This might be a strange post to you, but I thought of this tonight as I watched a movie with our family. So many movies and stories I imagined or dreamed I was playing that part. I thought I would write a few of the things, mostly to remember them.
I dreamed I was like Natty Gan (the movie we watched tonight) and running through the forest with a wolf that was my friend and not trying to eat me.
I dreamed I was like Jim in the Man From Snowy River and jumping off a cliff with my horse and feeling the wind as we raced down the mountain. We were brave. And I did not hit any branches and get knocked off the horse.
I dreamed I was like Pocahontas and jumping off the cliff into the water--diving--long and beautiful. Don't try to reenact that when you are about 12 on a trampoline. The trampoline comes much faster to your head that you might have previously anticipated.
I dreamed I was like whatever that guy's name is in Chariots of Fire when they are running on the beach. I am fast. I am unstoppable. I might wear a bit longer shorts than those guys had on, but I would keep up with them. And I wouldn't run on Sundays either...
I dreamed I was Anne of Green Gables, creative and imaginative, living adventures, smart, and going off on life adventures.
I dreamed I was like the kid in Searching for Bobby Fisher who was awesome at chess. It was inspiring when I was younger.
I loved the Mighty Ducks, Free Willy, and shows where they did awesome things and overcame odds.
I realize know that I want to write and live my own dreams. For I have a lot floating in my head. I am so blessed. I am so blessed to be able to have the time to do some of the things I want to, even if it comes in small pieces, small moments between watching children and cleaning. But, I couldn't have a better dream than my family, or a better adventure.
Two more things
There were two more things I wanted to add about this last little while.
1. Last Friday Nathan had to stay home from school because he was sick with a fever. Mary had to go to the bus alone and I walked outside with her, holding Eli. I was in my pajamas still, the morning are kind of crazy at times. She was nervous to go. She had gone the day before because Nathan was also sick on Thursday, but it was a little bit hard for her. This Friday, I couldn't get her to go. I told her encouraging things like how she did it the day before. We talked about how it was okay to be nervous, but how she would feel better, etc. She is such a sweetheart. She made it across the street. Then, she couldn't move. I didn't know what to do. I was in my pjs, holding Eli, with a sick kid or more, and I didn't know what to do. I said a prayer. An older girl who lives a few houses or so down from us came up, saw Mary having a hard time, put her arm around Mary and helped her walk to the bus. I never asked the girl to help, the girl just saw and helped her. My heart was touched for the answer to prayer and the gratitude I felt for someone being kind to my child.
2. Nathan started asking me questions about what the least dangerous animal is. Our conversation went something like this.
Nathan: Mom, what is the least dangerous animal?
Me: A hummingbird.
Nathan: No, it can peck you.
Nathan: What is the least dangerous animal?
Matthew: A worm.
Nathan: No, it can do something...can't remember right now.
Nathan: repeats his question.
Me: A fish.
Nathan: No, it can flap in your face.
Nathan: repeats the question.
Me or Matthew: A bird
Nathan: It does something to the flowers and (maybe this one was the flap in your face, I can't remember now for sure.)
I finally realized that he was searching for us to answer in a specific way. He had already figured out what he wanted us to say, I was thinking. So I asked him.
Me: Okay, what is the least dangerous animal?
Nathan: A camel.
Me: Why?
Nathan: It does not have to drink for a long time and things like this.
I thought about and probably mentioned I think I did, how a camel can stomp on you, etc., but no, it is apparently the least dangerous animal.

The last little while
Nathan was encouraged to pay his tithing. He mentioned he paid his tithing last time and so maybe he didn't have to this time. Matthew said we pay it every time. Nathan asked: Okay, can we just make it 5% though?
He is really good at paying tithing and doesn't sound too negative about it though really. :)
Mary knocked on my door the other night. "Mom, can you warm up my watermelon?"
I explained you don't have to warm up watermelon.
We were watching How To Train Your Dragon and Mary turned to me and said something like "Mom, I bet Hiccup's BFF is Toothless." I believe she is putting the so-called boy show into terms she understands...haha.
I got stung by a bee a few weeks ago in my own living room. At first we didn't know what it was, but my hand was stinging and all I saw was this little black thing in my hand. My hand kept stinging for a while. Later we found a bee.
