It's swimmin' time!

We took Max to the pool for the 1st time this year and he still loves the water!

The water was freezing so Max had to take a few breaks to warm up...but then the towel would be thrown off and back in the water he went!

Max also got his summer cut this afternoon. When the girl turned him around to see his hair that chin of his started quivering and he said "I want my hair back." That child can be so pitiful sometimes!

Oh, and it was the strangest thing...I asked Don to take a picture of me today at the pool in my bikini and right after he took the picture the camera just broke all to pieces. So weird.

Randomness #2

* I've been a slacker blogger lately - both in posting and commenting. I tell you what though, there is not much right now that I want to do other than lay on my side and daydream about actually sleeping. And, is it me or are the days going reeeeaaally slowly lately?

* We had our last ultrasound yesterday at the "old women having babies" doctor. The babies look great and they estimated baby boy to weigh 7 lbs and baby girl to weigh 6 lbs - give or take a pound either way.

* I had an appointment with my regular OB doctor this morning and everything is status quo. Just keep on keepin' on until June 16 (I'll be 38 weeks) or go to the hospital if I go into labor before then - please Lord let that be the case! Oh, and I'm measuring 43 weeks (if I was pregnant with one baby).

* I'm 35 weeks as of this past Monday. Here are some pictures I took yesterday (Tuesday).

Let me point out the black pants that I am wearing in almost every picture of me since I was about 12 weeks pregnant. I have two of the exact same pair (bought them at Target) and I literally wear them 6-7 days a week. They sit below my tummy and don't bind, they're made of stretchy material, they have wide legs so they semi-hide weight gain, and they are really long which works well for me. So, if you are prego you must go get a pair, or two or three...you won't regret it. I would say you could have mine when I'm done but I'm thinking I'll still be wearing them for months to come.

* Max's last day of school was last Friday and they had a picnic to celebrate. Here are a few pictures of Max, his buddies and his teacher.

Max and his teacher, Mrs. Stoddard...she was GREAT!

* We took Max to see Night at the Museum. I thought it was pretty funny and Max did too. He keeps telling us his favorite part of the movie was when the statue flexes his muscles and then says "fiwah powah." Cracks me up every time he says it.

* We went over my parent's house the afternoon of Memorial Day. Check out the bear we found hanging out above the tree house. Looks real, huh? The kids didn't quite know what to think and were pretty apprehensive but who cares...nothing like scaring your children for a good laugh!

* Oh, and thanks to my buddy, Nikki, I have now become completely obsessed with Sonic ice. Did you know you can buy it in 10 lb bags? I didn't until Nikki told me and I'm now on my 5th bag. I think it costs around $1.20 something a bag but well worth it. My husband couldn't understand my obsession but I have since seen him get several glasses full of Sonic ice to go with his Mt. Dew. It's addictive!

WARNING...SHALLOWNESS AHEAD

* I, like a lot of people, tuned in to see the Jon and Kate premier the other night. I still can't stop thinking about it and still can't believe they're letting all of this play out on TV where their children are bound to hear about it - whether it be now or down the road. It just seems that they're now use to a certain lifestyle so there's no way they could stop the show at this point. It's just sad and it's sad that I'm watching it.

* And I'm so disappointed with Jillian and the bachelors. Seriously, could they have picked a worse group of guys who, incidentally, use more hair gel than I have ever used in my entire life??? Don and I watched it and literally had to keep turning away because we were so embarrassed for these people. But, I will continue to watch it and be sucked into the train wreck.

Okay, that's it for now - exciting huh? Maybe next time you hear from me it will be with some really exciting news...we'll see!

False Alarm #1

Well, we had our first false alarm. I was having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions last night (I personally thought it was the excitement from the start of the Bachelorette which, by the way, has some CHEESY guys vying for Jillian's heart) but then I started to get some cramping with them around midnight. So, after awhile of them not getting better I decided we should probably go to the hospital and get it checked out. So, we were there at 2:30 and left late this morning. Bottom line...my cervix looks good and the contractions were being caused by the lovely bladder infection I just found out I have - no wonder I've been going to the bathroom every 5 minutes and have to walk like an 80 year old woman! But, the worse part was I had a repeat of what happened when I got checked into the hospital with Max over 5 years ago. I was given Brethine (muscle relaxer to stop the contractions) and instead of making my heart rate go up (which is what it normally does) it made my blood pressure drop - to 39/25. The nurse said she had never seen that happen in the 8 years she had been working...nice. I can't even explain the feeling except that I couldn't breathe and was starting to black out. But, after getting oxygen and IV fluids in me I started to feel better within 10 minutes. They would have probably sent me home within an hour or two, but after that episode the doctor told me "you just checked yourself into labor and delivery."

But, since everything stabilized I was able to come home and was just told to take it easy. I'll be on several antibiotics for a week and hopefully that will take care of my current issues. I'm off to take a nap since I got no sleep last night. I told Don that it's impossible to get any rest while at the hospital and he said "wasn't hard for me." Men...gotta love them! :)

Randomness

*I hardly ever have music on my blog, but I LOVE this song! It's the new song by Daughtry. Seriously, Chris Daughtry (from several seasons ago on American Idol) has one of my favorite voices ever. I can't help it...I love a good pop rock song!

*The Bachelorette starts tomorrow night and I can hardly wait! Jillian from last season's Bachelor (who got jilted by Jason - lucky for her) is the new girl and I think she will be a great one. The only problem I see with it is that the babies are going to come during this season - do you think they will like The Bachelorette too?

*This will be Max's last week of K-4. He loves going to school and especially loves playing with his friend, Mitchell. Max will be going back to the same school next year for K-5, but Mitchell won't. When I finally broke the news to him his voiced started to quiver and he said "I'm going to miss him." It was just pitiful. Anyway, we have loved his teacher and his school (it's the preschool associated with our church) and have had such a great experience.

*My parents and my sister and her family came over last night to help finish up some baby stuff. We now have 3 cribs up in our house - two upstairs in the nursery and one downstairs in our guest bedroom/Don's office. They also hung some pictures of Max that we had taken two years ago that have been sitting in a closet...better late than never.

*I must admit something and I do feel a little strange about it, but something tells me I'll get over that feeling quickly. We have decided to hire a lady (post partum doula is her title) who will help us out at night for awhile. She's going to start immediately when the babies come home from the hospital and will really help me with scheduling, breastfeeding, and not getting too overwhelmed and exhausted. My mom and sister will help me during the day, but with recovering from surgery, taking care of two babies and a 5 year old we just decided that this would be a good idea. Especially since Don owns his own business and it's not always an option to just shut things down. So, I'm excited about our decision and not as scared as I was about what will happen when we bring the babies home. Her name is Susan and something tells me she may be my new BFF after a few nights of helping me out!

*I will be 34 weeks tomorrow. Our maternal fetal doctor told us last month that our goal should be to get to 34 weeks and we did it! My next goal is 36 weeks...we shall see.

*In case my body decides to keep these babies right where they are we have actually scheduled a c-section for Tuesday, June 16. That day also happens to be my sister Shari's birthday...how cool would that be? I've been told the odds of us going that long aren't too good, but I should have gained some brownie points with Shari by at least trying for her birthday...don't you think?

*Speaking of babies, this new Gallup Poll makes me happy. http://www.gallup.com/poll/118399/More-Americans-Pro-Life-Than-Pro-Choice-First-Time.aspx

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mommies out there...hope you've had a great day! For some reason on Mother's Day it's still hard to believe I'm an actual mom. I mean, am I really mature enough to be responsible for a child? Don't answer that please.

Mother's Day weekend started off Friday with a special program in Max's classroom for all the mommies. The kids made us little gifts and sang a few songs they had been practicing. It was adorable!

I love how Max always puts his hands in his pockets.

All the mommies were queens for the day!

may3

Here are two videos I took of Max singing. They are long so only my family is required to watch them. I do love the song they sing in the first video and the second one is pretty funny.

Then that same night a group of mommy friends (three of us are pregnant) went out for sushi. I think this will be my last night out for a long time...it takes A LOT of effort to get me out in the evening. But, it was fun and we pretty much talked about babies, birthing babies and then more baby stories. All the husbands took the kids to Fuddruckers and I'm sure all they talked about was babies too.

may4

I walked downstairs this morning to find both my boys eating Fruit Loops...for some reason I just thought it was funny and cute!

may5

Here's the reason I'm a mommy...my boy MAX!!! (as you can see, I was all about the same shirt on Friday and today...like I've said before, my choices are very limited these days)

may6

Here are my week 33 belly pictures...don't be frightened!

may7

may8

So, I start week 33 tomorrow and I honestly can't believe I've made it this far. I'll admit that I'm very uncomfortable, not getting a lot of sleep and just plain wishing the next few weeks away. Is that horrible? Everything is pretty much done except for things like hanging a few pictures, installing the car seats and packing a bag for the hospital. Speaking of, any suggestions on what I need to take to the hospital would be greatly appreciated...not sure exactly what I need but I've got to figure it out soon!

Okay, so sorry for the long post. I hope everyone has a great week!

One last hurrah!

My sister had a little get together for me at her house last Thursday evening. My good buddy, Tracy, and my mom also helped out - with a super yummy cream cheese pound cake and my favorite Mile High Strawberry Pie! Oh my goodness, these girls were nuts and I laughed so hard all night...I had so much fun and they gave our babies some really nice things. So sweet.

My buddy Tracy. We worked together at Deloitte and have known each other for 10 years...this girl is F-U-N-N-Y!

show9

My friends Tina, Sherry, Jane and Sally. Tina and I have known each other since kindergarten and Sherry and I have been friends since my early 20's. I got to know Jane years ago through my sister and then there's Sally...my good friend (and roommate) for a long time...known her since I was in elementary school.

show8

Cheri, who is in the green sweater, drove up from Atlanta with her little girl. We've been friends since elementary school and use to walk to get a Frosty at Wendy's when our brothers played soccer - back in the day when our parents could let us go out and play all day long and never worry about us.

show5

The family - me, Andrea, mother and Lily.

show4

My friends Christine and Rebecca. Christine and I have known each other since our early 20's when we worked together. She is 20 weeks pregnant herself! This is the girl who doesn't mess around - met her husband last summer, got married in the fall and is now pregnant...you go girl! Rebecca also worked at Deloitte and now our kids go to the same preschool - she's a hoot too!

show3

And then we have Rachel and Alison. We were also in the same kindergarten class and have known each other for over 30 years - are we seriously that old? Rachel and I were best friends in elementary school and I use to love to go to her house because they always had the Sweet Sixteen powdered donuts, noodles and gravy for Sunday dinner, and she had the most awesome Barbie dream house...with the elevator and everything! She's getting ready to go get her daughter from China and I'm so excited for her. These girls are FUNNY when they get together and provided some great commentary at the shower!

show2

Here's me and my belly.

show1

Again, me and my friend Sherry. I tell everyone this because it's the one and only time I've ever done this and it actually worked...Don and I set Sherry and her husband up on a blind date and look what happened!

show6

show7

The hostess with the mostess...my sister Andrea!

show10

It's Monday and I have a sick boy on my hands. He's had a runny nose for several weeks, but only one or two days had a slight temperature (99.5). But now he has a really bad cough and his temp is up to 100.5. So, we're calling the doctor this morning and hopefully heading that way sometime today. I also had a rough afternoon and evening - just a lot of Braxton Hicks that wouldn't go away. I feel better this morning after a good night's sleep, but if they start up again then I will be taking myself to the doctor today too. So, we'll see how this week goes...let's hope it turns into a pretty uneventful one!
