Avery turned 3 a few weeks ago and I am just getting around to posting about it! Nothing too eventful.... cake, presents, dinner. Ya know, the usual! I can't believe how fast our kids are growing up. I remember when Jace turned 3... weird! Anyways I did want to post a few things about Avery and her adventures or shall I say her mischevious ways!! (This girl is killing me!)
I wanted to try and make a special cake for Avery's Birthday. I don't know why I always think that I can whip up a really fancy cute cake and it will be no big deal.... but it's always way harder than I expect!! And it never looks quite like I imagine it... ever! But my intentions are always good ;) Well after messing around with this cake of hers forever I finally just said I'm done with it... it's not going to get much better. So I covered it in wrap and set it aside on the counter for her birthday the next day. I was proud of my work, even if it looked a little pathetic. So that night after I had put all the kids in bed, I went to my room to have a little "me time." I was on the computer when I heard someone quietly come into my room. I knew it couldn't have been JD since he just barely left for the gym. Well, in bops Avery... I didn't look up from my computer when she came and laid next to me in bed. A few minutes passed and I looked over at her and I JUST G-A-S-P-E-D! Chocolate cake and red frosting smeared all over her pj's as evidence of what she had been up to while I thought she was in bed. I ran downstairs to behold a huge mess of cake on the floor and counter. My cake that I had worked so hard on! I was about to have a heart attack I was SO MAD. I ran upstairs to get Avery and she had already climbed back into her own bed claiming that she was tired. (she knew she was in for it) I grabbed her and took her downstairs to look at the mess she made and her cake that she ruined. I probably overreacted and yelled a little too loud at her but I worked so hard on that stupid cake! And had it been Jace or Brody's cake that she destroyed she would have really gotten it, but what could I do? It was her own damn cake! Haha, so anyways.... I got over it. It's a cake, right? Not worth it! This girl of ours is such a little independent spit fire. We love her and the funny little things that she says. She is just so different than Jace was and it's proving to be a challenge for me. I don't know how to handle her sometimes. She's so hot and cold. Here's just a little example of how different her and Jace are:
The other day Brody was playing with a toy of hers and she kept grabbing it away from him and our conversation went like this....
Me: Avery, please let Brody play with that.
Avery: NO!
Me: Jesus would share
(at this point Jace always said, "ok, he can have it then.")
Avery: NOOO, Jesus would NOT share!
Me: YES he WOULD!
Avery: No he would NOT!
I had to keep myself from busting up laughing just because it was so funny and unexpected of her to say. Anyways, she has a mind of her own and doesn't back down ever! Gotta love her though (and we do!) Here are the pics from her birthday...

The beloved princess crown cake. This pic doesn't do the damage justice... at least you can still make out her name!

Seriously, how could I stay mad at that little face?!
Happy Birthday Avery!!
