Merry Christmas!!!

Just wishing you all out there a very
Merry Christmas!!!
We've enjoyed our Christmas celebrations this year! I have a lot to blog about... but for now just wishing you a great holiday with your family & friends!

Traditional morning picture of the kids in the hallway... anxiously awaiting to see what Santa has left for them!

Me... I just woke up! Have my "eyeballs" in, but that is as far I got!

Chuck... probably wasn't ready for this picture (by the look on his face), but it was all I got of him alone! He had his "Santa" hat on and ready to hand out presents!

Pancakes Anyone???

So today I let Tyler take Macee out front to play (this never happens because I'm an over-protective mom) because he wanted someone out there with him to play with his new remote control car. So, of course, me being the over-protective mom has to prep Macee. I told her not to go in the street. I then asked her what would happen to her if she went into the street. She replied, "I will get squished... like a pannycake!" Good girl!!! I've taught her well. I know that she understands because when Tyler crossed the street to get his car from the neighbors front yard she just stood on the sidewalk and patiently waited for him to come back! I opened the door and praised her... hopefully it will help her always think right and want to obey when she is given instructions... positive reinforcement!!!

Bittersweet...

We just sold our piano at the beginning of this month. I was ready to sell it, but still, it held a special place in my heart. That was our first piano, and I always have a hard time letting things go, even if it is the right thing to do. So I was at work the night that the men moved the piano out and I came home to "emptyness". It was a weird feeling. Doesn't feel too empty right now with the Christmas tree up and all the decorations. It will be nice once I get my house back to "normal" and have some extra room!!! Thanks mom & dad for the "new" piano!

Thanksgiving Day!

We enjoyed Thanksgiving Day with my mom's side of the family. We went to Billy & Karen's house for the festivities.
On our way over it there was a beautiful scene with the clouds (if you don't already know, clouds are my FAVORITE!!!), couldn't resist a picture.
Billy & Karen set up their garage with toys and a TV to keep the kids entertained. They thoroughly enjoyed it!
We enjoyed the company of Grandma Nichols (my mom's mom), Aunt Kathleen (my mom's sister) & Uncle Don, 2 of their 6 kids came, Kathryn with her family, Ryan (hubby), Lucy & Elsa (twin daughters) and Katie with her family, Renny (hubby), Raiden, Logan & Parker (her 3 boys), my mom & dad, Billy & Karen and their kids, Karynn, Dallin, Reagan & Garrett and of course my family. It was an enjoyable day, we ate and played games and just relaxed a bit (and ate some more...). Thanks my family for enjoying Thanksgiving Day with me and my family. I'm grateful for each of you (yes, even those of you who didn't come!).
Me & my cousin Katie... the "10lb twins". We were born 3 weeks apart and weighed 10 lbs (and some ozs) each!!! CRAZY!!! Thanks for being my "twin" Katie! And sending fast, healthy healing your way!!! (She just broke her knee cap and had to have surgery to fix it! She is such a trooper!)

Santa's Lap

For a PTO fundraiser we had a "Santa Night" at our school. Maddy and Macee were eager to sit on Santa's lap, but Tyler is starting to be "too cool" for that kind of stuff. It makes me kinda sad to see that time in our lives go, but it has to happen at some point.

Tyler's Got Talent!!!

So Tyler decided to join the orchestra this year at his school. He chose to play the violin... just like I did so many years ago (no, I don't still play, I gave it up at the end of 6th grade to take Home Ec). He is using the very violin I played way back when (thanks mom for taking good care of it so we have it to use!). Here are a couple of pictures from his concert. I didn't make it to the night concert (I had school), but I slipped in for the daytime school concert. It was fun to see him play! His stand partner is his friend Parker.

Mom & Dad...

So my mom & dad decided that they wanted to get re-married! We were all so excited for them (what kid doesn't want their parents to get back together???). They chose to get married again on Nov 28th (Black Friday my dad pointed out...).

It was a very nice ceremony and dinner. My mom ordered flowers for all the kids, so the boys had boutonnieres and the girls all had wrist corsages.

I have learned a great deal from this experience in my life. I'm grateful for the chance my parents have to work on their relationship. As I think about relationships, I know it is not just "a walk in the park". Marriage is something you work on day in and day out... there are ups and downs associated with marriage. I just hope that the downs will help me grow (and each of you out there) and become closer to your spouse.

Did you know...

That there are no stairs leading down from the balcony at the Red Mountain MCC Campus? Are you asking me why does this matter... well it does matter when you walk out of the door upstairs onto the balcony past 10pm (when you are leaving) and the doors are automatically locked from the outside at 10pm. You can get out of the building, but no re-entering! So, yes, Autumn (my lab partner) and I learned this the hard way last night after studying for 3 hours. We walked out when the janitor said we needed to leave and didn't think anymore about it until we realized there are no stairs leading down from the balcony and ALL the doors were locked. So after we both thought about how we would have to get down without stairs (Autumn's idea was more "Mission Impossible" while mine required "cute firemen"...), Autumn spotted an elevator and we were free from the "balcony prison". So there is a fun story for you all and a lesson learned for everyone who is attending or will ever be attending MCC at Red Mountain... there are no outside stairs from the balcony. One last thought... isn't that a fire hazard???

OK... so I'm slacking...

I have been super-ultra busy lately. These past two weeks of school have been "fully loaded!!!" Anyways... I just took my Math Final this morning and feel I did really good on it and I have my Biology Final on Tuesday night (not too stressed about this one). So... what have I been up to? LOTS... I have a lot to catch up on, but just thought I would post a little something today. I have a new template to my blog and posted some new family pictures (thanks Lauren). See my sidebar to see some of them. I have to go get kiddos ready for the ward Christmas party tonight so I'll be signing off, but sometime (probably after Tuesday night) I will get caught up on "Life at the Melsers"... but for now, take a look at this cute little girl!
