Well, I bought a Groupon deal a few months back to a specific restaurant for take-out only, since my plan was to pick up some favorite food for a specific friend who was having a hard time. I was excited and ready to go until I realized it was only for the restaurant in Lodi and NOT Folsom! Hmm, what to do? I tried selling it on Facebook. No takers. And then a couple weeks ago Lodi happened to be the butt of a joke...and in church of all places. I realized then that we should just make a family event of it and use the deal ourselves. :) SO, last Saturday, Matt was off and we headed to LODI, CA!
I've realized that I don't have nearly enough pictures of me and Caleb. Crazy, since we seem to spend almost every waking hour together. I just have to ask people more often to help out. I remembered and so here's a few. I couldn't choose cuz Caleb was being too cute!
I LOVE MY SWEET BOY!
After the drive and a little nap, we found a park by a little lake and headed outside for some sunshine!
I think that this bike is the best gift he's ever gotten...and perhaps ever will get! :) Worth EVERY cent. Thanks Mom and Dad! :)
The lake looked pretty from far away but the closer we got, the more we started to see why Lodi isn't the most sought after place to spend a day. The entire "beach" area was littered with mostly glass and other random junk. The water looked horrible as well. Yuk. We still hung around a bit to throw sticks and rocks.
Can you spot Caleb?:)
I can't get enough of beautiful clouds!
"Look what I got Mom!"
Yep, it's perfect for throwing in the water!
I kept moving further away to stay in the sun! :) Can you see Matt and Caleb?
There was definite beauty around, but there was also the smell of drugs here and there, a cop who drove by every ten minutes (hmm), people "cruising" through the parking lot (pretty funny actually since it was just a small town and one of the cars had a song blasting that sounded like Hispanic Polka!), and as we were leaving, two cops were stopped nearby talking to a lady outside of her house. Yeah, I don't think we'll be back to visit again just for fun.
We next drove through the old town to be sure we weren't missing anything. There was a statue of two people holding wine glasses, and two pretty cool archways over the streets, but only a few nice looking restaurants or shops. Half the building were empty. Nope, nothing worth getting out for. Except this GIANT GUMBALL MACHINE!!!! It was in the waiting area while getting our food.
And we found just enough money in my bag to get one! Caleb's first experience with gum! Of course he had to eat dinner first. :)
Before our "picnic in the van," we stopped at Walmart for a few things and Caleb tried out a few rides. His imagination is so active that he's never complained about not actually putting money in so they move.
We parked at the edge of town facing a field with the sun going down, and all climbed into the back of the van! The food was AMAZING!!!
Finally, gum time! He was really confused why he needed to spit it out and when to do it.
He was quite satisfied with the experience!
Take us home Caleb!!! Bye for now, Lodi.....and maybe forever!
