HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Not much is going on in the Massey household for New Year's Eve. The most exicitng things we did today were take the dogs on a walk and give Owen a bath. The picture of Brian with Owen in Baby Bjorn is from our walk today. He loves going on walks and he often falls asleep before we get to the next block. The picture of Owen in the bath is also from today. He loves to suck on his hand and he has discovered that sucking on his hand with water on it is even more fun!

Owen loves to sit in his Bumbo seat. Brian nicknamed the seat "Shrek", so that's what we're calling it now. Here he is sitting on the kitchen table for pictures!
Today the Holiday Hawk (think Sierra Mist commercial) visited our street!!! Brian was on his way to work and he discovered him sitting on the road in a puddle of water. He turned around and came back home and got the camera.

Merry Christmas To All!

We celebrated our first Christmas with little Owen today, and it was a great day. Though he didn't know exactly what was going on, he was a lot of fun and was a good sport as we spent some time together, opening presents and taking pictures. Here are a few of the photos from today. Merry Christmas.

Here's Brian and Cara's Christmas present this year!

This past weekend, Owen went on his first trip out of Charleston. Brian had to work up in Greenville, SC, and we went along to get a nice break. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit cruddy, so we couldn't really get out and enjoy the scenery. So, we stayed in the hotel room and had a fun time. Here's a couple of photos.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Last week I decided it was time to take Christmas pictures. These were taken on our couch with Owen laying on a white sheet. For the naked ones I forgot to "protect" the couch before I put him down, so I was afraid the whole time he was going to pee on the couch. However, there was no way I was going to pick him up and rearrange everything while he was happy and tolerating a camera in his face. Here is a look at my favorite ones:

We also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!! We will miss seeing our friends and family in Texas this year. It will be lonely here without you!

Our New Addition

Welcome to our blog! Our lives were richly blessed with Owen Harrison Massey on October 23, and as you can imagine he is growing at an amazing pace. Since we live so far away from many of our friends and family, here is a short tribute to the last 7 weeks of our lives.
Owen was born at 6:51 in the morning. The environment at the hospital was very interesting because right as he came out, all of the delivery and nursey nurses were changing staff. Sometimes we think they were cheering me on so well in delivery process just so that Owen would be born before the end of their shift! In all, Owen's delivery went really well and we went home the next day.
Here is a picture of Owen going home from the hospital. When we put him in his car seat we could not believe how tiny he looked. The next couple of days were a little stressful. We had to go to the doctor everyday for the rest of that week and weekend because Owen was jaundiced and losing too much weight due to my delayed milk supply. In the end, everything worked out great and we did not have to go back to the doctor again until his two week check-up.
Here is a picture of Owen's first Aggie game when he was less than a week old. As parents, we only wish the best for our child (and that means attending Texas A&M one day).Owen is pictured here at two weeks old. For about a month after he was born, we had family from Texas come and go. It was so nice to have the help and to see them love on Owen!

Owen at three weeks old. He is so squirmy!

These pictures were taken when Owen was around 4 weeks old. Brian's sister came to visit and she took a ton of really nice pictures for us.
This is Owen waiting for his first A&M vs tu game. He was good luck; the Aggies won! Whoop!
Owen's First documented social smile. He is such a charmer!

Owen at five weeks old lounging with Daddy.
Owen at six weeks old just after a bath. He is finally beginning to like them more and more.
Thanks for looking at our blog! Happy Holidays!
