"Well I was sitting, wating, wishing" that the
Jack Johnson concert was tomorrow. Alas, the concert is 25 February 2006 in Nottingham, about three hours north of London. We just bought tickets this morning. I am very excited!! I tried to buy tickets for his show in central London, but Ticketmaster wasn't selling tickets yet for some reason even though other places were.
The Jack concert will be our first concert in a year and a half. The last being
Dave Matthews Band in Houston, TX last September with my sister Amy and my brother-in-law Barrett. I am going to try to get tickets to Coldplay in December. A few places hold a very limited number of tickets until 2 weeks before a show, so I am waiting to buy those. If that doesn't work, I will go up to London on the night of the show and see if I can get a good deal with some scalpers. If not, there is always the
Texas Embassy to make things better.
Oh, our trip to Scotland was great! I was able to find out which clan my family is from and I know my dress tartan and my clan hunting tartan as well. Very cool. Pictures are available on our website.

So, I love the weekends! This post was almost titled "Sounds like a case of the Mondays.", but it isn't so much anti-Monday, just pro-weekends. I told Cheryl several months ago back in Texas that we (American society) should petition/protest/lobby (your verb of choice) for 2nd Sunday. Come on we (you as I am not a resident of the U.S.) can get 'er done.
Cheryl and I had a great weekend just hanging out together. We did a bit of shopping around Croydon, adding some items for our flat. We also found a great Christian bookstore AND a bargain Christian bookstore. We bought a few books apiece plus we finally got around to getting a Message Bible. Cheryl had the NT, but we wanted the whole thing. Anyway, it was a just a good weekend. Oh, and I recommend watching
Big the classic Tom Hanks comedy. A good time for everyone! Perhaps I will have movie/DVD recommendations added to my sidebar.
I have finally finished
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell (and recommended by
Michael Felker.) It is a really good book. Its hard to describe, but it breaks down how social trends, ideas, and concepts (even TV shows) hit that spark takeover a society. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants to know how little things make a big difference. Its a great book for anyone that deals with people, and last time I checked, that would be all of us.

I realize that it is only 6 October 2005, however there is no Thanksgiving here in the UK and the next thing on the calendar is...Christmas. We actually saw Christmas decorations at the grocery store on Saturday. Seriously. The real reason for this post is to draw your attention to the 'Wishlist' link which has been added to the sidebar on the right.
I have made a wishlist of items over at
Amazon.com for suggestions to all my nearest and dearest that would like to buy me a present or few for Christmas or my bithday 2 weeks after. Some of the items I have selected are DVDs which are recent summer movies and will be released in October and November. Typically, DVDs are cheaper within the first week of release, so I am really just trying to help everyone out.
You by no means need to purchase these items from Amazon, in fact I would not since I don't think you can ship them to me here in the UK. You may purchase several of these items at your local
Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or
Barnes & Noble and send them to me.
If any of you out there need ideas for Cheryl, let me know. Also, any of you with ideas for Cheryl, let me know as well.
For those interesed..or confued, the title to this post is from the song Wishlist from Pearl Jam's
Yield album.

"Stop it you're not even there." Ok, so there are going to be a lot of
Friends references on this page.
With that in mind I have changed my mind and as you can see by the picture here, this post is about TEXAS. More specifically the
The Texas Embassy. Cheryl and I went up to central London for church yesterday morning instead of the Saturday night service by the church in Leatherhead. One of the main reasons was to go to The Texas Embassy for lunch. It was great!! Here is the
storyof the Texas Embassy.
The atmosphere is just what you would expect from a restaurant with "Texas" in the title. Think Fort Worth, not Dallas. We had flautas with a guacamole-ranch dip which was surprising good. I don't like guacamole or ranch, but combined it was pretty good. We shared combo fajitas which were delicious, but over priced (we are in central London). I had a great frozen beverage, but they did not have either flavors Cheryl wanted to try, but what she got was tasty.
They have a gift shop with shirts, hats, and assorted drinkware which we will get at some point. It was really good and I imagine we will be back several times during our time abroad.
