Look at them rock!

Mom: Look at the next post for your links. This past Friday was the kids' annual Dance Festival at their school. It is so fun each year to watch. This was this Maylin's first year and she was so excited about it! She even got out the uniform she was supposed to wear at the dance the night before. Her grade performed the Mexican Hat dance. She practiced so much at home! She was jumping so high during the performance at one point she fell on her bottom. She was so cute. She is wearing the green sash. Alex takes ballroom so his dance was the cha-cha. He did well, but I don't think he smiled once. I don't know what the deal was.  The teachers all do a dance. This year it was the Paso Doble. It was hysterical. They always do a great job.

Earthly Father, Heavenly Father

It is our anniversary today. Twenty-three years. This anniversary has been a sad one as we look at the difficulties facing us as parents. For parents, our house has been a sad one this past day or two. It is hard to watch a child suffer. It is hard to know you have made mistakes. It is hard to keep trying and to keep up the faith that things will work out. But, as it is our anniversary, we do it together. At least I am not alone. I found this video this morning as I was looking up some scriptures. It is an honor to be a parent, even though it is hard. And luckily I have a husband, and a Father above who will hear me. Souvenir

We got some more pictures from the principle today. Every one of the pictures with Kenzie in it also has this boy right by her side. He is one of the students in Mexico, at least he has to be as I know he isn't one from our school. This picture, they look a little friendly. I wonder if his heart is her souvenir........ Also, Alex had a b-ball game on Tuesday. They played a team whose coach played in the NBA for 13 years. Needless to say, they were really GOOD. The first time we played them our team lost by 49 points. In the game on Tuesday, we made them nervous. We only lost by 28 points. Alex scored 8 points, had a couple of great blocks and about 15-20 rebounds. There are pictures below. Kenzie and her friend. I can't wait until she gets home and I get the scoop. He is cute.

"Heaven forbid Copperfield."

Alex just finished reading David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Being over 700 pages, that is a great feat for anyone, let alone an 8th grader. They read it for school. To celebrate the completion, they had a David Copperfield celebration where they watched the movie (the one with the actor who played Harry Potter) and had a Victorian inspired lunch. I was in charge of the lunch. We had bangers and mash (our version was little smokies and mashed potatoes) with toasted cheese bread (Dicken's favorite food) and a fruit punch based on Mr.  Micawber's punch he always drank with lemons in the book. We also had grapes and fruit trifle for dessert. I found an awesome mother to do the decorations. She was amazing! Some of the kids dressed up for the event. It turned out well, but I came home and took a nap. Kenzie is in Mexico with her school on a humanitarian project, just like Austin did a few years ago. She is at an LDS private school outside of Mexico City....

18 degrees......I'm tired of the cold!

Mom, this is for you: www.austinmission.blogspot.com Where we live, it hasn't cracked above 28 degrees for weeks. For awhile there, it didn't even crack the double digits. I know I am not the only one suffering from the cold, but this is my blog so I will be the one that complains about it. Seriously, the snow is great for water, but you can have snow and have it be a bit warmer. Really. You can. Enough of that. I have lots to catch up on. I finally have my new computer. It is pretty cool, but getting used to Windows 8 is rough. I don't like technology change. But, I am back! With pictures. Kenzie is leaving in the morning for a humanitarian trip to Mexico with her school. They are going to a private school to do work down there for them. They are redoing parking lots and painting etc. They are also working in an asylum for men. The will work with the youth at the school doing other activities like quilt making, talent shows, firesides etc. When ...
