I was going through pictures on the camera and thought I’d dump them all off on the computer and be done with it. But I realized I’m still trying to keep this ol’ blog rolling so here it goes…
My awesome dad really pulled through for me on a special project I needed. Since Téa was going to be getting the queen bed from the spare bedroom she was going to have to give up her bookshelf headboard which she loved. I mean LOVED! It is the perfect headboard. I looked around on the internet and decided I didn’t want to spend $200 on a new one and couldn’t find the perfect one on any classified ads online. So, I asked my dad if it was possible to make one. My dad has a sweet set-up at his ‘Man Cave’ where he can build pretty much anything. I’m pretty sure he has more tools than Home Depot. I gave him a picture of what I was looking for and the dimensions and we chatted on the phone a few times to hash out the details. This is what my mom delivered about 3 weeks later…

It turned out awesome! Exactly how we wanted. I told my dad we would be painting it white but as soon as Téa got wind of that she wanted nothing to do with it. She wanted the unfinished wood look. So, we gave her a paintbrush and some polyurethane and let her do the work. I still wish I could have convinced her to let me paint it white as it would have matched her room but she is at the age now where I have very little say in anything anymore.
Can you tell how happy she is with her new headboard? You did good Papa!

And this is what put a huge smile on my face… We finally have a real patio! No more 3 x 5 foot pad. We celebrated by having a BBQ the Sunday after we had it poured. Funny how concrete can make me so incredibly happy.

The other bonus to having the patio finally done is that I now have an 8 x 21 foot space I don’t have to weed anymore. Heaven. We also decided to do our workshop pad the same time to save money.

I’m sad that I lose half my garden but that’s less weeding I have to do as well. Can you tell I’m done with all the weeding? Mark’s excited, too since it means we are one step closer to his workshop.
The end of May came and went and with it the end of the school year. It’s happy and sad. The girls are happy to have a break and I’m sad that for the next three months all I’ll hear is “Mom, I’m bored” and “Mom, _____ hit me” (insert any one of my kids’ names) and my favorite “I’m hungry”. All. Day. Long.
I decided to do an end-of-year photo with all three kids. Not sure why. I guess for posterity purposes. And to show how much they’ve changed since the first day of school.

Why is it whenever you tell a kid to do a funny face they always stick their tongue out and try to cross their eyes?

Téa and I came up with a cool thank-you gift for her teacher. She loved her teacher this year. I was so impressed with her and thought she was amazing. The kind that left such an impression on Téa that she will always remember her. Unfortunately, Téa told me she is being transferred so we won’t be seeing Mrs. O’Neill again at Snow Springs most likely. Téa was super sad so I think doing this candy poster was therapeutic for her. She had fun putting it together and wanted a picture with it.

Consider yourself updated. Well, except for Piper’s Preschool graduation. That deserves its very own post.
