2017 Calendar - Cover plus January to March

For the past several years I've made my Mom a calendar that includes family photos.  I would buy a BASIC GREY calendar kit, put it together and add the photos where they belonged.  Easy peasy... Well BASIC GREY is no longer making or selling paper products so I bought a blank 8x8 calendar made by SRM Press Inc. and started from scratch.

We had a family wedding this year, so lots of nice family photos from that event.

Here is the first 3 months.  Please excuse the quality of the photos. They were taken on a dull dreary day so they aren't the best.

USE YOUR STUFF Challenge #243 - Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching (only a couple of weeks left) and Beth has come up with a Christmas challenge. So I made an ornament.

White Wooden base: Celebrate It (Michaels) - It was already painted white and distressed.
Bird Stamp: Close to My Heart
Washi Tape: Cavillini & Co.
Holly Stamp: Impression Obsession (stamped on patterned paper and then fussy-cut)
Red Marker (to colour berries): Tim Holtz distress crayon
Sentiment Stamp: Stampin Up
Ink: Stampin Up and Close to My Heart
Twine: American Crafts

Note: the back of the ornament looks like a chalkboard so I used white ink for the year.

Man with Two Hats - 2016

Done at Crop and Create.

This is the statue that is situated in my home town of Ottawa, Canada.

In the City of Apeldoorn (the Netherlands), The Man With Two Hats monument symbolizes many dualities. The two hats in and of themselves represent a time when to come through the war with one hat was something of a feat. It represents the end of the horrors of war but in the same vein the peace and freedom that continue to elude many countries today. It symbolizes the two countries of Canada and the Netherlands. The outstretched arms symbolize the liberation of the Netherlands and also the reaching out of country to country, people to people. The visage, one of sadness and deep meditation and also one of serenity and peace. With the donation of this monument, the Netherlands pays a lasting tribute to Canada. A statue identical to this one stands in Ottawa, Ontario. The twin monuments symbolically link Canada and the Netherlands, forever close friends.

I've been away.....

I haven't been posting lately because I've been away dealing with family matters.  Some good and some not so good but getting better...

During this time I did go to a three day scrapbooking weekend put on by the Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine called Crop and Create.  I think this is my 4th year?  As always, it was tons of fun and I got quite a few layouts done.  Stay tuned.....I will be posting them in the next day or two.
