FNSI Update

Last night I joined in again with FNSI and again I knitted.  I am nearly finished this shawl - less than 12 rows to go.  I would have finished last night but Kristen and I were off to the movies.

I forgot to say on my last post what the pattern was called.  It is "The Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief" and is a free pattern I found on Ravelry.  I am going a bit bigger than the kerchief and doing the shawl. My plan is to finish it this weekend.

I also made this little bolero a couple of months ago and just had to put a button on it and done this last night. Now off to block it and into the stash ready for the local A&P show Home Industries entries later this year. With the left over yarn I also made a little turban hat to go with it. The patterns were found on Ravelry and called Entrechat By Lisa Chemery and the hat is Karina Baby Turban by Mariannas Lazy Daisy Designs.

Yesterday I also done some baking.  My daughter Kristen comes to stay on her days off regularly and yesterday she complained there was nothing in the tins to snack on, so while she was out at the dentist I cranked up the oven and started baking.

The best cooking book out is the Edmonds Cookery Book, a New Zealand staple in every kitchen for years.  I have five of them and this edition that is now 30 years old is the best one. You can see I use it a lot obviously.

So yesterday I made some Peanut Brownies, Chocolate Chip Biscuits and a Sultana Cake.  I was going to make some ANZAC biscuits due to it being ANZAC Day on Tuesday, but when I went into the cupboard there was no golden syrup.  I will be making some in the next couple of days definitely when I get some.

Kristen does bring baking with her often, but this time she brought it for a friend who picked up an item for her while they were in Auckland instead and they were some good looking Afghans I missed out on.

Finally, yesterday Kristen and I went to our local dog grooming shop as last weekend when they had their grand opening of the new business, she couldn't make it.  While there, I bought Snowy and the gran pup Rusko a K9Chew and they love it.

FNSI

On Friday night I joined in with FNSI though I done some knitting.

This is where my Dirty Lace wrap is up to now and I will admit there has been a bit of frogging going on.  Pays to do the lace component when you are not tired.

Granpup Rusko had to check some of the yarn out and he has been a good boy and not run of with it yet.

He knows when he is being a good boy.  Look at those gorgeous eyes.  His mum is in Australia at the moment at CMC and returns home on Wednesday.  It will be the longest they have been apart since she got him, but he loves being spoilt at Nan-nans

Finally, I do not know why it took me so long to read J. D. Robb's 'In Death' series.  I read often, and her books as Nora Roberts, but am loving these books and getting my collection up to read.  Below is the latest one I am reading.

FNSI Result

Last night in I joined in FNSI and completed half the top front of this Millie Cardigan I am making.

It is a design I have seen a number of times knitted up and wanted to do it for my self. So when I was away recently I saw the pattern and I had to grab it.

Then today I went to my local fabric store and grabbed this love Dusky Pink Merino skein to make another.

I also received my parcel from Skeinz today.  They had a lucky dip sale on Thursday and I just had to get some. I have plans already what I may make.

Yesterday I also had a craving for some homemade spaghettis so I grabbed some tomatoes and a small lot of golden queen peaches and became productive today.

The sound of the pops is a very nice sound to hear.

Come join FNSI

Well last year and blogging didn't pan out.  I note when I last blogged was when I had really just changed jobs and then straight into more post grad study and also a short course certificate, as well as learning my new job.

But ten months later and my only sanity is currently knitting and reading.  My job is still topsy turvey with my colleague getting a different job and also my boss leaving so I am doing some of that too, but it is nearly over and I will be back to some normality.  It is all part and parcel of healthcare currently and I am just glad I am off the wards.

Anyway as I previous said I have been doing a bit of knitting and have a number of items that need finishing off, so this Friday I am taking part in FNSI over at Sugarlane Designs and I will attempt to get some knitting done this night while maybe watching a movie.

Hope to see you there.

FNSI Results

Yay my first FNSI in a long time.

So this evening I had a look through my stash and found this kit I bought a couple of years ago and decided it was about time I started it

So I got everything I needed and sat in the lounge in front of the TV just as Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers started, and watched and stitched away for the whole movie

After 3 1/2 hrs this is how far I progressed

Not a bad effort for some who has lost, but may be gaining their sewing mojo back.

If you want to have a look at what other people done click here and go have a look.

It's FNSI time

Its a new year and it has to better than 2020.  I am going to try and get my sewing mojo back and with three weeks annual leave from today what a better way to start it with ........ FNSI

I have not done much in crafting since the local A&P Show last year but over on Facebook I see Wendy from Sugarlane Designs was holding FNSI tonight so thought why not join as I haven't for quite a long time.

So head on over to her page and sign up to join in tonight for some stitching fun and check back tomorrow on everyone's blogs to see what was done.

I think I may also spend some time tiding up my blog too.

FNSI Update

I had good intentions to start some knitting on Friday night.
I bought some wool, have plenty of needles and even have pattern books, but I thought why not look online for another pattern.

Well that was my night gone with both Ralvery and Pinterest

Oh well will try again next month

FNSI Result

I don't get to do much stitching these days due to my thesis which I have about 4 weeks to complete the draft for.  However who could turn down a quiet Friday evening for the monthly FNSI.

Not much was done again but another hexagon flower was finished, while sitting watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix (what did I do before Netflix?).

Then on Saturday Miss 20 turned Miss 21.  As she is up in Auckland we didn't get to spend it with her but will see her again the end of May where she will be getting a special gift from us.

The rest of my weekend was spent going to open homes.  I am finding it much harder to find a house to live in than a rental for investment and out of all the houses I have seen only two have taken my fancy which are a little bit above my price range.  But you never know what happens on auction day.

FNSI Update

On Friday was the monthly FNSI.  As I was working that evening I decided to do a bit of sewing before I went.  Now with the heat of the day that was a mean feat, and the heat is not going away anytime soon either.  One plan for our house is to get air conditioning. Fans just don't cut it when we have 30 -35 degree days here currently.

So while bloobed out in front of the TV watching Grimm I stitched up just one hexagon to send away in the HexiMail group I am part of on Facebook before the heat got to me.

These are the other hexagon flower I have also stitched in the last week, which will be in the post tomorrow.

FNSI Results

Well I am sitting here typing this and watching the New Zealand Black Caps play the West Indies (who have just lost their 8th wicket ...yay)  in the quarter finals of the 2015 Cricket World cup.  I think after watching New Zealands batting innings that Martin Guptill must be one of the best batsman in the world.....237 not out..... well I currently think he is the best!!!  The second highest ever in a World Cup and 5th all time highest ever.  With him and Brendon McCullum New Zealand are a formidable force.  New Zealand have never made it to a final, just the semis ...... Is this the year they do, fingers and toes crossed here

Anyway on to FNSI results.  I was quite busy last night stitching away on my Natures Journey blocks.  I am a month behind but am making progress in catching up.

These are my background fabrics and there is a lovely Tilda fabric in with these.  Can you guess which one?

I cut my squares out and traced the circles and squares on them

I have now blanket stitched the first months and just to applique them now.  A skill I am not that great on yet.

And finishing writing this up, and other wicket has been lost,  West Indies are 221-9.  Such a great game.

FNSI Results

Not much done this time, but at least I done something on this busy week.

The stitchery of a little gift bag which is in Simply Christmas 2013 by Gail Pan Designs

I have made one of these bags before and loved how simple it was.  This bag will be put away for one of the many Christmas swaps I will be signing up for later this year.  Never to early to start I say.

FNSI

On Friday night I joined in with the girls for another night of stitching.  This time round I started and finished block 2 of the Lets Start Christmas stitch-along, though I am quite behind at the moment due to work, study and packing up my house for our move in just under 3 weeks time.
