Blond Moments

Carlee...poor, poor Carlee!

She was working the front desk when a salesman came in and asked for me. They talked for a minute and then she came in my office and told me a horse trainer was there to see me. What???
Actually it was a salesman who wanted to do some 'horse trading'. Hehehehehe.

Later on, we had a guest come to the front desk asking for toiletries. I was in my office listening to her stammer and stutter until she finally asked him what toiltetries were. He told her, "underarm deodorant and stuff like that".
"OH!" she says. Then offers him toothpaste, shaving cream, a razor, and a comb, in addition to the deodorant.
Where do I get these people!

My children have commented about my lack of blog entries lately.
The truth is....there are things I want to talk about, but I feel this is not the forum to do so.
Plus I want to keep it real...and sometimes real means REALLY real, so it's best to refrain from serious topics.
Anyway, lets talk about some positive things.
I am so proud of Sage. She is confident, comfortable, articulate, outgoing, and READY for this phase of her life and the whole college experience. Plus, she has her head on straight. I am so very proud of this young lady. It truly has taken a village to raise her up, and for that I am grateful.
Yes, I let Bridgette get another dog...and a coon hound at that. Call us animal hoarders if you will, but I prefer to refer to our pets as our 'menagerie of family members'. No one takes better care or has more concern for animals than Miss Bridgette.
Reese has the burden of being too smart and thinking too in depth. His peers won't reach to those depths and at times Reese struggles with this. I feel for him, but feel this is something he will have to deal with throughout life. He is still doing some work for Mr. Clemens across the street, in addition to cross country practice, and chores at home. With his kind heart and bright mind, he will go far in life.
I enjoyed Reagan this week. She is so happy and full of life. She slept in bed with me and Stogie and I enjoyed snuggling up to her. She was such a great worker at the hotel. I can't wait until she is legal and we can put her on the payroll. She's a natural and the staff absolutely loves her.
Don and I are great friends and business partners, we just suck at the whole marriage/family thing. I am in the process of purchasing the hotel from him and he is bending over backwards to help make the process as easy as possible. Taking on such a big risk is scary indeed, but I feel I won't ever get ahead unless I take that leap. Plus I don't want to go get a real job! Truth be told, I really have nothing to lose. Worst case scenario and I fall flat on my face...they cannot take my house, my car, or my children...and that's all I ever need to bounce right back.
One of the most positive things I have done for my self-esteem recently is taking firearms instruction. It is WAY out of my comfort zone as I am being trained one-on-one by a tactical protective services trainer for the military. I'm sure my trainer thinks I'm goofy as hell, but I don't care because the experience has been so empowering and beneficial thus far. I'm actually a pretty decent shot. Next month the girls and I are taking a four hour self-defense class. I can't wait to see Sage in action. The trainer has no idea what he's in for!
Lots of events are coming up soon: Bridgette and I are going to a concert next week...the mission trip to Gallop, NM is the second week of July...Sage and Reagan have birthdays...the list goes on and on.
The biggest concern on my mind is Ma. I pray daily that her suffering will end soon.
I truly hope it does.

Reese and Reagan arrived in St. Louis last night and we went from the airport to Texas Roadhouse to eat...at 8:30pm. You know me...it's all about the food.
Today, Reese decided to sleep in, but not Reagan. She was up at the crack of dawn ready to go to work with me. She has been Sue's helper. She's done everything from check-outs to laundry to making cookies to changing the welcome sign. This girl is a natural!
Bridgette has been a great help in holding down the fort. She takes the dogs on a strenous walk twice a day. Impressive.
Miss Sage has been working on thank-you notes, and just hanging out.
I've been working on my real estate broker continuing education units so I can renew my license, in addition to my oral communications. What the hell was I thinking in taking a summer class!
