Well, it came.. Andrew's 2nd birthday! I cannot believe I have a 2 year old! I love that I was able to be home with him for his actual birthday even though we didn't really do anything super special. I did get him french fries, which he loves. lol His birthday party, a couple days before his actual birthday, was a BLAST. Seriously, I couldn't have asked for a better time. It was hot and humid but the kids all kept cool in the kiddie pool and homemade water slide. I was even able to forget how hot and exhausted I was! I'll post his birthday pics in a new post hopefully sometime this week. This post will have his LAST monthly update (bitter sweet) and his 2 year photos. :)
At 2 years, Andrew...
• weighs about 32 lbs 13 oz (96th %) and is 36.5 inches tall (94th %)
• wears 2T shorts and
2T/3T shirts
• wears size 5 diaper during the day; size 6 at night
• wears
size 6.5 shoe
• kicks his shoes off MULTIPLE times a day (in his booster seat, stroller, and carseat) then screams for me to put them back on
• asks me to "fix" his shoes when he gets dirt, rocks, or wood chips in there (MANY times a day!)
• no longer eats in his highchair (we put it away) but rather in a booster at the table. However, he rarely even likes to eat there, so we have been letting him have his food at his little picnic table in front of the TV. Yep, probably a bad habit to start but I want the kid to eat!
• is still super picky with food and eats the same things constantly (a little better when he eats in front of the TV or on the go)
•meals are pretty much the same: yogurt, mac & cheese, pizza, and pierogies. He's recently become obsessed with toast with cream cheese (again) and eats that every morning. Also likes ham and cheese rolled up. Eats a full banana a day, lots of other fruit, and carrots with dip. Loves "pops" and hummus.
•nap is the same - down around 12 (although he asks for "ny-nee" (night-night) earlier and up between 3-4
•bedtime is slightly later - down around 7:30 and up around 6:30 weekdays/weekends
•still loves his "ba-ba" but only gets it for naps and bedtime. Trying to decide if we can go through with taking it away. If yes, d-day will be after vacation in mid-August.
•still has 16 teeth but really think he is teething now.. drooling and nasty diapers.
• has been making HUGE strides with his speech. He says SO many words now and will repeat any word you ask him to say.
• is doing better actually USING his words to tell what he wants rather than just pointing and whining
• often changes words that end in "er" to "ee". Example - wa-wee = water; mo-mo-ee = mower :)
• says "YUCK!" when I'm changing his diaper
• says "poop" when he sees someone sitting on a potty or when he sits on his own potty (fully clothed)
• says NO wayyyyy too much, even when he actually wants something. I'll repeat what he asked me for and he'll respond with NO. Very challenging!
•throws many tantrums, small and big, throughout the day. They are very random and there's never any hint that one is about to come.
• will hit/kick when he is mad (terrible 2's?!?!)
• can be so, so sweet despite his emotional rollercoasters. Loves to cuddle, give hugs and kisses.
• has an amazing memory and will say/remind you of something that happened once very briefly days ago. Smarty pants.
•is obsessed with trucks, cars, trains, and now planes and helicopters
•will only use a straw cup for water now. Still same old cup for milk.
• still quite the Mama's boy especially now that I'm home with him for summer. Will call out "Mommy! Mommy!" all day and cry when I walk out of the room.
• loves to play "boom" where I take all the stuffed animals and blankets out of his crib then drop them on him one by one while saying "boom"
• has started skipping/galloping
• has learned more shapes thanks to a shape sorter. He knows triangle, oval, square, star, cross, "wedge", trapezoid, and hexagon, pentagon.
• recently learned four colors - blue, red, green, and yellow
• starting to learn some letters but isn't consistent with them at all
• loves water - playing in it and swimming
• LOVES looking at his reflection in the TV, oven, fridge, windows, sliding glass door... he'll often "mow" the patio while watching himself in the sliding glass door
• loves going to the park, going down slides, and has started loving the swing (see-wing) again!
•can be VERY shy when we are around a crowd of people or anyone he is unsure of. Other times he is a social butterfly.
•still loves sticks and rocks.
• is still very demanding but has learned to say "please" when we say, "what to do you say?" We are working on "thanks" as well.
