Prom 1 and 2

Alex invited a girl to prom for April 18 and she invited him back to her prom one week later. I chaperoned his dance and got great pictures and had fun watching them. He took her (along with a big group of friends) to a ranch where they played games and had a BBQ. Then they parted ways and the girls got ready and the boys got ready and met up again for dinner at Macaroni Grill and then headed to the dance. Also, it was his date's best friend that was killed in the car wreck a year ago. A drunk driver hit her. She was Alex's ballroom dance partner too. It was her 16th bday the day of prom so they went to her grave and took pictures before the dance. Her family had decorated with a great balloon arch. The next week, she took him to breakfast at her cabin (with a group) and they went 4-wheeling until it was time to part to get ready. Then they went and ate and went to her dance. They are now "dating" and I am struggling with that whole pairing off thing. Ugh.....why do...

Experimental Learning Week

At the school, each year they take a week where the kids can pick a field of study and they spend a week fully absorbed in it. Last year Alex and Kenzie did art. This year, Alex chose physical fitness. They did yoga classes, spin classes, archery, soccer, volleyball, aerobics, healthy eating, foots-all, ...to name a few. Each day he would get home from school and crash. They worked hard and played hard. They learned a lot of great things. I went to the school one day when they had these inflatable bubbles that they could get inside and play games in. They played red rover, soccer, king of the hill etc. They kids loved just plowing each other over. It was a hot day, so the sweat was flowing. They loved it, but wore themselves out. Here are some great pictures. They had a BBQ on the last day. Here some of the boys in the class are loading the teacher's grill back into the truck.
