DSC00429

That’s basically our lives these days. This past semester Max has been busy juggling an internship at The GrowHaus, a job at REC Solar, and school. He just finished up the semester though so we have a bit more time to hang out together! Soon he will be done with both the job and internship, and will then be the new Communications Specialist for the Center for Advanced Visualization and Experiential Analysis at his schoolExciting stuff!

I’ve been busy with my new job as a teaching assistant at Monarch Montessori of Denver! Of course the kids are adorable, funny, and say the sweetest things… but oh my gosh they are exhausting. This brings me to the next section of the blog that I’d like to call…

WHY?!

  • Why on earth do parents send their 2nd graders to school with coffee? I mean honestly… these kids have enough energy.
  • Why is it these children still can’t spell “Jessica”, but know how to spell every swear word perfectly? And how on earth do they manage to write them everywhere…
  • Why, dear sweet child, did you think you’d be able to sneak a beach ball into class? Did you honestly think I wouldn’t see it behind your back?
  • Why are you holding a raw egg? I don’t understand.
  • Why am I having to confiscate cell phones from these kids. Is it normal for 7 year olds to have cell phones? I thought this was a high school thing…
  • Why would you throw someone else’s food away? Did it ever cross your mind that she’d realize all the food was missing from her tray?
  • And finally… why on earth is there a tampon in your locker? You are a 1st grade boy… pretty sure you don’t need that.

Our New Home

Welcome to our new home in Denver! I’d say it’s definitely a step up from our 350 square foot studio in TVA…

Adventures

We’re trying to go on as many adventures as we can before we leave Hawaii (we are down to just 17 days)! This last weekend we went stand up paddle boarding (SUP) in Haleiwa. So. Much. Fun. We rode around on small waves and paddled down a river. There were lots… and I mean at least 20… huge turtles swimming around. If we sat on our boards and just floated by we could get within a few inches of them!

DSC00388 DSC00394Our next adventure wasn’t all that adventurous. We went to Jameson’s! This is our restaurant that we always save for special occasions. They have the most delicious food (I always get the stuffed crab shrimp and Max get’s the grilled ahi steak), perfect sunset/ocean view, and it’s just one of those places you feel so happy and cozy at that you never want to leave. Afterwards we went for a walk on the beach and just had fun waiting for the sun to set.

29 Days.

29 days. That’s all we have left in Hawaii. It’s bittersweet really. I mean sure we will miss the beach, our friends, and living in possibly the most beautiful place in the world, but we are extremely excited to begin the next step of our journey together. We are excited to see our family and friends, for me to be done with college (for now), to get a puppy, and to be able to go grocery shopping in a place where milk doesn’t cost $7 a gallon.

Basically our goals for the past month or so were to find a car for me, an apartment, and jobs. We’ll we’ve accomplished 2/3! Today we got accepted at an apartment complex in Cherry Creek called the Atrii. 2 bedrooms, brand new kitchen appliances, newly remodeled, wood floors, and granite counter tops. I’d say it’s somewhat of a step up from our gross little studio.

We are so stoked.

We also found a great deal on a 2007 jeep liberty! It’s basically the greatest car ever and perfect for Colorado. I think Max is a little jealous.

IMG_7739

So now that we found lots of things to spend all our money on, we need to find jobs to be able to afford them. I’ve pretty much given up on applying online… trust me, it doesn’t work. So the plan is for me to walk into Anthropologie the first week back and apply for a job. I figure Max got a year of working at a fun place, now it’s my turn. Plus, employee’s get 40% off… how could you pass up an opportunity like that?! Maybe someday I will go to grad school and get a real job, but for now I dream of earning $10.00 and hour selling clothes to rich people. I realize that sounds like a joke, but I’m dead serious. Hey… I’m only 21 people, give me a break.
