The Politician

For the past few days my children have been sporadically fed and bathed. I may or may not have showered. Laundry has been piling up. Phone calls have not been returned. Why you ask? Because I've been reading this book...

I tried to buy the book when it first came out but Barnes and Noble was sold out so I had to wait. Well, it was worth the wait. Let me tell you, I felt like I was reading the latest storyline to Young and the Restless. I mean, a politician having an affair is not that big of a surprise, but the lengths this guy went to to cover it up was absolutely unbelievable!

This guy (with his wife who went along with the scheme) was the guy who wrote the book and the one who claimed to be the father of Rielle Hunter's baby. Now, he's a jerk too but after reading the book I can kind of see how he got caught up in the whole cover-up.

I swear, after reading this book I don't trust ANY politician. Seriously, I feel like it's one big power trip for all of them. I think that a lot of them start out with good intentions and really want to make a difference in the world, but then they get caught up in the whole power and money thing. In addition to that, once they get to a certain level of power the people working for them are afraid to tell them no or that they're wrong. And, a politician is always thinking about getting reelected which influences almost every decision they make. UGH...I'm so over politics! (well, until it gets close to mid-term elections in November and I can't help but get caught up in it again)

Anyway, if you're looking for an easy, People magazine-like read then this is the book for you!

P.S. Obviously I've been infatuated with this story for quite some time. Check out THIS post I did back in 2008.

100 days of school

Can you believe this 100 year old man had to go to kindergarten this morning?

Oh goodness, his back hurts so much! How will he ever play on the playground today?

Better sit down and rest his hip. By the way, did the teacher say he should look like a 100 year old man or an Amish man?

Either way, he's still pretty cute today!

Sniff, Sniff (not really)

You know what the below picture is?

That, my friends, is all my kids packed in the car. One going to kindergarten and the other two going to their first day of PDO (Parent's Day Out)! That's right, every Thursday I will have 5 hours (5 HOURS...count them) to be by myself, run errands, do nothing, meet friends for lunch, not change dirty diapers, etc. I know some may take offense to my excitement and some may question my lack of crying as I walked out the door yesterday morning, but you know what, I'm okay with that. My sweet friend, Kristi, just did a post last week about sending her 2 year old daughter to PDO for several days a week (I would link you to her blog but it's private). Poor thing, she must love her daughter more than I love my kids because she had a much different reaction than me.

Seriously, having this one day will be so nice and I'm thankful my husband agreed. Like I mentioned the other day, I don't get out much so this will be my opportunity to get some stuff done without doing it after 8:00 at night. So, what did I do on my first free day you ask? Well, I drove to the car dealership to get my oil changed but the wait was too long so off I went. I then stopped by the mall, TJ Maxx (bought a purse but don't tell Don), Goodwill, a consignment shop, Duke's Sandwich Shop, Barnes and Nobles (completely sold out of the book about John Edwards) and then ended my day with a run through the Chick-fil-a drive thru to get a coffee. Starting next week I will actually try to use my time a little more wisely.

Oh, and let me tell you who's taking care of my babies. Well, it's at our church and they are in a room with only one other baby AND they have two sweet ladies tending to their every need. I walked out of there yesterday feeling so relaxed with no anxiety whatsoever. Wait, did I say walked out of there? I meant RAN!

Speaking of my sweet babies, thought I would throw in a few pictures I took yesterday afternoon. I personally don't think they look offended about me leaving them. Well, maybe Lane does a little.
Smiley Abe!Lane with her favorite (and cheapest) toy...the Tylenol bottle! Please note the thing dangling from Abe's mouth. That would be this little horse that was attached to a play mat I bought from a consignment store. Yes, I know that's nasty because some other child probably had it dangling from their mouth before Abe, but he loves it! He will scoot around the floor playing with all his toys and he'll be just a sucking away on that nasty thing.
Oh, and a shout out to my niece, Lily, who turns 10 today!!! I can remember getting the call from Andrea in the early morning telling me they were on their way to the hospital. So, I rushed over there and was able to be in the room when she was born...with a head full of dark hair! Happy Birthday Lily Pearl!

Groundhog Day, Walmart, etc.

This "holiday" was made for me. Seriously, I have said on many occasions lately that every day is like Groundhog Day for me. Maybe other moms aren't like this, but I feel like I do the same darn thing at almost the exact same time every day. Honestly, with twins I really do have to stick to a pretty tight schedule...works better for the babies and for me. I know this stage will pass and I'll have more flexibility but right now I'm pretty much a slave to this house. Oh, and are we really going to have 6 more weeks of winter???

With that said, the only time I can really do my grocery shopping is at night after the kids are down. So tonight I went to Walmart and guess who works there?
That's right folks...Johnny Weir (US ice skater) must be hurting for cash because I swear I saw him/her working at the Walmart on Wade Hampton Boulevard in Taylors, SC.

Facebook. Yes, I'm on Facebook and that's probably why I've neglected my blog. Facebook is mindless and doesn't require as much brainpower as trying to put together a blog post with pictures and witty thoughts. Not an excuse, just the truth. Anyway, I have been laughing so hard at what everyone is calling "Doppelgänger Week." Are you kidding me? Did you REALLY just put a picture of Pamela Anderson on your profile and say people have told you you look like her???

Max has been sick the past few days so I've been letting him sleep in our bed. Well, last night as I was watching TV downstairs I heard a loud thump. I ran upstairs and found Max on the floor. He had fallen off the bed and was still asleep with his thumb in his mouth. I had to pick him up and put him back in bed. How do you do that and not wake up??

So tonight while I'm at Walmart Don heard another noise come from upstairs. He goes up there and Max is standing beside the bed and told Don he threw up. Don asked him if he had been coughing and was that why he threw up. Max said no....he said he stuck his fingers down his throat and that made him throw up. Why would he do that?

And lastly, is it wrong that I want to buy the book "The Politician"? This whole John Edwards thing is truly unbelievable. I watched this Andrew Young guy on 20/20 the other night and I can't decide how I feel about him. Anyway, still trying to determine if I want to give him some of my money or not.

Ok, enough random thoughts by me...off to bed I go.
