Liam army crawling and Miles busting a move!

Watch out world, Liam is on the move! He does the "army crawl" which is where he moves forward by pulling himself with his elbows with his tummy still on the ground and legs behind him. He's been doing it for a little over a week and he is getting faster every day! Miles started out the exact same way when he was 9 months and actually didn't do a real crawl until he was a year old. Liam has just recently started showing an interest in standing and holding his own weight. He isn't able to pull up just yet, but he sure wants to.

Here is a video of me trying to get Liam to army crawl and Miles dancing to Raffi.....I won't say who he gets his moves from.

8 teeth, 8 months

I need to amend my post from two days ago. Upon inspection last night we discovered that Liam now has 8 teeth! No wonder he tried shoving anything and everything in his mouth yesterday. Overall though he has handled teething like a champ. Let's just hope for easy molars!

what they're up to now....

I'm on a roll...two posts in one day!! It's embarrassing how bad I am at this blogging thing. Seeing as it's been 2 months since my last update, I figured I either needed to post or just give it up. So thanks if you're still checking in on us:)

Miles loves playing in his room while listening to music. He is quite the puzzle lover now....he's graduated from 12 piece puzzles to doing 24 and 36 pieces by himself and a new 48 piece with just a little help. I think Crystal and I are going to have to arrange a puzzle swap in the near future! I'll admit his idea of fun is a little different from what you may expect. This is what I found this morning......
If you look closely you can see that he placed each of his fruits and vegetables on the corresponding letters on his rug. And yes, his matching game cards could be arranged more perfectly. I have no idea who he gets this from!
Liam is still the world's easiest and happiest baby! At 8 months he is not crawling, but rolls all around the room to get whatever he wants. Hence the fact that Miles has to do his puzzles in his room! He is just recently starting to love books, especially Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Goodnight Moon. He loves puffs and cheerios and just about every kind of baby food he's tried. He is sleeping about 9-10 hours straight at night which I won't complain about! He still adores Miles, which is a good thing because I imagine that will change someday:)

Check out those teeth! He now has 6.

Is this not the sweetest picture?

sesame street live!

So I doubt there any readers still out there, but I'll post anyway:) This weekend we took the boys to Sesame Street Live at the War Memorial Auditorium in Greensboro. We all enjoyed it! Miles sat in one of our laps the whole time just because he couldn't see over the seats in front. It was a 90 minute show with one intermission and he stayed still and quiet the entire time. Liam is a big Elmo fan so he enjoyed it too, but probably not as much as looking over my shoulder at the people behind us. We weren't lucky to make it the entire show with out incident however. Liam gagged on a toy and threw up all over Justin about 10 minutes into the performance. It was extremely loud at times, way too loud for kids in my opinion, but miraculously he fell asleep for half of the show. We managed to leave with only one souvenir, a cd of the performance which we've already listened to about 10 times too many. Miles just had to get over the idea of having a $10 Elmo balloon! All-in-all it was a great experience and definitely worth the price of admission!

Yes, Justin was trying to cover his ears with the blanket!

so sneaky!

Miles knows that he can watch Blue's Clues at 7 am if he does not get up and yell (well, scream) in the middle of the night. Miraculously this has worked all week. He's also supposed to look at the alarm clock in his room and make sure it's at least 6 before coming in our bed. It was 5:45 this morning, but we let it slide.

From 5:45 on he was wide awake, rolling on me, rolling on Justin, and pestering us to watch Blue's Clues. "No Miles. It's not 7:00". He knows exactly when the clock on the cable box says 7:00 mind you. Oh, this just happens to be the first night since I don't know when that Liam hasn't woken up to eat yet, so I would have loved a little more sleep.

I don't know how the child did this in the pitch dark, but he took the remote and was messing with buttons. Next thing I hear, "Hey mommy. Look! It's seven-zero-zero on the clock". That little sneak had somehow managed to push 700 with the remote to make it look like 7:00. I almost fell for it until I noticed the : was missing between the numbers! Is it bad that our 2.5 year old is already conniving? This goes along with his latest trend; "Mommy may I please have a cookie?", "Mommy may I please stay up 5 more minutes?". Good thing he's so darn cute.

not to forget Miles

It may seem like Liam gets all the attention around here, but for those of you who don't know Miles very well that is SO not the case! I like how someone put it recently that he is intense. Whether he uses that intensity for good or evil, well...

Here are some recent Miles doings.....

He just read his first sentences all by himself last week: "Miles is a big boy. Liam is a baby."

He's learning to spell and read new words everyday.

He's an independent pottier now and is now going like a big boy standing up (tmi?)

Graduated out of the high chair and is loving it

Helps me make coffee in the morning and wants to be standing on a chair doing something in the kitchen whenever I am

Loves just about anything music or art related and amazes me with all the songs he now sings by himself

Doesn't have a paci anymore. YAAAAAY!

Hates having his picture made and deliberately avoids it so we don't get many good recent ones. Believe me, it's not because I don't try.

We went to the Greensboro Children's Museum this weekend with my dad, Rachel, Nando, and Luke. Miles had fun playing in the rescue vehicles. Notice he even has his firefighter boots on!
I told him this better be the only time I see him in the back of a police car!
As frustrated as I get with his terrible two tantrums, refusal to nap (currently in progress), clingyness, and stubbornness, he really is a sweet little boy and pretty awesome big brother.

5 months

It's been recently pointed out to me that my baby is getting close to 6 months and I haven't posted about 5 months yet!

Well....at 5 months Liam:

is still all smiles and laughs and has the best temperament

loves his new "chew" toy Sophie
babbles maaa, mama, and nana and sounds like he's saying hey, huh, and yeah

has one tooth in on the bottom and just cut the one next to itwon't stay on his back since he can roll over so easily
is liking the bouncy seat more since he can bounce himself (by kicking one leg...so cute)

still LOVES the song "Rum, Sum, Sum" (it calms him out of the worst crying fit)

just started to "tripod" sit on his own
still has not started solids yet, but loves sitting in his "new" highchair so he can hang with the rest of us

weighs over 19 lbs.!

And now comparison picture time.....
