deal than I thought. The only weird part is now when people ask how old I am, I say 30 (wow!). I still feel really young actually, except when I realize I have 3 children (also kind of crazy to me). I really never left the age of 24 in my mind.....and that was good age I have to say, but people say your thirties are your best years. Here's to that!

Yesterday I went up to Willard (yes, that is right, Willard...never been there before) to plant flower pots with my dear friend Erin and her mom Lori, who is an expert gardener. It was so fun. The nursery helps you pick out exactly what you need for your house as far as shade/sun and color schemes , and then we plant these little baby buds. The nursery will now take care of them until May when we pick them up and bring them home totally full and beautiful. Thanks to my mother-in-law , JoLynn, I was able to leave my kids and not be distracted and take a nice drive with my friend and her cute mom and have a great morning. This is a must do.

Photo Dump. Or: Cute Baby, Goofy Kids, and Scary Ski Mask Lady

We've got a lot of good photos laying around that we'll never write specific posts about, so I thought I'd just dump them here for public consumption. Enjoy!

First: Molly is eating food now!

Rex and Lucy are dressing up in strange outfits:

(Yes, those are Mickey Mouse ears)

(she's lifting her skirt to show the bright pink rain boots she wears to accentuate the gold ball gown and draw out the hot pink in the bike helmet)

Molly is still cute, and getting cuter:

And then there's that lady I rode up a ski lift with, the thought of whom still creeps me out a little:

And one of her less-creepy son:

And a slightly creepy picture of her otherwise nice nephew, the Fuhrer:

And one last one, tending Brooks Massey:

The Jensen Wedding Trip

Last weekend I went down to Phoenix to see my good friend Ryan Jensen get married. He found himself a fantastic match in Jody Havranek, and I can't recall ever feeling more happy for a couple upon seeing them get married. Here are a few photos from the trip.
