Well, the lack of blog updates will probably continue a little longer, but today I'm almost in the mood, so here goes.
I've decided the reason I don't feel like blogging these days is twofold. Mainly, it's because I work in front of a computer all day, writing things. This doesn't really make me want to come home and type more things, and that includes blog posts, facebook messages, emails, etc. So I'm sorry to those of you who wait for a week to hear back from me. Trying to do better.
My two weeks home alone were, quite frankly, pretty glorious. I enjoy my parents' company a lot, but I really liked the freedom of living by myself. I made myself good food, walked on the treadmill, finished Buffy (Season 5 may be my favorite of all the seasons, despite the distinct lack of Angel in it. Season 2 is pretty close for that very reason.), worked on a very belated present for Lin, fixed up my schedule for IU so that I don't have 3 classes on Monday and nothing anywhere else, hosted a spontaneous get together at the homestead, and enjoyed the company of Emily and Whitney here, and Whitney and Torie down in Provo on the 4th. It wasn't particularly productive, but it wasn't horrible unproductive either, and it was fun.
Last week I was a little nervous that I was getting throat ulcers or labrynthitis, but I think both possibilities have gone away.
Now I'm starting to get closer to my departure for Indiana, and it's starting to get pressure-y. I have lots of people to visit and things that need to be done before I head out, and I can't believe I have less than a month of work left. I need to work harder on the library job situation (although there's a very good chance I'll be doing some remote work or OverstockDrugstore, so that's good news) and I need to start thinking about what is going to stay here and what will fit in Stella. (I'm planning to send Ann a list of the movies I have so she can tell me what she's got and make that supply a little smaller.)
Happily, there are still some things to look forward to this summer, including Brian Vaughan in Henry V at the Shakespeare Festival, and a too-short but still much-anticipated visit from Treb in August. Also, if I can ever get through Return of the Native, there are still a lot of books I'd like to read this summer. This is the first time I've had a hard time working through a Hardy book, and I need to just suck it up and power through.
Ty and Kristie are getting married this week, and unlike many of the other marriages on my radar at the moment, this one doesn't fill me with the impending doom of loneliness. I'm really excited. (I'm excited for my other friends too, but every time someone gets married I think I should be replacing them with someone else so that I don't end up all alone. Good thing I'm going to a new place soon, huh? )
Finally, in the category of things that are bringing me great joy this week, The "blog" of "unnecessary" quotation marks. It's a gem.

Happy birthday, Dr. Horrible.

One year ago today, I saw the last episode of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (on my top bunk in the London Centre.) In honor of such, I give you the following list of lovely quotes.
- Billy: It's not about making money, it's about taking money. Destroying the status quo. Because the status is not quo. The world is a mess and I just . . . need to rule it.
- Billy: Oh my goodness, look at my wrist! I gotta go.
- Billy: Look, I'm just trying to change the world, okay? I don't have time for a grudge match with every poser in a parka.
- Capt. Hammer: The only signature he needed was my fist. But with a pen in it. That I was... signing with.
- Capt. Hammer: You give my regards to St. Peter. Or whoever has his job, but in Hell.
- Moist: Do you need anything... dampened, or... made soggy?
- Penny:You're not really interested in the homeless, are you?
Billy:No, I am, but... It's a symptom. You're treating a symptom, and the disease rages on, consumes the human race. The fish rots from the head, as they say. So what I'm thinking is, why not cut off the head?
Penny:...Of the human race?
Billy:It's not a...perfect metaphor... - Billy:I want to be an achiever... like Bad Horse.
Penny:The Thoroughbred of Sin?
Billy:I meant Gandhi. - Penny:(about Hammer)He's a really good-looking guy, and I thought he was kind of cheesy at first...
Billy:Trust your instincts.
Penny:But, he turned out to be totally sweet. Sometimes people are layered like that. There's something totally different underneath than what's on the surface.
Billy:And sometimes there's a third even deeper level and that one is the same as the top surface one.
Penny:(confused)Huh?
Billy:Like with pie.
- Dr. Horrible: Did you notice that he threw you in the garbage?
Ah, Dr. Horrible. Thank you for making my world a little brighter by making it a little more horrible.

Things that are awesome
1) "Chicken Fat." Once upon a time, there was a record of an exercise song called "Chicken Fat." Apparently JFK sent it to every school in the U.S., and my mom tells me that they did this every morning at school. Anyway, we used to have a tape of it and we did it quite often when I was little. I recently found out that Clark had it, and I swiped a copy and have been doing it most days. It's awesome. Don't expect anything from this video, but you can at least listen to if you haven't heard it.
2) Torie referenced David Bowie and my amazing mix-making skills in one of her latest blog posts. That brings me great joy.
3) Have I mentioned lately how much I love All Songs Considered? I keep a Post It next to me whenever I listen to the show at work so I can write down artists I want to check out later, and today I found this list of 100 essential folk songs that you could also stream, and it was awesome. If you go to the website, you should listen to the show from the 22nd - Live Music from Bob Boilen's Desk. It's fantastic.
4) The fact that Emily and Whitney are coming up on Friday, and I'm heading to Cedar City on Saturday and staying in P-town on Saturday night. It should be a lovely holiday.
5) My parents are going out of town for a bit in the near-ish future, and so Mom was getting me some food so I can survive. Know what I'll be eating? Edamame. Hummus. Tortillas. Tortellini. It's going to be awesome. Especially because I'll be eating it while watching season 5 of Buffy.
6) The Rainmaker. Not the one with Matt Damon (which I think is a Grisham story) but the one with Katharine Hepburn and Burt Lancaster from the 50s. I am in love with this movie, and especially with Katherine Hepburn's character (to whom I relate a whole lot). See it. It's really, REALLY great, and it also solved the mystery of what Tom Selleck and Nancy Travis were quoting in Three Men and a Little Lady.
7) Good talk with Lin tonight. If she moves to West Virginia she'll be 20 whole minutes closer to me in Indiana. :)
8) My dad is completely in love with his new iPod. It's a wonder to behold (except when my mom gets jealous of it because he's spending too much time with it. hehe.) It's highly entertaining to teach him how to use iTunes. And computers in general.
9) Sorry this post is so video heavy, but oh my gosh. This clip pretty much had me dying in my lunch today. My favorite part is the word "entwottered." This is slightly PG-13ish, so if you're extremely sensitive, don't listen to Jeff Goldblume's (hilarious) tribute to himself after "a pride of baboons." (You'll probably be fine, I just like to cover my bases.)
Okay. That's all. I promise I'll post the 4th of July playlist that I made at Clark's request before the 4th of July.
