the beach

A few weekends ago our friends graciously invited our little trio to the beach for the weekend.

It rained.
It rained... and rained... and rained some more.

And we didn't mind at all.

The beach is beautiful even in the rain, and good company is hard to beat.
My season of life involves lots of pacis and puffs, and what a delight to have a change of scenery.

Not to mention where ever these two bedheads are is where I want to be.

After a lazy, lazy day, the rain decided to take a break long enough for us to enjoy a wonderful dinner on the patio and a sunset boat ride.

Libby ready for her first boat ride!

A beautiful sunset to end a great day.

The next morning it rained some more.

When it took another little break we braved the double red flags

because I REALLY wanted to do this

dying to get those little toes in the sand!

and thank you lord she loved it!

thirty

The cake says it all.
I am thirty.
I'm thrilled about it.
SERIOUSLY, I really am!

Thirty is one of those ages I always wondered what life would be like.
I sure did think by 30 you have it all figured out.
I am thankful to learn by 30 that you never have it all figured out.

My birthday was full of my favorite things.
John and Libby gave me a porch and porch furniture for Mother's day and my birthday.

I started my day with one of my very favorite coffee dates, in my favorite new spot.

We had lunch with friends.
Lots of fun phone calls and texts.
Mama J and Grande came to love on Libby so I could have a birthday date with John.

The day was perfect.
Cheers to you 30!

happy summer!

mom

Mom.
What joy, responsibility, and privilege in such a tiny little word.

My first Mother's Day. I am beyond honored to be a mom. Libby's mom.

I am blessed by generation after generation of Moms who love with their whole hearts, allowing me to have amazing examples of what it really means to be a mom.

My first moments as a mom

A tiny glimpse of the ways I have always been loved and adored as you love Libby

Thank you for being my confidant, cheerleader, and friend

Thankful to not only have THE BEST mom in the whole world, but also a wonderful mother in law. Who loves me like I am her own, and lovingly raised the incredible man I am proud to call my husband and father of my child.

Thank you for being amazing moms....and grandmothers. I am constantly blessed by your love

asheville

We took a little road trip!

One of John's very favorite cities is Asheville, North Carolina. Needless to say, he was beyond thrilled when his beautiful cousin Sarah decided she would marry her handsome groom, Eric in Asheville!

Since John's last few visits have been "guys weekends", Libby nor I had ever been to Asheville. We were super excited to make the trip AND have such an awesome (and cute!) tour guide.

Our first night we met John's family and went to Barley's taproom. Super high on John's list of faves. Beer, pizza, guy stuff. Loved finally getting to see what it was all about...but sadly, no pictures!

The next morning our little family went to brunch at a little place called Sunny Pointe Cafe. It had a fun vibe and everything was delicious!

Libby and I had a great time hanging out and talking to John

until THIS showed up...

and it was time for Libby to sit in her first ever restaurant highchair!

Loving a good morning squeeze from Dad

We had a great day playing and shopping in Asheville... and a big nap for everyone before joining family to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at an awesome Mexican spot!

MacMama and Libby singing a Spanish tune (or just being cute)

That evening was the main event! Sarah and Eric got married in Park within walking distance of our hotel. Perfection. AND super ideal when you have stroller in tow.

Our attempt at a little family photo

Everything about the wedding and reception was perfect! The evening was beautiful, and no detail was overlooked. We loved getting to celebrate and catch up with family. Everyone had a fabulous time. Especially Libby, that girl loves a party! She was still on the dance floor with John at 11:00!!

John and I decided to make it a long weekend and stay until Monday which meant more fun in Asheville AND more yummy food! We ate at Wasabi and it was insanely awesome. Seriously. best. ever. I think I even had to go back to the hotel afterwards to recover from my food coma.

Asheville is beautiful, with lots of fun things to do and see. We loved it so much we decided to buy a vacation house so we could have many more weekends there in our future.

Check out our little cottage in the background.

Okay, maybe it's the Biltmore, either way we had a great time touring the incredible house and beautiful grounds.

Thanks Asheville for a wonderful weekend!
