And Jelly Peanut Butter Sandwich

I have a funny story I wanted to document and share. Last night Owen and Merideth picked me up from work (I ride the train). When I got in the car, Owen said, "Daddy, are you hungry?" To which I replied, "A little bit." He said, "Do you want the sandwich I have in my lunch box." I then asked, "What kind is it?" And he replied,"It's and jelly peanut butter."

Anyway, I just thought it was so cute he called it an "and jelly peanut butter sandwich." He knew the name of the sandwich had those words in it, but just got the order a bit mixed up.

Better Late Than Never, Right?

Wow, it has been a loong four months since I've been active in the blogging world. I do feel like I have some pretty good excuses for my lack of attendance though! Ever since Landon started working the end of April, I feel like our lives have been totally out of control and extremely busy. I'm not sure why! So Owen has sat through two movies while I've looked through pictures and posted all the new info on what we've been doing since the last post. There are a lot of new posts, so make sure you don't miss out on any! It's good to be back!

P.S. Owen and I are already in the Halloween spirit big time, hence the festive background. I'm already being tempted to put our decorations up!

We're Finally Expecting! And...It's a Boy!

Well, we finally got the results we'd been waiting for for quite some time back in June. We were finally going to add on to our little family! We are pretty excited. Besides a few months of morning sickness and being constantly tired, everything is going well! I am about 17 weeks, it has gone by so fast! I am due sometime the end of February.

Last week we gave in and decided to find out the gender early. We went to a place in Salt Lake and took Owen with us. As soon as the ultrasound started, I could see his little hand moving and it looked like he was waving at us! About five seconds later, Landon said, "It's a boy, isn't it?" Apparently it was pretty obvious and luckily he wasn't too shy in showing himself off. A couple times the technician kept saying how obvious it was and how she hadn't seen one so obvious from so many angles. Haha. Landon asked Owen what we should name his little brother and Owen said, "Scarlett!", which was a girl name we all really liked for a girl. We broke the news to him that that name wasn't going to be an option anymore. Owen quickly responded with, "Michael Jackson!". It was pretty hilarious. The ultrasound lasted about 15 minutes. It was so fun to just watch him hang out in there. I felt like we saw his little personality through his actions. It made me feel a lot closer to him. We saw him laying on his stomach and he had his hands on his head, strumming his fingers. It was so funny! He did it for at least 10-15 seconds. We also saw him yawn and cuddle up like he was going to take a nap. The technician kept saying how she'd never seen a baby moving his mouth so much and his head side to side. I guess he was wanting to talk to us! I'm glad we found out early. Now we just need to come up with a name for this little guy!

House Progress

Back in July before any work had been started on our house, my Mom put on a little groundbreaking ceremony for us out on our lot. She even got a little shovel and spray painted it gold to make it seem official! It was fun. Then when we were in Washington, they started to dig and lay the foundation. Landon made sure to text me lots of pictures. Before we knew it, they had the whole house framed. We didn't even get any pictures of the process because they were so speedy. I love the picture of Owen standing next to the porch. He was saying, "Our house is done!" The current closing date is November 2nd, so hopefully they keep close to it. We are currently having issues with the builder, they decided to up and change the kitchen ceiling on us without telling us. We're on the brink of suing them. Hopefully we get it resolved in the next day or so. It has been a lot of fun to go out and see the updates on our house! It's so fun to walk around inside and see it all come together.

Hiking Timpanogos

At the end of August we were finally able to hike to the Timpanogos Cave, which is something that Landon had been telling Owen we'd do sometime during the summer. We started the hike at 8:00am and had to be at the top by 9:30 for our tour. We arrived a little late but were still able to make it on time! Landon ended up carrying Owen most of the time, and he was still way in front of me! It was neat seeing the caves. Owen got a little scared when they turned all the lights out so you could experience the true darkness of the cave. It was fun though and we all had sore legs the next day!

Maddie's Blessing

Labor Day weekend we were able to go up for our niece's blessing. She is getting so big already! It was so fun to be able to spend time with Jared and Jenna. Jared even took us out for a ride on the combine! Owen was so excited because it's the same thing that chases Lightning McQueen and Mater after the cow tractor tipping. Click here to see the pictures on Jenna's blog.

Happy 26th to Me!

Here I am on my birthday, 14 weeks pregnant. As much as I want to become good at photography, I am not great at taking pictures, especially when it comes to me being in them. Anyway, it's pretty much the first side shot I've taken this pregnancy.

Seabrook, WA

In mid August my family (minus Landon, which was a huge bummer to not have him with us due to work), went on our annual trip to the Washington coast. As always, it was a blast, but we definitely missed Landon. We hardly get any cell phone service there but luckily the house had free long distance calling. Before the coast, Marci, Taylor, Owen & I went to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma. Owen was the most excited about seeing the small sharks in their aquarium. Unfortunately I didn't get good pictures in there. We got a seed stick for him to feed to a bird and I was surprised at how brave he was. He didn't even flinch when the bird had finished all the seeds and went to peck on his finger! At the coast we just relaxed. It's always a very laid back vacation. My favorite memories were naps on the beach, drinking hot chocolate on the porch at night, (the temperature is very cool there, so hot chocolate and hot-tubbing are necessities at night! Unfortunately this time I wasn't able to hot tub since I'm pregnant), and roasting marshmellows with everyone. Owen really got into story telling that night and it was hilarious. I was able to read 'The Help' while we were gone. It was a fun read and a very good book. I can't wait to go back next year, hopefully with Landon in tow!

Cousin Maddie

While we were in Montana, Landon's sister Jenna had her first baby and the family's first granddaughter! This adorable girl is named Madelyn. Since Rexburg, ID was practically on our way home, we were able to stop and see them at the hospital. Landon's Sister and Mom had made the trip from Texas and were there as well. Owen and I were able to stay in Idaho with them all and Landon came back the next night after work. Landon's Dad and brothers also came into town so it was definitely a fun get together! Madelyn is so darling and we can't wait to watch her grow up!

Montana Bar Trip

Towards the end of July, we traveled up to Missoula, MT for the Bar Exam. Landon had only gotten two weeks off of work to study for it, and those two weeks happened to be the worst of my morning sickness. Luckily, we all pulled through. We were so glad to get the bar behind us. I can't believe that I didn't get any pictures of Landon on this trip, I am such a slacker. Owen and I had a good time during the three days of the testing. We found a pretty city garden to walk through, found a fun merry-go-round to ride (twice). It was the fastest spinning merry-go-round I'd ever been on, which didn't help with the nauseous tummy! We went to the mall and found the candy store and the pet shop. Our hotel had a bounce house out front that we couldn't get Owen to get off of one night. The first day we picked Landon up from taking the bar, he had finished up a whole hour early! He said he was the first one to be done. It was pretty much the same the second and third day. It was a fun mini trip, even if Landon was taking the test half the time. We are eager to get the results back soon!

Ogden Dinosaur Park

Back in June, I took Owen to the Dinosaur Park in Ogden. We'd been there once before with Landon and Owen loved it. We had a lot of fun. They have a ton of dinosaurs all throughout the park, a sand area to uncover fossils, and a place to color pictures, read books, and do puzzles.

Still in Shock!

We got quite the surprise last month when the morning of his graduation, Landon got a phone call from a law firm in Salt Lake wanting to interview him for a job. We really didn't think anything would come of it. Landon wasn't even signed up for the Utah bar and we thought for sure that it would be a deal breaker. We had been planning on moving to Montana for five months and it was so weird to think of anything else happening.
Monday came and we went to Salt Lake for the interview, and when we went to pick Landon up, he said that things had gone really well! A couple hours later, he got a phone call with the job offer! We couldn't be more surprised, shocked, and excited! I still catch myself thinking about "when we live in Montana", but then I remember that Landon is at work, as a lawyer, in Salt Lake!
I'm not really sure why this blessing was saved for us until the last minute, but we are so grateful to be able to stay in Utah.
What's equally awesome as staying in Utah, is that we get to buy a HOUSE to live in! We are going to have a house built in Daybreak, basically our dream neighborhood. The first picture is our lot. Our house will face the other cute homes across the way. The next one is a picture of what our house will look like, just different colors. Basically, I'm in love with it. You can click here to see a bigger picture of it. The house won't be finished until September or October, so we will stay in Provo until then. Even after we move to South Jordan, you'll probably find us still pinching ourselves to make sure we aren't in a dream!

Moab

We were planning on going to Moab with my parents the last weekend in April, but with Landon's unexpected job start, he was unable to come with us. :( We were only there for about 24 hours, but we had fun! Owen loved hiking up to see the Delicate Arch and now every time he sees it on the Utah license plate, he gets very excited. We camped at the local KOA that night, and boy was it cold! I woke up in the middle of the night and looked at the temperature on my phone. It was 34 degrees! I put Owen in the sleeping bag with me so we wouldn't freeze. It was fun a trip and Owen loved "looking" for dinosaur bones along the trails.

Easter

Holidays are so much fun right now with Owen. For weeks before Easter he kept asking us if it was Easter bunny time. So you can imagine his excitement when we woke him up Sunday morning and told him that it was finally Easter bunny time! The Easter bunny brought him a dinosaur puzzle that he absolutely loves. He does it at least once a day and by now can do it all by himself, even though it's 48 pieces. Owen's friend Max had an egg hunt in his backyard the day before Easter, and Owen loved finding the hidden eggs. Owen has already started deciding what he wants to be for Halloween. As of right now he has chosen to be a paleontologist.

Dino Feet

Owen is still all about dinosaurs. One day we decided to do a fun craft and found this online and decided to attempt it. They are a little difficult for him to really walk around in, but it was fun making them with him!
