rain + dirt = muddy boys

We have had so much rain this summer! At our house, that means lots of mud!It hasn't kept the boys from their summer fun. PJ and Cubby rode bikes in the field and found a huge mud puddle to ride through. However, one of the puddles was so deep that it was hard to ride all the way through it. The first time they came back to the house they had mud all over their clothes. They stripped down and I gave them swim trunks to go play in... It was fun for them but they STUNK!

Payton has been riding a lot in the arena. He is riding Jory's good rodeo horse Hunk. PJ is so good and natural on a horse just like his daddy. He looks so little on big ol' Hunk!

SCHOOL IS OUT FOR SUMMER...

Oh my... time has flown by! So much has been happening yet I am sooo behind on blogging. For starters, PJ has officially graduated second grade! He had a great year and a great teacher. He did a great job in second grade. He is so ready for summer however and how can I blame him... he is the first kid there in the morning and the last one to leave after school because of my schedule. On the last day he got to meet his third grade teacher. I cannot believe my baby is going to be in third grade!!! Before school was out Payton's class had a talent show. It was so cute and funny. Payton of course, showed off his roping skills. He didn't understand why everyone laughed when he said, "I'm gonna be roping the dummy". Mrs. Henderson asked how long he has been roping and he said, "pretty much my whole life". FUNNY BOY!

I have officially graduated first grade myself... I had another great year and super students. I will miss them! About a month before school got out I was informed that I was being reassigned to fifth grade for my fifth year of teaching! I was really sad because I have loved being a first grade teacher. However, time has eased my pain and I am actually looking forward to the change now. It is a huge change though. When I graduated college I NEVER had intentions of ever teaching the little ones. I'm glad I had the experience and maybe one day I will "choose" to go back. :)

Summer is already starting off crazy! Between PJ's baseball, Jory's roping, and my softball and volleyball we are go, go, going... I also have picked up a fun new little summer job. My cute sub the past 3 years opened up a fun little pub in town and I have been working weekends the past month on top of everything else. It has actually been a really fun job. I am going to work 2-3 nights a week. I have never had so many duckets in my wallet! $$$

Anyways, I will try to keep up at least once a week on my blogging but you never know! Tomorrow I am going to paint my bathroom. I am ready for a home spa feeling to relax in after all the craze! It's time to freshen it up! Happy summer to all!!!

Big Vocabulary...

I have to post these funny things the little one has said lately. He really cracks me up sometimes. I'm not sure if it is the fact he is an only child or if he is just really this smart with his big vocabulary. He is like a miniature adult sometimes. Jory and I laugh because he is so not us when we were his age. Anyways...

The other day we were riding in the car and this was the conversation:
PJ: "Mom, when can I ever sluff school?" (Raydean's fault, her kids get to)
Me: "Payton, We can't sluff. You just need to concentrate on being the best you can be with school okay?"
PJ: "Well actually, that is my goal in life right now... to go to college."
Me: "Good. That should be your goal, because you are going."
PJ: "Yea, and then when I get there I will make a new goal, and so on..."

I just had to laugh.

Yesterday we were playing catch in the back yard and I was trying to give him some throwing pointers. He has the excuse for not throwing the way I'm telling him by saying, "Mom, your like 2 decades older than me."

On Sunday Nans was playing Wii with him and she beat him and he says, "Now was that necessary?"

All kids say funny things now and then, believe me I know. I spend my days among plenty of children. The funny thing about Payton is that he is SO SERIOUS when he says these things. That boy... I just love him so much! I had to share.

Spring... Finally!

Is anyone out there as excited as me that Spring is finally here? Oh, I am so ready for it. I think it may be my favorite season ever. Weather feels just right minus the stupid wind. With the longer days and warmer weather that means one thing at our house... ROPING! Jory and PJ have been going everyday. Jory has already been roping in jackpots and rodeos the past couple of weekends. These are pictures of Payton with his horse Ike. Ike is modeling the new head stall that he got for Christmas. So now Ike has PJ's name across his forehead. As you can see Payton was totally annoyed of me taking all the pictures. I guess I was taking away from his riding time, but you know it is hard to get a good picture with animals. They don't listen to instruction that well... Enjoy the weather!

Happy "Green" Day!

I usually get really into St. Patrick's Day... especially at school because that is my holiday (having the last name and all). However, I was so bummed that I wasn't even going to be at school because I signed up to go to a cool workshop. Anyways, I spent a ton of time making up fun St. Patrick's day stuff for my kiddos and my poor sub didn't even get to half of it! Oh well... As soon as I got to my workshop, I realized I didn't have on green and I hadn't even picked green out for ol' PJ. The beauty of kids is that they will one way or another find green on themselves no matter how significant it is. PJ had a little bit in the words on his shirt... and on the socks!! Ha! Ha! Gotta love that! Anyways... Happy "Green" Day, good luck to all, and I hope you all find your pot of gold!

Our Family is Growing!!

It is true. We have a new member of the family here at our home. She is the cutest, sweetest and smartest little thing already! We went ahead and adopted our 3rd little puppy! Everybody knows how much our dogs are a part of our life, and they have such a tough life. Anyways, I couldn't resist this little pup. She is 6 weeks old and 6 pounds. She is a mini Australian Shepard. We named her Charlie... (PJ wanted Chunk and I liked Marlie...and there you go).

I wanted a lap dog that would be limited to outside barn play. I love all of our dogs, but they always stink and have crap all over them from rolling and playing in the barn. This new little puppy has had already like 10 showers with Jor and just loves to cuddle with me. She has been sleeping with us and I swear it is somewhat like having a newborn baby... so nervous not to roll over on her and all. She is so smart and is already doing so well on the potty thing. Only one accident so far... thank goodness for wood floors, it's not too bad.

Little Charlie is also our new "class pet" at school! Yep, I have been taking her to school for the past week. Not one bit of a distraction to the kiddos :) Look how freakin' cute she is. The kids take her to recess with them and are taking such good care of her. I just love her so much already. She is laying at my feet on my bed with me as we speak.

JEDI

I have to post these pictures. Payton did the JEDI Training at Disneyland and got to fight Darth Vador... His dreams come true. And if you know Payton you know how big of Star Wars lover he is. It was such a perfect thing for him to get to do. I just loved it. What a cool JEDI he is himself...

8 Is GREAT... And SAD!!

Preschool

Kindergarten

First Grade

Second Grade (and you gotta love that crooked cowboy smile)

My 8 year old!!!

I finally have a few minutes to update my blog... and thank goodness because we have hit another milestone here in the Green household... Our baby boy turned 8 years old on February 8th! It seems like just yesterday he was my baby baby boy. I am so sad that he is getting so big. We are really so lucky to have Payton in our lives because he really is an all star kid. He has been so easy ever sense the day we brought him home from the hospital. Maybe that's why he is an only child, my mom always says my next one will be just like me...

Because you are celebrating birthday #8, here are 8 things I love about you today...

1. You are so easy going. You are very chilled and always go with the flow...

2. You are funny. You always are doing impersonations or telling jokes. All the kids know you as the funny one...

3. You are smart. You are always impressing me with your thoughts and skills from reading & math to common sense...

4. You have a big heart. You are so nice. You always go out of your way to help others less fortunate...

5. You have the best manners. In fact you have such good manners, that people go out of their way to tell me how polite you were...

6. You are better at video games than anyone I know. You love them, and I really don't know where that comes from but I love that everyone calls Payton over to help them pass hard levels... (our "Vidiot")

7. You love STAR WARS... EVERYTHING! I really don't know where that comes from either, but I have learned so much...

8. You are a good cowboy. You love your animals, especially your dogs. You are good on a horse and good with a rope, just like your daddy... Again, I have learned so much...

I love that we are so close and talk about everything together. I love watching Avatar with you at night and tucking you in. I love when we pray together and you always mention everyone else and never yourself. I have learned so much from you and you are a great example to me and everyone else too. I'm so glad I really know so much about you and that we were able to spend your first grade year together because I really got to see who you are in a different setting.... I am so proud of you. I love, love, love you!!!

I love these pictures of my baby Payton and his best pal, his cousin Kyler. Kyler turned 12 this month too. In these pictures he was only 4 or 5!!!

And now my baby is a boy... playing with his best buddies, sleepovers and all... wow, I can't believe it!!! Where did time go? SLOW DOWN!

CALIFORNIA

Just another reason for being behind on the blog... We just got back a week ago from our trip to California. It was a fun, fun trip. We went and spent a few days in San Diego and then of course, we went and spent a few days at "the happiest place on earth"... It was the perfect time to go if you ask me. It was so great to get out of this cold, snowy land we call home. We did so much in our time there and we will have lots of memories from our trip... The entire family came... 12 of us in all! I think it was nice for everyone to get away. I'm already looking forward to our trip next year!

We came home last Sunday to a blizzard! Only took us about 5 hours to drive home from the airport. Thank goodness they called Monday a SNOW DAY!!! No school! It was literally quite the reality check! Home sweet home!
