I lub you so much. **Updated**

Yesterday I was filling the car with gas. I put down the windows so I could still talk to Maylin and Kenzie while I pumped. Out of the clear blue Maylin said, "I lub you so much." I said, "I love you so much too and I love Kenzie so much." What had been a sweet smile on Maylin's face, quickly changed to a pouty face. She folded her arms and turned her face away from me and said, "I am mad." Trying not to laugh, I said, "Oh sweetie, why are you mad?" She replied, "You lub Kenzie so much. You can only lub me! You are only my mom." Well, I guess I have been told. Here are some pictures of Maylin and her two buddies. There are only boys on our street to play with, but man, they are the best of friends. They both adore her and treat her like a queen. Here is the gang on a ride with dad. They also ran through the sprinklers yesterday together.     I just had to add that this morning Maylin and I were sitting on the couch snuggling. Alex c...

Last day of school

Last Friday, the 22nd, was my kids' last day of school. I am just getting around to posting them. Austin won a medal for winning the all school debate and for winning the debate that the school attended with public schools. We are so proud that Austin was the top winner in both events!! Kenzie scored awards in math, art and choir. Alex got the award for bringing the most heart to 4th grade. I love the picture of Alex and his teacher. He is taller than her, obviously and she was even wearing heels. The kids are already missing their teachers. They had such a great year.         Austin had Mrs Updike for core, Mr. Haymond for Spanish, Mrs. Hancock for Choir, Mr. Beckwith for Debate, Mrs. Parry for Drama, Mrs. Logan for Biology, Miss Lawyer for Geometry, Mr. Latimer for History. McKenzie had Mrs. Scanland for core, Mrs Updike for mentoring, Mrs. Brinkerhoff for History, Miss Lawyer for Math, Mr. Miller for Science and Mrs. Jesperson for PE. Alex had Mrs. Knight! We love...

Rainy Sunday Evening

It rained all night and morning here. By 2:00 it was sunny and nice, so we drove to the two cemeteries where my grandparents are buried. They are in cities about 20 minutes from us. It was so wonderful to have the sunshine while we were there. I had a great time telling my kids about some of the memories I had about my grandparents. It was a nice outing. By dinner however, the rain came back and it came HARD. I ran for cover, but the kids didn't. They layered clothes and found their umbrellas and in Jay and Alex's case a brand new trash can. They had a blast running through the downpour. Austin sat on the lawnmower under the porch and serenaded us with his guitar. Maylin said she had wetness all over her face. And that she did.         I spoke in church today. Maylin didn't like that much and kept running away trying to get to the stand. When she wasn't running she was calling me. Needless to say Jay took her out in the hall. When I finished I went back down to the c...

Party like a rock star.

The 9th and 10th grade from Austin's school came to our house for a end of summer bash. We had 28 kids. They came at 4 p.m. and the last group left at 11:30 p.m. We BBQ, played b-ball, volleyball, roasted s'mores, played night games, watched the "Emperor's New Groove", jumped on the tramp, played Rockband and had an over all GREAT time. They are a great bunch of kids. You can click on any of the images to make them bigger. Thanks for coming everyone. We had a great time.

Day off happenings

1. bath....by myself, with no one knocking. 2. walking...no stroller, no "come here kids" 3. hair cut. 4. face wax - since Maylin used her new phrase on me, "you got not by da hair of my chinny chin chin." 5. walk through the new Ethan Allen furniture store by my house 6. lunch (met Jay and Maylin) 7. Mall for some summer clothes shopping 8. grocery store 9. day off over It was great! Also, has any one seen a chicken? It is very beautiful with golden, reddish, brown feathers and it lays blue eggs. We discovered today that our Aracuna is missing. We are devastated. We had some teen boys help us clean out our coop. We are wondering if it ran away then or if it was accidentally killed in the line of cleaning.

Day off

Jay is giving me the day off. He took the day off so he could watch Maylin and do carpool and everything else I do as a Mother, so I could have a free day!! Woot Woot!! He said since the kids are out of school Friday, I would need it. Isn't that sweet? I will post what I do when my day comes to a close...which will be at 6- I have to take dinner in to a family on our street. The hubby of that family had heart surgery. I'm off to a day ALONE!!!

Let me guess. She's three.

Jay and I went on a "date." If you could call it that. We went to the mall to get several gifts for baby, wedding etc. I also wanted to look for a skirt. We had to take Maylin. No one of age at our house was at home. Instead of us doing what we wanted, the little girl with black hair took over. We didn't mind at first because she is so cute and it was fun to watch what she would come up with, but after an evening of it....not so cute. This girl loves to shop. I think we are in trouble. At the mall she asked and then demanded and then ran off to the escalators so she ride them. After several trips up and down she was ready to move on. She spotted a shoe store first. She darted to it and tried on TONS of shoes. Mind you the only shoes she picked to try on were the ones with 4 inch stiletto heels that were BRIGHTLY colored with some funky pattern or wild shine or some gadget on the toe. When she tired of that she hit a jewelry store and several clothing stores that had ...

Ultrasound results

The doctor finally called today. They can't see anything. Everything looks good. So, they believe the blood clot was a fluke. The vain is still big in that spot, but it feels different than it did, so she is thinking that is just the shape of his vain now. The tenderness gets better everyday. If he has another incident they want him to see his cardiologist. We are so relieved it looks like it was a one time deal. We are glad there are no reasons to have another.

Festivities at our house

Today we worked in the yard from 1:00 to 7:30 p.m. We are pooped. We feel like we have worked and worked, yet there is still so much to do. I moved my strawberry patch. We dug up the old one so we can expand the garden. We had some teenage boys in the area help lay new bark. Our kids weeded two neighbors' yards for cash. I guess to get paid is more fun than working for room and board. I do have to say that the yard is getting there though. Tonight Maylin made a "sideawalk" out of tin foil. She would run up and down the path and yell, "I got a sideawalk." Very creative.

Happy Mother's day

I know my mother is looking at this post, cursing me for posting pictures of her. She doesn't like pictures of herself. I on the other hand, happen to love photos of her. I think she is beautiful and I always have. When I was 5 my mother was in a horrible bike accident and her left side of her face was left paralyzed. She was also left deaf in that ear. Her biggest loss was her smile. She only can smile with the right side of her mouth, and from what I hear, her smile was beautiful. She has always been self-conscious of it, but I think she is beautiful because it is who she is and it is what we are together. To me her smile is perfect, whole and complete. Her accident came when my brother and sister were married or off to college. I was 5 and left with much of the care. My sister helped when she was home, but the day to day things were mine. I will never forget having to hook her face up to a battery and helping her shock her nerves, seeing if they could be stimulated to wo...

An update. Sort of

Austin had his ultrasound. We won't know anything until Monday or Tuesday. They said they didn't see anything that would cause them to have immediate alarm. GOOD! The bulging vein was back yesterday along with a new spot in his shoulder blade. The doctor saw it so that was good. So no news, is good news

Guess where we have been?

Last night about 9 p.m. Austin showed me a spot on his arm. It was really his vain. It was huge and bulging. When I would touch it, it felt thick and slushy. It was very tender. I gave him another one of his aspirin that he takes and had him put heat on it. By 10 it was still bad so I had Jay run him to the instacare to just check it out. The doctor thought there was a very good chance it could be a blood clot considering Austin's past. Jay called me and said he was on his way home to get me and we were heading to the children's hospital. The doctor at the instacare had called the ER to let them know we were coming. Luckily my sister-in-law was spending the night with us. She watched Maylin and the others! Thanks so much Steph and sorry for the lack of sleep. At the hospital they ran clotting tests and did an EKG. They couldn't find anything that showed he was throwing clots and by that time the spot on his arm looked and felt so much better. They have decided that they wan...

Weekend happenings

Its raining, again. There was a lot of yard work planned for today, but with the rain we have taken our chores inside. Jay worked on a leaky faucet and cleaned his bathroom. Its the first time he has cleaned a bathroom in 9 years. I did laundry, the kids did their assigned jobs and Maylin took to feeding herself since we all were busy. She was so cute drinking right from the carton! She has also spent her day telling all of us what Jesus said. For example, "Mom, Jesus said I can ride a horsey." "Jesus said I can go to school." There is also a picture of Maylin's perferred riding style. She loves standing straight on Jay's shoulders. Its been a good day.
