September is a month of many birthdays in our family. Boston is lucky enough to have his over Labor Day weekend. This year instead of trying to figure out what kind of present to get for a teenager, we skipped the presents and flew him up to his favorite place (Montana) to play on Lake Mary Ronan with his cousins. I'm thinking he looks pretty satisfied, and Cooper was happy to tag along! Thanks to Jake and Rach for the groceries and the good times for the weekend, haha.
Here's to making a splash this year in high school, my boys. Cause who can resist a face like this?
Or a face like this? Luke is our big Ham. For those of you who knew my grandpa Happy Jack, well...
Luke can get down to business, too. This year he was greatly improved in flag football--very intent on the game and what needed to be done. He played center and wide receiver and was lots of fun to watch. Here he is guarding his friend and classmate, Jaxon.
Here he is again, with our favorite ref Cooper in the background.
Leslie and Cole were nice enough to take Luke camping as a little farewell-to-summer getaway. Then they hustled him back home for his football game.
Boston went to homecoming and had a great time. He opted not to play football this year.
Taylor and Boston
Looks like trouble to me. Mark and I got to stand in line with Steve Young. It was comical to me because I used to have Steve's Got Milk ad inside my locker. I tossed it, along with my James Bond calendar, when I got engaged, haha. Too bad Sean Connery isn't going to show up randomly on our date night.
Rosie was ecstatic to have the sewing machine desk moved to her room. She spends hours a day drawing and playing with the characters she creates. We have been happy not to have reams of paper literally covering our kitchen table every day. What a great kid!
We took our two youngest on a cabin getaway one night, on the beautiful Bear River. So exciting to see moose! Saw lots of fish in the pond as well, but none of them would bite.
Don't know we have never heard of the falls on the Provo River, but they were gorgeous.
Luke had a great birthday with a party.
He really wanted a pinata, and to stuff the candy in it himself. As usual, it didn't break well, but we had fun wearing it later.
Macy was my honorary September birthdays baker. This was her creation for Luke's party.
Mark had a couple of business trips and we were bored without him, so for family night one night we went to this loopy trail to try it out with the scooters and bikes.
Rosie had some fun preschool fieldtrips, to the corn maze, the dentist, and the fire station.
Macy's friends helped with her huge bedroom makeover project that she has been saving up for. She wanted to go from lilac to white, black, and gold.
Leslie likes soft and cozy for sure. Meet Louie.
Rosie also had a great birthday. We celebrated with reams of paper and a pumpkin patch.
I wanted to replace Rosie's favorite blanket, given to her as a baby from our neighbor Robin. Robin said it wasn't very hard and encouraged me a bit. It's been fun to learn to knit (just don't look too closely, haha).
Although we were sad for our dear neighbors the Orchards to move, Mark was able to have a little rivalry fun at their closing. He even painted his face. (Almost brought the big light-up Y...)
It was darling watching Rosie trying to keep track of where she was in the "Knick Knack Paddywhacks".For fall break, we bit the bullet and took the kiddos to Disneyland. It was a lot of fun. Fantastic and very exhausting, but it was definitely an easier time to parent with older kids and smart phones. (Yeah, it's been awhile...)
Okay, so I may have been a little more afraid of Splash Mountain than Rosie was.
Luke and Cooper were nervous to try the Incredicoaster, but then they loved it and ended up going three times with Macy.
Rosie, looking at these pictures with me just now, said, "We have so many happy faces on our vacation!"
No, I didn't take the time to download the photos, but this one of Cooper cracks me up.
We'll be back. Eventually...
Double date with our favorites.
Rosie's preschool sang some great Halloween songs. I thought I recorded them but never hit the button. BOOO!The cutest little witch in town! And her brother the werewolf. The werewolf was very happy when Cole offered to take him trick-or-treating so that he wouldn't have to hang back with us slowpokes like last year.
I made a rather monstrous mess at the Halloween party and accidentally dumped a whole bowl of chili down Rosie's back. She didn't really notice until we were mopping her off (lucky, because it was pretty hot), but Boston couldn't stop laughing. He still can't hardly bring it up without busting up.
Cooper did not have a sport this season...officially. But he spent many many hours on the golf courses with his buddies. His friend Kali'i got a hole in one!!
We are still trying to get on top of Leslie's health issues and chronic pain, but here was a little levity at her Halloween appointment. Cole's "Guy" costume was a popular choice.
Leslie got to come help with the trick or treating. Look closely and you'll see her name on Rosie's ghostie pail.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
