Trip to the zoo

We recently took a trip to the zoo with my friends, Amy and Lauren and their little ones, Layton and Cooper. We had a great time. However, I didn't bring a stroller and Tanner wanted to be carried most of the time instead of walking so I was a little worn out by the end of it.  We stopped and got ice cream halfway through, and that was a lot of fun.  It was a good day with good friends!

When it rains......it POURS!

This was a terrific week. I say that with all of the sarcasm you can imagine.  This week my car broke down, our air conditioner broke down, and the pool pump broke down.  Yes, all in the same week.  My car was in the shop for a few days and the air conditioner repair man spent about 6 hours here one day.  Then there is the pool.  We asked the local pool man to come out and see if he could diagnose the problem.  He said that we needed to replace our pump.  Yay, great news!  Ha! Anyway, Clinton dismantled the pump and we brought it to San Antonio to have it hooked up and tested. As it turns out, there was nothing wrong with it at all.  They told us that we probably had something clogging our line.  So, Clinton goes to Home Depot and purchases a few pieces of equipment to snake out the line from the pool to the house.  He spent about 5 hours outside and eventually came to the conclusion that he wasn't going to be able to do it with what he had.  He could get to the blockage but he couldn't clear it.  The next day I called a plumber out to see if he could work some magic.  He spent a few hours out there too, and even used the "big guns" machine (which they charge $65 to use plus the labor and service call fees) and he still couldn't get it.  He told us that we were gonna have to cut the line out to get whatever it was out of there.  Again, good news.  That evening, Clinton dug up the ground where the lines went into the pool and prepared to take the clogged one out of the ground, which happened to be in between two other lines.  He was not happy about this at all and decided to try one last thing.  He got a tennis ball from the garage and held it to one end of the line to let the water pressure build up.  He let it go and it spewed like Old Faithful, pushing everything out of the line!  We were soooo excited! After all of the money we spent trying to fix it, he ended up fixing it with a tennis ball!  We didn't care, though, we were just happy to have it fixed.  The clog was a giant piece of wood that somehow ended up in the pool and, eventually, the intake line.  This shows how well the pump worked after the clog was out:

Pre-Easter fun

We had a GREAT Easter this year! Our playgroup had its annual Easter egg hunt at my friend Abby's house, and the kids had a blast! My parents came in for the weekend, and got to see Tanner find her Easter basket on Easter morning. However, Tanner woke up with a fever that day and was really lethargic so we didn't end up going to church even though we were all dressed and ready. She fell asleep in my arms on the couch right before we were going to leave. Luckily, once she slept for a bit she started feeling better so we were able to head to Haley and Jason's for lunch and an Easter egg hunt. We had a great time.

We both wore yellow on the day of the playgroup egg hunt so I had to get a picture..

Ready, set, go!

I think this picture symbolizes everything that is good about being a kid!

This is Tanner's favorite thing to do in the entire world!

Another day at the Twig

For Easter this year, the Twig had a story time on Saturday and the nut brown hare from the story was in attendance.  This time, Clinton got to go and David and Alma brought Addison as well. We went to story time, then the girls got to take pictures with the giant rabbit. They also ha an Easter egg hunt in the bookstore.  Afterward, we walked over to the farmer's market. It was a good day.

I thought this was a goofy faceEating the snack that they provided after the story                                         Addison was not a fan of the nut brown hare! The junior league of San Antonio had a booth at the farmers market and they were giving these aprons away to kids in order to promote healthy cooking. Tanner picked an orange one and we use it all the time!
This is what Tanner found in her egg at the egg hunt

The river runs right behind the brewery so the girls had a good time looking at the water. They had live music at the famers market, also, and this band was playing old soft rock music.  The girls were very interested and went to check it out so the band told them that they would play them a song.  They played Christopher Robin and Tanner and Addison danced! It was neat!                                                   They definitely deserved a tip!!

Dinner one night....

We were having a nice peaceful dinner one night when a food fight broke out. I have no idea who started it, but both Tanner and Clinton thought it was the most hilarious experience of their lives!  It is turkey that they are throwing in the video...

St. Patrick's Day

We had a fun St. Patrick's Day this year. It was on a Wednesday so we went to story time at the library and Alma brought everyone four leaf clover antennas to wear. We went to Chili's to eat, afterward, and really enjoyed the day with Alma and Addison.  Tanner was tired when we got home, so this is what I had to work with when documenting her green outfit...

Storytime at the Twig

Tanner and I sometimes go to storytime at The Twig, which is a neat bookstore located in the Pearl Brewery in downtown San Antonio.  The Pearl Brewery is a very old brewery that has been turned into commercial offices. It is really neat, and they have a farmer's market on Saturdays that is fun to go to.  The storytime at the Twig is neat because they always have a craft and a snack that go along with the story, and they occasionally have the main character from one of the books attend.  We really enjoy going, and this particular day we got there early and Tanner decided that she was going to be the storyteller! That is Harry Potter that she has in her hand, so we would have been there for awhile!
