Gobble Gobble...

What do you get when you use...

Well, a turkey farm of course! Little homeslice and I made these for my class tomorrow. They are so cute, and were way simple! We always have a Thanksgiving feast at school to celebrate the first Thanksgiving, and of couse it fits right into our nutrition unit. (minus these of course, but the rest of the feast does contain the food groups!) :) Have a happy Thanksgiving! I know we have so much to be thankful for!

Cozy Reading...

Okay, so I love when people share good books with me. I have always been a book worm. I love reading. It seems like I don't have much time to read but I just have to, so I usually stay up way too late reading in bed. Of course, then I have to wake up early for work and I am always cussing myself because I stayed up too late reading. Oh, well... Nothing is better to me than sitting in a warm blanket on the couch on these cold cold days reading a good book. These are the books that I have read lately that I recommend. They are all really good. Love the One Your With and Remember Me are easy, fun reading. The Pact is the one I just finished and it is really, really good. I could not put it down. It is very intense, but I loved it. I have passed all three on to different friends. I've just started a new book this weekend, I'll let you know if it's any good after I'm finished. Happy reading!

Trick Or Treat!

Happy Halloween! Our little Clone Trooper had a lot of fun! Nobody has been too surprised that PJ picked yet again, another Star Wars character! I still think it is so funny that he is such a Sci-Fi dork! He loves Star Wars and knows EVERYTHING about it. Jory and I didn't know anything about Star Wars. Apparently Payton saw the movie at my sister's house when he was like 4years old and became obsessed! Last summer the movies were on HBO and I watched them with Payton and they really are good, but geez... Anyways, the first year of Star Wars he was Darth Vador, last year he was Anakin Skywalker and this year he wanted to be Chewbaca, and that costume was way cool... however it was $400 and I am NOT that big of a fan, so he didn't get to do that... He settled with Clone Trooper. He really wanted me to buy a little Yoda costume for Furgy our little dog, but again, NOT that big of a fan!!!!

Ava was sooo cute in her little Minnie Mouse costume! She had the cutest little yellow high heels... So cute.

By the way, I hope I don't offend anyone but I just have to say I HATE trunk or treat! I know that it is a fast, safe way to get the kids loaded up, but it's not real trick or treating! I remember running through the neighborhood as a kid with all the other neighbor kids. Payton is at the age he really wants to load up and NOBODY is home. Every street had like 3 houses with lights on. That sucks! I told Jory that next year we may just have to load up and go to Junction to show him some real trick or treating...

I am glad this week is over, it has been so crazy at school. We had family harvest night this week, a field trip to the Corn Maze, Halloween Party at school, and then of course trick or treating. I slept in until 8 this morning and have been cleaning away. Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

PJ's FIRST!!!

Just Before...
Just After...
My little buddy lost his first tooth Sunday night!! He was so excited! It has been loose for a few weeks now and it started to bleed so I had him sit on my lap and I pulled it right out. You don't even know how exciting this is to him. Last year he was the ONLY kid in my class that had not lost a tooth yet, not even close those babies were solid! We read a Ready Fredy book in class about a boy who was the only one in his class not to loose a tooth and he tries all these things to loose one. (tie a string to a door, mess with the bully at school, eat hard foods, etc) He finally looses his tooth in the end, and well PJ had to wait a bit longer... but he has too! He has one growing on in and now he has one more loose one, right next to this one!
The dentist says that loosing them later is a good sign, and Jory has the best teeth. They are perfect and he never had braces and has yet to have his first cavity!! I hope he has his and not my teeth! Anyways... Tooth Fairy finally made her way to the Green house!

We also took a little field trip to the Bluebell Corn Maze today. I was with the first graders, but the 2nd graders went also. It was a fun time and a beautiful day!

What happens in Vegas...

You know what they say... What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. However, there are a few things I can share... We had so much fun! Thanks to my dad's gambling habit, we had awesome rooms and VIP treatment. We spent some of our own time and hard earned $$$ to gamble ourselves a bit. Ray and I spent most of our gambling time on the Blackjack tables. Not much luck for us, but we got to play on our money a lot longer than those girls on the slots. Mom and Kimmy won pretty big on those babies though.
We went to the spa and had wonderful massages. We got to go to the Beetles "LOVE" show and we also went to a comedy called "Menopause". I really wasn't too excited for that because I hopefully have awhile until I need to worry about that, but it ended up being our favorite show. It was hilarious! At times I was crying it was so funny.
I am already looking forward to our next trip. We didn't get too much sleep and not to mention that some of us, (as in me) had to go to work Monday. I wish I would have made arrangements to have a sub. because I was really dragging!
My dumb camera died on me and I only got pictures of us on the first day, but as you can see the first night alone looks quite entertaining. The other girls took more pictures so when I get them I will share... ???

BUSY!

Oh my heck it has been a crazy few days! First of all Jory ditched us this last weekend and went hunting in Colorado with his friends and I got to play cowgirl while he was gone. It wasn't too bad, but it is starting to get sooo cold! I am also the messiest feeder. Every time I feed the horses I get that dang hay all over myself... in my hair, in my clothes... the stupid wind did not help. Anyways, it wasn't too bad until the water started freezing and I had to crush it. I had a little help from my friends so I guess I will cowgirl up here and there when I need to.

SEP conferences have been going on at school Monday and Tuesday for me. It makes for a long day, but totally worth it. I am very impressed by all of the parent support from my students this year. I have a good group of kids, some which need me more than others and they especially make me realize why it was I went into this profession.

I also had a chance to sneak in and visit with PJ's teacher, Mrs. Henderson. I am so proud of him. He is doing a great job in school. He really is such a good boy. He always does what he is told, he works hard, and he is so friendly to everyone. He is just such a tender hearted, free spirited, happy go lucky kid. We just love him sooo much!

SCHOOL IS OUT FOR FALL BREAK!! Mom, Kimmy, Shari, Raydean and I are leaving for Vegas, Baby! We leave for the airport tommorrow at 7am!! It is our annual "girls" trip. We go every year. We have some fun shows planned and luxurious overdue SPA treatments! I will NOT be thinking about what I am missing here at home... sorry! My baby is going to stay with Papa Woody and Nancy Nancy for a few days so... PEACE OUT!

Well, It's almost first!

Payton: Dad, what place did I take?
Jory: You took second place bud.
Payton: Well, that's almost first!
Jory: It sure is Bud!

Payton is so dang cute. He was the cutest little cowboy this weekend, that's for sure. He got to enter a little roping for the kids at Jory's roping. He ended up taking 2nd place in the 7-10 year old group!! He did so awesome and was the youngest one. He didn't miss the steer once! He seems to always have a rope in his hand these days.

He won a new orange rope. It is quite the eye catcher if you know what I mean... I showed him the picture I took of him holding both ropes and he said, "Thats the rope I won, and that's the rope that I won it with". He really says some of the cutest things. He really has some adult humor sometimes and it just cracks me up. I love this little boy so much! Good job Cowboy PJ!!!!!!

Go Broncos!

We are indeed the Broncos this year in flag football. Payton sure wanted to be the Colts, but he was afterall named after Peyton Manning... My family is a huge Broncos fan family. We have been going to games since I was a little girl. My dad is originally from Colorado and had season tickets to the games. Anyways, my whole point is that yes, we are the good ol' Broncs and here are some pictures of our cute little team. Payton isn't exactly the fastest kid on the block, but is for sure the cutest little guy on the field. He is so small standing next to most of the kids. He is a fantastic kicker... my camera flashed late, so I missed the kick off but you can see him in formation! We lost our first game, but have won all the others so far. I really don't keep track but our coaches (Jory and Bear) sure let us all know!

Papa Tom

My dad is the best man I have ever known. He is also the best Papa. I caught him out swinging with PJ and Ava (who was by the way, Tinkerbell that day). Ava said, "Push me Papa! Higher!" She is a bossy little thing. Payton wanted "underdogs!". They were keeping him busy, but he doesn't mind... He truly is the best and always goes out of his way and gives his time to everyone. He always thinks of everyone else and is so giving. I really admire him in so many ways.

My dad has had Parkinsons disease for about 10 years and nothing seems to slow him down. I love him so much and he has been the best example to all of us. I really hope a cure is right around the corner for him. Keep praying!! I love you Dad!

More of Cowboy Payton and Ike the horse

Payton has been riding almost every night in the arena with his Daddy. Yesterday he went with him to a roping in Oakley and then they went roping in Gusher on their way home... Payton came home with $15. He made the money by bringing up the steers on Ike. He is doing so good riding. He sure is the cutest cowboy I have ever seen on a horse!

School is going good. I think it has been good for us to get on a routine again...? I've already been infested. I have had a head cold all weekend. Yesterday I stayed and slept on the couch while the boys went roping.

PJ is playing flag football two nights a week and our womens bowling league has started up again. Jory is training horses and cleaning stalls. Today he is working the arena. We are busy, busy, busy. I really wouldn't rather it any other way. I hope the weather stays nice for a while longer... I'm not ready for fall/winter to come yet...

Hope everyone is doing well and happy! Have a great week!

First Day of School!

It is that time again... school time!! My baby is starting second grade! I can't believe he is already that big. My alter ego has returned... Mrs. Green. We are both going through some departure issues. With PJ in my class last year we were able to spend everyday together all day long. So far I have heard "MOM!" shouted across the lunch room with a wave and at recess I even got a big hug. He wouldn't do that last year so that seems to be one benefit of him missing me. One day last week he walked in my classroom and then went "oh, wrong room" and turned around laughing to his new room, which by the way is next door to my class.

I really do love my job but sometimes it is so hard for me juggling being a mom and being a teacher. On the first day I wanted to walk PJ to class and kids were already showing up to my class... it was hard but I managed and PJ is a trooper and he understands. On Thursday and Friday I had a mandatory training at school at 7:00am and poor PJ has to get drug around at the crack of dawn. Raydean is a great friend and she helps me out in those situations. I guess this is the down side of being the "young" teacher. Nobody else really has kids as young as mine. I'm just so lucky to have such a studly boy for a son.

I "think" I have another good class. It is weird because every year so far I have had lots of my friends kids in my class and this year I only already knew a couple of the kids. It seems to be another good group, but what do I know it's only been a week! The first month of first grade is so long, for them and me! They are tired, hungry, sick, sad, missing mommy, etc, etc, etc.... seriously. I just tell them "me too honey let's get through it together". Well, wish us luck this new school year!

Dog Gone Lazy!

Okay, so everyone who knows us well knows that our dogs are part of our family. I often refer to them as my girls or as PJ's sisters. Stupid I know, but we just love our dogs. Presley is so sweet and she has had to overcome so many tough times in her life. She scares most people because she is really protective of us... our guard dog. It's only a disguise. All you have to do is talk to her and she will simmer down and lick ya. Furgy isn't even a year old yet and she is so smart and sweet. If the door is cracked one bit Furgy will sneak in. Last week after playing in the barn she snuck in and PJ yelled, "Mom, there is like a huge mess of dirt and sand in my bed. We had to wash the bedding right away. That little rascal Furgy. They both love being cuddled and loved and believe me they get it. They are also quite the cow dogs.

Anyways, I took these pictures this summer because they just crack me up. These girls really do have a hard life... Can't you tell... They make the term "Dog Gone Lazy" literal.

Lagoon and Zoo time!

We finally made a trip to take the kids to Lagoon and the zoo. We went with the Deets family. They always make our trips fun. We have been spending tons of time with them this summer. Our kids play so well. The boys were very brave and went on all of the scary rides with us. PJ is just barely tall enough to ride them all, and was a trooper. It was soooo hot and busy at Lagoon but we had a fun time. The zoo was perfect. PJ said his favorite ride at Lagoon was the pirate ship (Tidal Wave) and his favorite thing to see at the zoo was the monkeys.... imagine that... my little monkey. Well we ALL made it home, they didn't keep any of us at the zoo so I think we had a successful trip! :)

Catching Up!!

I am a huge slacker on this blogging thing. We are sure enjoying our summer. We have been running around like crazy and have been staying up too late and sleeping in!! Only a short amount of time until I have to start going back to work. School starts on the 25th.

Payton went with his Grandma to California for 2 weeks and my life changed a bit while he was gone. He is back and I am happy. It gets lonely without my little buddy.

Here are some random pictures I haven't posted yet...

I was looking for PJ and looked out the front door to see this...

We sure love our dogs. Presley is a sweetie. She is like a big pillow. She will also lay down and give me a foot rest at times.

Aunt Jessi was in town for a few days. She is way better at building forts than I am. Of course she makes the mess and then leaves. Oh, well...

What is it with the sleepovers? This is a change for me. My baby is now a boy and he is getting bigger and older. It is fun but definetly a change!
