We're celebrating two anniversaries this week. Today is our six month anniversary of moving to this place. And Sunday is our six year wedding anniversary. No solid plans on how we'll be celebrating said events, but I'm sure it will be festive.
The last month has been very busy. Highlights below.
We had a nice mini Thanksgiving - our first completely on our own. In homage to our homesickness we made (or at least attempted to make) our favorite family recipes. We even brined a turkey. So fancy.
We attended Steve's work Christmas party. It turned out to be a nice night, but I'm afraid it started out pretty poorly. The problem basically boiled down to this being our first big city party. I really wanted to make a good impression and was putting a lot of pressure on myself. I'm not a social butterfly, by any means, so I'm already freaking out. Plus, I have a closet full of school marm clothes - NOTHING even remotely appropriate for a fancy holiday party in San Francisco.
So we go shopping the day of the party, but store after store - nothing is working. It finally all ends with me walking out of Nordstroms empty-handed, crying. CRYING. (Poor Steve.)
I gave up and that night I was severely/embarrassingly underdressed, but was beyond the point of caring. I'd tried. In spite of all that, it was still a nice night. They had mountains of food, an open bar, live music, and gaming tables set up. We spent most of the night at a craps table, having made friends with one of the dealers who taught us how to play the game. He would even slip me extra chips for "being nice."
