TR's B-Day

Let me just clear some things up for everyone.  My husband has several names and I am in the habit of calling him by all of them.  I can't tell you how many times I have seriously confused people by doing that and I am sure there are still people out there thinking that I might be seeing a different man.  Aaron is his first name and TR is his middle.  It stands for Tex Ross which is after his grandpa's.  So if you hear me say TR, Aaron, Tex, or babe, just know that I am talking about my one and only husband.

Recently, my man, turned 26 (that's right, he married an older women) and we had ourselves a little adventure.  For Christmas I gave TR a GPS unit and ever since he has wanted to use it everywhere we go.  This is funny to me because he's lived in southern Utah all his life and knows exactly where to go.  I think it might be a man thing.  Anyway, I decided to incorporate this blessed GPS in his birthday celebrations so I set in the addresses of where we were going that night and pretty much let GG (yes, he's named it) lead the way.  Our journeys took us to Mesquite for some fine dining at Players where they have the best ribs ever and then onto Vegas for a fun filled night.  Little did he know I had all our bags packed and in the trunk when we left so let me just say, he was a little more than surprised to see where we ended up.  It was a blast!!

Ava Ava Ava

Check it out! My friend is starting a photography company called Living Art Photography by Jennifer Gillins. She took these pictures in our house when Ava was 2 weeks old and sleeping long and hard enough to put her in a bucket without waking up...Babies are so fun!

As you can tell I took this picture. It doesn't have the touch Jenny's pictures have but I LOVE it becuase it captures Ava's personality so well.

"I Have a Healthy Baby"

When my mom was in labor with my sister Lynette, she had the unfortunate luck of having a dual room. My mom had to listen to this poor women next to her scream and cry because her baby was born with a lot of problems. This scared the ever living crap out of my mom. When Lynette was delivered, the doctor handed her to my mom and said, "you have a healthy baby". My mom was so elated and relieved that Lynette was OK that she kept repeating hysterically, " I have a healthy baby, I have a healthy baby".

This past week I finally understood what she might have been feeling when she heard those words. Ava's newborn screening came back positive for Cystic Fibrosis. For those of you who don't know, this disease primarily targets the lungs and is fatal. The doctor called to tell me this and told me with all certainty that there were no more tests to preform and that Ava had this disease for sure...can you say devastating!!! Well fortunately, while we were loosing it, our family suggested getting a second opinion. We did so and after a trip up to Primary Children's, many blessings, prayers and pleadings, her tests came back negative!!! When we got the blessed news, I kept thinking to myself, "I have a healthy baby, I have a healthy baby!" Thank goodness for family, thank goodness for the Gospel and the Holy Ghost to prompt us to say and do things we wouldn't think of on our own and thank goodness for healthy babies!
