Almost finished!!

Well, finally a moment to sit down. We are close to being finished with the house first of all. What a relief it will be to have all done. I wanted to share a few pictures of the things that are almost finished and will need the finishing touches. Counter tops will be here some day this week and carpet next Tuesday. AHHH so much to do so little time. Its coming along though.
Some of the tile work that Damon did, and I got to finish it off with the grout. I have never grouted before so I was a little nervous. The wood we used for the cabinets is called knotty maple and mixed with a little white chocolate. The fire place will sit on the hearth.
It is amazing to see what a little trim and window seals can do. It gives your house a huge face lift.
Then finally a picture with the rock work on the outside.
Hopefully a couple more weeks and we can close and then move in. It has been a process. If you consider building consider buying first. It is just way to stressful-- But I guess worth it. I have to see how it feels when we move in. :)
Carter turned 5 on the 17th and he was way excited to be this old. He said "I am 5 now and then I will be 6 that will be neat." Already looking forward to next year. He is such a character and he always keeps us on our toes. He is full of energy and loves to look after his little sister. He talks baby talk to her and some how they can communicate with each other better than I can communicate with Cavry. He has a lot of love to give and is a good boy (except when he is in need a nap) and we wouldn't have him any other way. We love you Carter!!

A much needed update and a Winter Blowout!!

Well lets see, where to begin. First of all we have had so much going on and my time is consumed by the house. Hopefully we will be done with this project in the next month or two.
We have all of the rock work done on the outside and the inside is painted and the tiling is almost finished. Then trim and carpet and of course hooking all of the appliances up to make the home work. We are really excited and can't wait to finally live in it. I didn't get the chance to take a picture of the house finished on the outside yet because of this and a little of procrastination. We got hit hard with all of this snow 3-5 feet crazy huh!! Our Mayor of Tropic called our little town a state of emergency. Which means that people don't have to go to work but could really use the help to clear the snow. School was canceled and we aren't going anywhere for a while. Grateful for the moisture!! Christmas was great and the kids got everything they asked for from Santa!! I was surprised from Damon and got a Cricut Expression. I can't wait to have room to just leave the machine out and scrapbook when ever I want. My whole family was here and we always have such a wonderful time together.

Ahh.. Halloween!

We had a wonderful Halloween this year. We kicked it off with a fun party for Casia. And I got creative. It was so much fun. It was called a "Spooky Dinner"
She was able to invite 5 friends and including her made a party of six. The girls loved it. We had lots of interesting things to eat and I told them a spooky story. Appetizer: Earth Worms!!( raspberry flavored jigglers) Then I got so involved with serving them that I didn't take any pictures of the rest of the courses. For the Main entree' Mummies (hot dogs rapped in dough and cooked to make them look like mummies) and a side of corn. ( for something healthy). For dessert I made pumpkin cookies, Lady fingers, and of course we had Bat droppings(whoppers) all over the table to snack on. The Girls got a kick out of it and it was a hit. If you enlarge the top picture you can see the Center Piece. I made labels and put the content inside. For example in one of the jars was floating Eyeballs. I put them in oil and put red food coloring in the top and the food coloring didn't separate in the oil so it looked like little blood drops. It was a lot of fun. And the girls got a kick out of their Server: Vivian Trick or Treating went great and the kids had a lot of fun. They got so much Candy and we are all still snacking on them. Casia a Witch Carter a Skeleton Cavry a Ladybug We had so much fun The best part separating and counting the Candy!!

Catching up!

I have a lot of catching up to do! We have all been so busy with the end of summer and school starting. First of all while working on the house and before school started I was able to get some of my bottling done which resulted in a wonderful harvest this year.
I was able to Harvest, cherries, salsa, carrots, corn, onions, apricot jam, apricot pinapple jam, plum jam, raspberry jam, strawberry jam, strawberry peach jam. And a lot of red potatoes in cold storage. Yummy!! Then we had a wonderful reunion on the Big Hornes just a few weeks before shool started. I love this reunion. It is definatly a highlight of my year especially when we get to make the 14 hour drive to wyoming. Well maybe not the drive but it is all worth it to be with the family. We had such a great time. I love my family! Well, then we came home and we started School. Casia is in 2nd grade and Carter started preschool this year. Oh, my big kids! Then their is the little one who is almost 1 1/2. She is so sweet and has fallin in love with shoes! And has found out that when she makes the biggest messes she doesn't get in trouble. Mom just runs for the camera. What?!?! And now onto the bigger project the HOUSE! I am almost to the point of saying the dreaded house just because it seems like it is taking forever. However we have made a lot of progress since the last update of the house. Lets see... the roof, framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, septic system, power lines, water is all connected and finished. We still have the windows and doors, stucco, walls, paint, and the flooring and all of the wonderful finish work. But I keep a smile on my face and keep reminding myself how worth it, it will be. One of my favorite things about this house is that through the Front window(you can't really see what I am talking about because of the angle I took the picture) we get to look at this... Seriously so blessed to look out of the window at this. The Escalante Mountain. Beautiful! You'll notice in the picture of the house it is shaded, because we live up against the mountain across from this high rise which is still catching the rays. It glows! The pictures were taken with in a minute from eachother. And one last thought, Cavry doing what she does best- dressing up! (Cavry has Carters shoes on and his backpack and she is reading a book) Who says the kids can't possibly have fun out their while we work, along with the building of the house comes the building of a teter-toter. They love it!
