Potty Training 101

Jackson has been using the potty sporadically since summer. But, we can't seem to get any consistency! The time has come for us to get down to business. So, we have purchased all of the essentials- Cars pull-ups, Diego big boy underwear, pee-pee prizes, and cheerios (we heard that little boys like to have a target). He doesn't really like the pull-ups anymore than he likes diapers, but he loves the Diego underwear. However, he doesn't like to wear anything with them. It's so cool to have Diego on your booty! Check out how big he looks!

Unfortunately, the actual potty is not near as popular as the Diego undies. He has figured out that "I have to go poo-poo" gets him out of bed at bedtime and "I have to go pee-pee" gets him out of the highchair at restaurtants. But, today was a fairly successful day (which resulted in a prize of some well-liked jungle animal stickers), so hopefully he is getting the hang of it. One day at a time!

This Weekend

This weekend was pretty laid back. Saturday we went to get Jackson some new shoes and then Saturday night was girls' night with the neighbors, so Jackson stayed home with Daddy, Jeff, Ella, and Brody. Then Sunday, we went to brunch with Melanie, Jesse, and Olivia. Olivia was such a sweetie and tried to give Jackson kisses, but he played shy and wouldn't let her. One day he's going to regret that he didn't take full advantage of that! Here are some pics below.

The kiddos with Uncle Jesse...hehehehe.
Look at that pretty girl- what was Jackson thinking??

All week Jackson had been asking to go to Chuck E. Cheese. I guess he saw a commercial or something. So, Sunday afternoon, Paw-paw, Gigi, and Tata took Jackson to ChuckE. Cheese. I would love to post pictures, but Jackson's trip was short lived. Chuck E. Cheese himself was making his rounds and Jackson was scared to death of him! He started crying and grabbed a hold of Paw-paw's legs for dear life. He has been repeating "Chuck E. Cheese is gonna get me" all evening. I think we will wait a while before we attempt that again!

Just a few updates on what Jackson is doing these days: He talks non-stop. Seriously, non-stop. It seemed as if overnight he just started telling us everything. He sings every song he hears now (although he tends to skip a few words). He has his ABCs mastered and he counts to 10. He is obsessed with bumblebees. He has been at this for a while now, but he thinks that every bug is a bumblebee. If he sees a spider, I will tell him "Jackson that's a spider" and he tells me "No, Momma, that's a bumblebee". I try to correct him, but he is so certain that it's a bumblebee and it's so dang cute to hear his little voice say bumblebee that I just let it be. His latest demand is "Momma/Dada, hold me!"
The other night after we put him to sleep, Nathan went in his room to check on him and he was sitting in his bed reading a book. He told Nathan "Dada- I read book...close door". He is getting so independent!
I don't know how ready he is to be a big brother yet. He doesn't like to talk about the baby much and last week he gave my tummy one kiss and then quickly put my tummy away and said "Bye, bye baby". We read the Big Brother book several times a week, so hopefully he will be ready by the time Hudson gets here! The other day he pointed to Nathan's stomach and said "Momma- there's Dada's baby!" Hahaha!

Jackson's Little Gym program was on Friday. He got to perform all of his gym tricks for Paw-paw. He loves the bubbles!
Here he is with his teacher receiving his ribbon. Gigi takes him every Friday on their day together. He is getting much braver!

Clean Up, Clean Up

Jackson helping Mommy wash dishes. His latest thing is to "help momma" while singing "clean up, clean up...everybody clean up". Too bad he still messes twice as fast as he cleans. But, that's okay. At least he's trying!

Boys' Night

I have probably mentioned it before, but we live on the best street in the world. Seriously, it is a haven for kids and young families. We now have a monthly boys' and girls' night out where once a month the dads go out and the moms stay home with the kids and then the moms go out another weekend and the dads are on kid-duty. Well, this Saturday was Boys' Night Out, so the moms took the kids to eat and then Gabriel came over to play with Jackson. These pics are at our house after the devil had extracted himself from Jackson's body. Satan is the only explanation for the way Jackson behaved at the restaurant. Ella and Gabriel sat quietly in their seats and colored while Jackson refused to sit in his highchair, screamed bloody murder when he was forced into the highchair and proceeded to escape out the side door of the restaurant several times. Mom was not happy. But, as you can see, he was fine once we got home. He and Gabriel built a fort out of the playroom sofa and put all the toys inside. They thought they were so cool inside the fort! However, the devil returned once Gabriel left and it took me way over an hour to get Jackson to stay in his bed and go to sleep. We like it much better when dad is home to lay down the law. Evidently, mom is seen as a bit of a push-over. I know, hard to believe.

These boots are NOT made for walking!

These are Jackson's boots...from last year. Last year he wouldn't have anything to do with them and we only got him on his feet one time the entire season. Well, this year we can't get him to take them off. The only problem is that these boots are a size 5 and Jackson wears a size 8 (almost a 9). So, he has to walk bow-legged and limping all around the house. He doesn't seem to mind though. He loves his boots! (P.S. Please excuse the cheetos all over his face).

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year everyone! Here's a few pictures from last week. The first few are from Jackson at the "cool park" and then some from our visit to Ethan and Audrey's house. We were rockin' out to the Hairspray soundtrack in Audrey's room. We had lots of fun...and ate way too much candy.
The holidays were fun, but we are definitely glad they are over. Time to get back into the swing of things and hopefully get Jackson back on some kind of schedule again. We are looking forward to an exciting 2008.
