Family Pic
It's that time of year again. No, not the holidays. It's time to strap on the nice clothes, cake on the makeup and smile endlessly. That's right it's time to get a family picture during the 1 hour of overlapping time we all had. You read that right. We were all only in the same spot for 1 hour. Ryan didn't get done with class until 2:00 and Jeremy had to catch a flight at 3:00. It was a mad dash to say the least, but I think it all worked out in the end.

Thanksgiving
Just because I'm vegetarian doesn't mean that I dislike Thanksgiving. I can get the allotted 5,000 calories in easily through all the other yummy dishes. We were at my Dad's this year. My sister Ashley was still in town so the cousins got to play together and we got to see the Timm's for one more day. Dinner was delicious, Bingo was as greedy as ever and the Wii was hours of fun. Count it.

Children's Museum
It has been so fun to have my sis Ashley and her family in town. I was so sad that we got sick last week and didn't get to see them. We had such great things planned and instead I got to sit around puking and changing horribly smelly diapers. Luckily we're all better and we got to do some of the things we'd planned. We all met up at the Children's Discovery Museum. It was a little bit much for Lucas, but Chloe had a great time. My cousin brought her kids and we didn't even see them because they were off having so much fun. It was super fun and exciting to see all of the fun things we will get to do with Lucas as he gets bigger.
My super cute boys!
Ryan with his other son.....or my cousins kid that looks just like Ryan.
Lucas rocked the rock climbing wall. (Pun intended) He was totally hanging on and I caught him at the last minute.
What good lookin ladies hanging out at the museum.
They had these bubbles that Lucas loved, but I'm a little weary of. They wouldn't pop, ever. I walked around with bubbles stuck to me for the rest of the afternoon. It just doesn't seem right.
Jen's new apartment.
Tubby Time
We finally got a floor mat for out tub so Lucas can take big kid tubbys. He loves them. The first night we tubbyed him like this his eyes were super red from all the water he splashed into them. You have to close your eyes son.
Helmet
So, my cousin Cortney got her wish and Lucas got a helmet. It's officially called a head molding helmet. My poor son had a super flat head so now he has to wear a helmet to round it out. In the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal. It's only a few months of his life and now he can shave his head when he's older and not be made fun of. I was not at all excited for him to get it though. I really thought everyone would think that I just left my son in his bed all the time. It turns out that no one knows what the helmet is all about. Most people will just stare, but a few will ask why he has to wear a helmet. I've been trying to think of something funny to say back to them. (He's going to space/football camp next week and he's just getting ready) I'm sure something will come to me. Also, we got a white helmet so we can decorate it however we want. I'll keep you updated on the decorating ideas.

Luckily this was only the first ten minutes or so.....he got used to it really quickly.
Solid Food
We started Lucas on solid food. I was so excited to get him started, but then I realized that it's actually more work. It turns out it was easier to just carry the food around with me. Luckily he's been enjoying almost everything we've given him. I've been making his food since that is something that I really want to do. I have to admit that it's not too hard, but it does take a little time. He loves sweet potatoes, squash and bananas. He hates avocado. I know it's a sin to hate avocado in our family, but I will try them again on him soon. He will learn to love them!

Here I am feeding Lucas the homemade sweet potatoes. Notice that I'm still in my comfy clothes with my hair pulled back. There is only so much I can do in a day, either he eats or I have my hair fixed. I'm glad I chose to feed my child.
The idea is to make a lot ahead of time and freeze them in ice cube trays. It makes for interesting colored ice cubes and limited freezer space.

Halloween
I've been so excited for Halloween. I've actually been more excited for every holiday, because with my age and ever present gray hairs comes wisdom, and that wisdom is this: holidays are more fun with kids. It's true, if Ryan and I were in our young bloated always drunk rock star youth we wouldn't think this way. But since we are not big partyers, we look forward to the little ones running around in their super cute costumes. I may have been so excited I bought my sons costume in August. He just looked so cute as a dinosaur/dragon, we're not really sure which it is. Since the weather was so bad, we made it to about 3 houses and then the kids were done, or maybe I was just done. I loathe the cold weather.

Look at my cute little dino/dragon.

First 29th Birthday
So yesterday was my birthday and so many people wished me a happy day that I truly felt the love. It started with a wonderful nights sleep, thank you Lucas, and me forgetting that it was my birthday until Ryan gave me a hug and said happy birthday. Even with all the sleep I'm still tired though. No more sleeping in.
I have Jenna for the first half of the day and she is wonderful, cute, cooing and smiling. What a good present Jenna, thanks. My son on the other hand is in an ok mood. He wakes up from his morning nap a little early so he's only doing ok. No problem. My wonderful Mother brings me a yummy lunch which we try to enjoy, but my son is just not having it. We are about ready to go on a walk when I realize that the only place my keys can be is locked in the trunk of our car with the stroller. Lucky we didn't go though because Lucas has the biggest poop I've ever seen him take. I'm so glad we moved up to size 3 diapers. After this he is in a wonderful mood. He is smiling and laughing and all around super happy. I love my little man!
I talk to some well wishers on the phone and then it is time for dinner. We had planned on going out with friends, but I was a little gun shy. We went out the night before with my friends from work and every little peep Lucas made sounded like a dinosaur roar. I ended up in the car nursing him watching some guy on his smoke break. You can see why I wanted to eat in.
We got take out and by the time it was all ready and picked up it had gotten to be 7 at night. Before I had a kid I wouldn't have thought anything of being out and about this late (can't believe I just called 7 late!), but now that is bed time. We eat, my wonderful best friend Natalie made me cupcakes, and then Lucas is done for the day.
We decide to tubby the kids together and Lucas loved it! He was so happy to sit up in a big tub and splash all over. We finally get him home and he is so wired, he can't fall to sleep. After an hour of screaming, from Lucas and me, he finally drifts off. I'm so tired by this point that I'm ready for bed. The day ends with Ryan singing me Happy Birthday in bed as I drift off to sleep. Not at all like the birthdays I used to have, but then again nothing is like it used to be. I still wouldn't trade it at all.

Funny baby moments
Fall Break
I love that Ryan gets fall break. I does make me feel like we are about 20 years old again. Of course this time it was not all bikini parties and drinking games. This time it was fun grown up things like fixing the door, winterizing the yard and painting the heating manifolds. Who says being a grown up isn't fun? Besides making Ryan slave away in the house and yard, we found time to do some fun things. We hung out with the Levies and tried to carve pumpkins, which is impossible to do with two little kids. Jen and I went to Layton to visit our cousin Cortney and her adorable new baby and attempt to craft. We visited Jonny in his dorm with my Mom and David. Side note: so glad I don't live in dorm rooms anymore. We walked around Silver Lake with my Dad and Jan. It was a super fun pretty typical family outing. The bees kept attacking us while we tried to eat our picnic and Lucas refused to be happy unless he was being carried, so my Dad got to push around an empty stroller. So all in all it was a super fun week. The best part though was getting Lucas to sleep through the night. It is so wonderful to get consecutive hours of sleep. I now feel like I could be on a special team in the army that never sleeps and has to keep following the enemy. Motherhood is such useful training for so many careers.
I'm such a dope and only took the camera with me one day. At least I have pics of that day though.

First Meal
So Lucas has been watching us eat every bite lately. He has been so interested in food. He watches me feed Jenna with envy. I decided to try and give him a little rice cereal just for fun. He loved it! Of course he already wants to start feeding himself.

Trifecta
Well, it finally happened yesterday. I got all three from Lucas. You knew the day would come, but I'd held it off for almost five months. Yesterday I lost that battle. First the spit up. Nothing new there, happens multiple times every day. That's what burp rags were invented for. Then came the pee. Not my favorite but that's the risk I take carrying him to his tub from the bedroom and maybe stopping a little too long to look at his cute tushie in the mirror. No problem it's mostly water anyway. But of course it had to be the poop day too. A few nights ago we had the pooping in the tub incident. That was not fun since it involved re cleaning and then scrubbing the tub. Last night it happened innocently enough while I was burping him. I checked to see if it had leaked out the top, all clear I thought I'd dodged a bullet. Then I pick him up to change him and it's leaked out the legs. What's that you say, "did it stop there?" No it went through all layers of clothing and onto the skin. It's not fair to have to wash out his clothes and mine. I think I officially get to be in the mom club now, right? Do they give you oxiclean at the welcoming meeting?
State Fair
As some of you might know we love to go to the state fair. It is so wonderful. The people watching, the food, the people watching, the big yellow slide and did I mention the people watching? Such fun. Usually our cousin Cort brings the kids, but she was busy this year having another kid. Plus we were missing my Mom and brothers, busy doing something not as fun as the fair. Luckily my friend Natalie and her husband Joey could come and they brought along Lucas' girlfriend Jenna. Joey didn't get off work for a while so Ryan and Lucas were the only boys, which meant they had to go through all the craft displays with us. What good sports. We were poor this year so we only did one ride on the big yellow slide and shared a funnel cake. I can still taste the goodness. Enjoy the pictures below. I can't believe it's a whole year until the fair comes again. Sigh. Also, one more fun tid-bit. I can now add the UT state fair park to my list of places I've fed Lucas. It's really a traveling show.

Lucas is ready to go.
Just the girls and Lucas.
Jenny and Natalie loved the piglets. I really think they tried to steal one. I'm serious, when we were leaving Jenny had a lump in her shirt that was squealing.
This is what my husband chooses to eat when given the choice of all the fair food. Is that not the grossest thing you've ever seen? He might as well get it at the fair because he sure isn't getting it at home. I may have made him brush his teeth before he got a kiss.
I love my sister. We are two crazy apples in a bushel of awesome.

The most fun game in the world
Ryan's parents have a Wii. I would love to own one because they are so darn fun, but out of my fun budget (zero dollars in case you were wondering). We like to play it whenever we head over to their house. Our favorite game, or my favorite game, is Just Dance. I am not a graceful person, nor do I have rhythm or fluidity in my movement, but for some reason I rock this game. I am the reigning champ. I really could care less if I win because it is so much fun to play. We had a dance off this weekend, yours truly won, and I got a little footage of the skills. I'm not in it because I'm the only one that thought to record this awesome event. I can promise you that everyone in this video looks better than me though.
Another Sinner Married
This weekend was the Casey & Mary wedding weekend extravaganza. We're so glad that Mary is now a part of the Sinner clan. She is such a cool girl with wonderful taste. It was such a fun whirlwind weekend.
It started on Friday with the mani-pedi party. All the girls got their nails done and discussed the latest political debacle or something equally as engrossing.
That night was the pre wedding soiree. I don't have a single picture, but it was truly beautiful. I'll get pics from the fam and you'll see why I said Mary has such fabulous taste.
Here is the happy couple after the sealing on Saturday. Mary is wearing her Grandma's dress, which was beautiful. They both looked so glamorous and happy.
Trying hard to get a good picture of the three of us. Of course Lucas was super happy whenever a camera was not pointed at him. As soon as the camera came out, he would start to scream.
Luckily I had my Mom there to help. It was so wonderful to have her there to watch Lucas while we were in the temple and hold him while we were in pictures and calm him down when he was losing it at the luncheon. Taking a baby to a wedding is truly fun. By the by I can now add three more places to my list of where I've nursed. Men with enlarged prostates know where all the bathrooms in the city are, I know where all the dark corners ideal for nursing are.

Trying to Can
Tis the beginning of canning season. We like to start with chili sauce (yum). I was finally so excited to not have to work and be able to can like a mad woman. It turns out that having kids around slows down the production.

At least Lucas found something good to eat.
This is what the supplies looked like when I got to Mom's house and what they looked like when I left.
This is what we spent most of the day doing. Having fun with the kids and falling asleep on the floor...Jenny.
Jenna has a new best friend.
