The newest Milius is finally here!

We would like to welcome the newest member of our family, Jaxson William Milius!

Mommy decided to try being induced for the first time with the concern her little boy inside was a little on the bigger end of the scale. The first process was to get mommy's cervix ripened with the use of a little pill, which started Sunday morning @ 10 am. After about 5 1/2 hours of letting such a tiny pill do its job, I was contracting and had gone from nothing to 3 cm - but the baby was still high. So pitocin was started and we were committed. I slowly progressed and the epidural worked great, but still at 9 cm the baby's head was still high. Still there was the hesitation to break my water for fear of a cord prolapse. The hours would have definitely been less if this had not been a concern from the start, but I guess our little one was just too comfortable yet to come out. With the making of a tiny whole in the water sack, the fluid slowly came out and the head slowly came down. Then I was ready to push, and I got nervous for fear of his size and him not fitting. Despite not feeling pretty much anything, I successfully pushed our new son out in about 10 minutes. At 1:40 am on January 19, 2009, our big boy arrived. Mommy's intuition was right and my reasoning for being induced was justified! At twelve days early, Jaxson William, weighed in @ 8 lbs. 15 oz. He is so cute and we are thrilled to finally have him here. He especially has three older brothers who are ecstatic to have him out of mommy's tummy! Thank you to all of our family and friends that were present, and also a far, for their support as we waited and anticipated the arrival of our precious son!
