The Love of My Life

I don't know if any of these pictures of Jed and me have actually uploaded, but I think the video works! I'll give it a shot:

Christmas 2011

This is a close-up of the advent calendar Grandma Klaiss made that we display and use with care every year ... I took the pictures in this collage for posterity, and because I need to know what each of the ornaments looks like in case one gets lost--I can not believe it's gone through this many children without any of them being lost! Amazing! ... Big shoes to fill!
HA!!!!! These pictures CRACK me UP! (Well, Reece's does ;) I love Santa's face, like "What do I do now?!"
Tagg got some special Star Wars gifts at Christmas this year: a Jedi robe that Daddy secretly got at Disney World to commemorate his Jedi Training (details on that in a later post), an Anakin Lego watch, and a very hard-to-find Mace Windu purple light saber! Oh yeah, and about 99-67-72-7 Ghirardelli Peppermint Squares (a number Tagg would use in describing the huge amount of them filling his entire stocking!).
It's amazing how much bigger Reece was in 2011 than in 2010! She did a little rearranging in Grandma's decorative sleigh--She is much cuter than pinecones, so what can you say? :)
Grandma McClure sent Reece a Jessie doll and Reece loved it! It coincided perfectly with a Toy Story fetish that lasted months and hundreds of viewings! She'd ask for it by saying "Buh-ee? Wuh-ee?"
And a lot of us chipped in to get Jed the Star Wars Lego Death Star :)
Jed gave me some thoughtfully picked out clothes from a shopping trip with my Mom!
But of course, the best part was creating the magic of a day to celebrate Christ, each other, and gratitude for the abundance we have. I have such fond memories of the magic our family brought to Christmas, and it's fun to be on the grown-up side of things to create that for our kids.

Christmas 2010

We went to downtown Genoa's Christmas celebration! It was Freezing! And Jed carried his littlest girl in the sling--first time slinging :) That was fun to see!

We went to visit Grandma Stansbury at Christmas time and we tracked down Santa to get a picture.
Later on that month, Santa visited Grandma and Grandpa Klaiss' house! That's always really exciting!
After a while at Genoa's Christmas, Jed drove over to hang out with Grandpa in their warm house! Grandma, Tagg, Reece and I met up with them a while later.
We have all Loved the privilege it is to have the advent calendar that Grandma Klaiss made for my Mom and Uncle Stan when they were little. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas for me without that!
Reece's first visit with Santa!
Tagg has-his idea-helped me put up and take down the tree for two years now--he is dang good at it, too! He actually likes that much better than putting the ornaments on; he usually gets bored with the ornaments after like five of them.
Sharing everything with family is so much better! Thank you for all the time you give to us, GGK!!

The Sweeney

Once upon a time, the McClure family lived in Arizona. And while they were there, they met a wonderful missionary named Sweeney. They became great friends and Sweeney came back to visit them many times.
Every visit included soccer in some form :)

One visit took them from their new home in Illinois to a peaceful cabin in Brown County, Indiana. That trip was full of so much fun that the littlest members of the crew didn't stay awake long enough for their food to come: a sweet memory.
A walk down the creek was a lot more fun for Sweeney than tubing down the Kishwaukee River (even though on the river he had himself a big stick/oar/weapon of self-defense/depth finder :) -- maybe that was because Brigham came too, or because there were lots of rocks to skip, or because he could see the bottom through the clear water... or because Jed wasn't [fake] trying to flip his tube over the whole time.
Above: The cabin (named Two Dogs A Dreamin')
Tagg sure loved being with Sweeney :) When the McClures went back to the cabin as just the four of them (plus Brig), Tagg asked where Sweeney was!
Are fireworks legal in Indiana? Either way, the brave crew enjoyed a stormy night where the trees towering over the cabin swayed so much they looked as though they were made of rubber... And they'll never forget the Will O'the Wisps that haunt these here woods (aka lightening bugs--Sweeney comes from Scotland, and that night in Indiana was the first time he had seen lightening bugs... You can imagine the form they took under Jed's creative mind!)
Sweeney and Jed worked together and played together. It was a good month.
One day when Gabi was there too, they went to the uptown bakery with Grandma and Grandpa. Since there were no seats at the bakery, they took a stroll to the courthouse lawn to devour their treats. And some fabulous picture-taking ensued!

[The one above and below are my favorites!! I don't think these pictures could have been better positioned if I were a professional! Everyone's happy, they're all visible--I Love it!!]

Sweeney's family; the McClure's feel like he belongs with them :)
