Solidarity with the Venezuelan people

No to US imperialist aggression!

The Front Populaire Antifasciste condemns the US imperialist invasion and the violations of Venezuela’s territorial sovereignty.

Venezuela is under attack today because it refuses to submit.

Venezuela was first attacked politically and economically and is now subjected to direct military violence, including the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. This situation is neither an accident nor a misstep; it is part of a long history of US imperialist interventions against peoples seeking to chart their own course.

For years, Washington has imposed a brutal economic blockade on Venezuela. These sanctions do not simply target the government; they affect families, workers, public services, and access to food and health care. Deliberately imposed crisis conditions are then used to justify increased pressure, violence, and interference.

It’s well-known strategy.

Latin America was the testing ground:

Coups d'état, political assassinations, economic attacks, and dictatorships supported or imposed in the name of “freedom” and “the market.” From Chile to Cuba, from Haiti to Honduras, the people have paid a heavy price for this imperialist domination. Venezuela is no exception.

We reject the hypocritical rhetoric about the defence of democracy that strangles entire populations

We reject the idea that an empire can decide which people will be free to choose their government and which must be punished for their political choices.

We reject authoritarianism and the normalization of imperialist violence, whether it takes the form of sanctions, sabotage, military intervention, or kidnapping.

We have a clear and simple position:

  • solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
  • an unmitigated condemnation of the US intervention.
  • The complete rejection of all imperialist interference, in Venezuela and elsewhere.

Being anti-fascist today means more than just opposing the local far right. It means rejecting a global system that crushes peoples to protect profits, multinational corporations, and the geopolitical interests of the powerful.

Being anti-capitalist means recognizing that these attacks are not missteps but are established mechanisms of a system based on exploitation and domination.

International solidarity is more than just a slogan.

It is a political responsibility.

We must organize and act!

We encourage you to attend these two events organized by various Latin American groups and their allies:

Public Assembly, Saturday, January 10, 5359 avenue du Parc, 3:00 pm

A discussion about the situation in Venezuela and coming actions.

Demonstration, Sunday, January 11, US Consulate, 1134 Sainte-Catherine West, 2:00 pm

Let’s show our solidarity!

Down with imperialism!

Solidarity with the Venezuelan people!
