A date with a 19 year old (holy cow), a first dance, chaperon and Christmas lights.

It was the Homecoming dance at Kenzie's school. Everyone 14 and up can go, but only those 16 and older can bring a date. Unfortunately  Kenzie didn't get asked....even though I spent a lot of time asking Heavenly Father help some boy ask her. I was bent out of shape about this at first, but apparently He knows more than I do. Things worked out better than ever imagined. On Wednesday of last week, we went to Austin's best buddy's house to watch him open his mission call. He is going to El Salvador by the way. He has always had a special place in our heart. After that night, Kenzie decided if she didn't get asked by Friday, the day before the dance, she would call Austin's friend and ask him to be her date. No offer came.....even though I had been praying. So, she called Tyler. He said he would love to go with her! Hurrah! He drove her and took her to the dance. They had a great time. Just being friends and knowing each other for years...

Pink room complete! Tech savvy 6 year old and where did my little boy go?

After some minor, and  one not so minor adjustment, the pink palace is complete! One big adjustment that made the greatest impact, was having another wall painted in the dark pink! This dark pink on a second wall really took away the glare we were getting! No more blinding pink. Fabulous. We also found a bedspread, a wrought iron wall hanging, a shelf etc.....these little details have made it an incredible room! It is warm and inviting! On the Maylin front, she is hysterical! Her way with technology is also amazing! Man can this girl text, email, download apps and songs etc. What have we created? Enjoy the pictures she took of herself on my phone. Also, Austin sent a picture to us recently. We were all shocked by how much he had grown. Kenzie made this side by side picture that she calls "The before and the now". Tell us if you think he has changed. A girl loves her crown....and a cell phone with a camera! ...

Pink Panther Pink for a Paris Palace

The painters came this week and painted Kenzie's room. One wall is Pink Panther Pink and the other 3 are puppet pink. Wow. Its pink. The painter said he thought it looked like Pepto exploded. Who cares what he thinks, Kenzie LOVES it. I do have to say, the light pink is a bit hard to look at at certain times of day. The light really makes it blinding. Once we got up the accessories, it helped tons! We are debating on whether or not we will have the painters come back and do one more wall in the darker pink. I have a decorator coming tomorrow to give me her opinion and I am trying to figure out what to do above her closet on this HUGE open space, it is where her name used to be. I am also wanting help with a sheer around her bed posts and maybe a curtain on the top rounded part of her window....just to frame it. I don't know. Thus why I called this lady. She will come and look and talk to me for free, so why not! Here is the room so far. More pictures as we finish it. I just...

My baby boy can't be 14!

It was Alex's birthday on Oct. 29. He turned 14. I can't believe he is that old. It just seems like the other day I brought him home from the hospital. He has been a blessing to us from the start. He has always been BIG, but his stature matches his personality. He makes us laugh. He is so spontaneous. He loves life and loves to try new things. He doesn't let things get under his skin. He just goes with the flow. We always say that Alex just beats to his own drummer. Its true. He doesn't care what other people think. He just does what makes him happy. Alex found a picture of a Cookie Monster cake on the Internet. He texted me and said, "Make this for me." So I did. I added crushed Oreos to the middle filling.....delicious. I think I did a great job. It turned out so cute and it was delicious. It was my dad's birthday that day too! He turned 84. I am so glad they share the day. Alex's middle name is Glenn, after my dad. I hope Alex lives like my f...
