High five to that guy!

Who has two thumbs and is better than awesome!?!....
THIS guy!

He works hard. He works a lot. He works at odd times. He misses a lot of sleep. He misses a lot of fun times with fun people.

He never complains. He always has a wonderful attitude. He is thankful for the opportunities the Lord has set before him. He is one of the few people I know who honestly 100% loves his job.

Today he received an "Ata boy" that meant the world to both of us...in His perfect timing.

John I am so incredibly proud of you, and am honored to be your wife.
Thank you for making life look so easy.

The Mo Show

Sunday before John and I left for Colorado we went to Birmingham and anxiously waited for this....

Which meant I finally got to do this!

Mo made his big debut in Birmingham!! ALL of his adoring fans were thrilled to meet him! I loved meeting and loving on that perfect little guy....more commonly known as "the most beautiful, handsome, strongest, smartest, sweetest, bestest baby in the whole wide world" (according to his very smitten grandmother)

I love you Mo and can not wait to see you again! (Of course, we love your wonderful mom, dad and Bird too!)

Breckenridge and Vail!

John and I were thrilled to have the opportunity to travel with a few of our favorite friends to Breckenridge, Colorado! The trip started as a casual idea, almost a joke..but I am so thankful we have friends that make it happen! Weeks prior to the trip I kept asking John if he really thought I would like to ski....I am terrified of heights, hate to be cold, can't stand being out of control and panic when things are fast.....much to both of our surprise I had a blast!

Day one on the slopes was....hmm...I'll go with laughable (this is an understatement for sure!). Claire and Craig are excellent skiers, John is a fearless natural, Annie is so stubborn she willed herself in to skiing down the slopes with ease...and I think it is pretty fair to say John Ingram and I "struggled". We both knew we should start out with Ski School, but being the first real day of vacation we hated to be away from our group. I was scared to death to even get on the lift..luckily I made it on...but my exit was not nearly as graceful! I fell off the lift and pretty much down the entire mountain! My husband is very patient with me..he tried to explain to me that it is simply physics....the group knows how I feel about physics...and for some reason my darling husband didn't understand why thinking about "physics" and the "laws of momentum and gravity" didn't help skiing click for me! Bless his heart. After one "run" down the slopes John Ingram and I decided to call it quits for the day and decided to enjoy the lodge and a nice gondola ride.

Quite possibly the best part of the day was dinner at Kenosha! We were all exhausted and feeling the altitude so it hit the spot! The town of Breckenridge is wonderful. Cute shops, sweet people and yummy food!

Day two I was a little less terrified of the gondola...the first battle!

AND John Ingram and I decided to go to Ski School. We were late to class so we didn't really start out on the best ski (ha). We introduced ourselves and told the group that our spouses were having a blast together on the slopes...and well,...we sadly needed to come to school. Class was...um, comical to say the very least. Probably my very favorite memory from the entire trip was when our "class" was waiting for our first instruction after riding to the top of the mountain (note: John I. and I BOTH successfully got of the lift!) Trying to be a good student, all of my energy was focused on trying to stay standing....I was so proud that I was even able to stand in line with the other girls in our class, when I realized John wasn't near by. I turned around just in time to see him fly down the mountain beside us in to a blue mesh fence. He fell to the ground with the "fence" wrapped around him...hysterical! The teacher just watched him as he tried to get back up. When John recovered and was in line with the group the teacher said "do you know how many times I have seen that happen......zero"

I enjoyed ski school so much that morning that I decided it would be best for me to go back for the afternoon session. We had the most patient (or high) ski instructor. When teaching us how to turn from side to side he simply said just think about which way you want to go...and to learn techniques he described passing out glasses of champagne...made so much more sense to me than physics!!
The MOST important skill I learned was the wedge...sadly, this is the way I ski. I am too scared to pick up any speed so I was thrilled to learn how to move back and forth across the mountain very slowly!

Day 3 We go to Vail to ski for the day! Kevin's teachings absolutely were applied! Still no offers to join the Olympic team just yet but I honestly had so much fun!

John and I outside of the lodge in Vail

At the TOP of the mountain! If you can't tell from the picture I was THRILLED to have made it!
I was still a little concerned if I would be able to get back down!

I luckily made it down in one piece and loved the latte that was waiting for me in downtown Vail!

What a wonderful trip! Can not wait to go back again soon! Thanks for all of the fun memories!

Way to go RACH!!

On Sunday, February 15th I had the honor of cheering on my sister Rachael as she COMPLETED the Mercedes Half Marathon in Birmingham!

I am a little partial, but I am pretty sure Rachael had the best cheering section there! Leslie, John and Abby McElheny helped to make the day even more fun and memorable! We loved cheering for Rachael and greeting her after she crossed the finish line! After the race we all celebrated over a delicious brunch of Eggs Florentine and Mimosas at Chez LuLu!

Way to go Rachael!! I am SO proud of you!

Barley

Exactly two years ago today I fell in love.....on a seemingly innocent visit to the humane society with friends I met this guy "Timone"(now Barley), clueless to how he could and would change my life. Until him I swore I would never have a dog....If I did have a dog he would never live inside...and if he ever lived inside he would NEVER EVER get near my bed......well friends, never say never.

March 3, 2007

"A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. Status symbol means nothing to him. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are inside. A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his. It was really quite simple, and yet we humans, so much wiser and more sophisticated, have always had trouble figuring out what really counts and what does not. As I wrote that farewell column, I realized it was all right there in front of us, if only we opened our eyes. Sometimes it took a dog with bad breath, worse manners, and pure intentions to help us see."

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have never really been the biggest fan of Valentine's day for some reason. I guess my "Valentine" does not need to be prompted by a commercialized holiday to make it a special day, so it all feels kind of forced and cheesy ...but this year we had an excellent Valentine's Day! John and I had the pleasure of sharing the evening with some of our favorite people! Conveniently, The Masker's Ball was Saturday night, so we had the perfect excuse to get dressed up and dance the night away! Here are a few pictures from the night!
