Spinning the Globe

We headed over to Topeka this evening to see the Harlem Globetrotters. This is Globie, the Mascot.
Warm up time!! They make it look so easy.
#52, The Big Easy, caught with his pants down.
We had such a good time and both boys really enjoyed it. I don't think it was what they were expecting, but we were all cracking up the entire night.

Back to the drawing board

Never fails. If it isn't my first name getting butchered, then it is our last name. Both Grant's and Mitch's baseball jerseys came in this way. And yes, we are having them re-done......all 4 of them!

Days like these equal...........

Due to the weather, we didn't head to Newton for Grant's last basketball tournament. Instead, we made:
Stew in the crockpot. My husband labeled it with a sticky note called "Hodgepodge." I won't tell you what the sticky note said that I later put in HIS chair! Hee, hee.
Used our new Cocoa machine to make hot chocolate.
Took a couple of cat naps and did NOT make any beds today.
And, of course, made some chocolate chip cookies.

A STRESSFULL day of driving

A bit of a dust storm on my way home from Great Bend today.
I saw a few too many of these today. Needlessly to say, I was a little skittish about passing these bad boys today. The wind was absolutely crazy today!! And, just to let you know, (Mom) I was only driving about 10mph when these photos were taken.

A new way to blog

My friend, while blogstalking, came across this one. I guess it's a good reminder not to make anybody really mad at you.

A little 3 on 3

We traveled to Randolph on Saturday where Grant played in a 3 on 3 tournament. They won 3 out of the 4 games. Just one more weekend of basketball!

The Cats pulled it off.

Coach Martin getting some words of advice from his daughter before the game.

Going to O.T. The fans that had started to leave...............started to come back in.
Some very important free throws for Ron. This is one of those moments when Scott leans over to Grant and says, "This is when you show people what you are made of."

Left, Right, Left..............SIT DOWN!!

This young man finally fouled out after scoring 20 plus points! I do love when the opposing team player does a little dance to throw the college kids chant off. He ran in place quickly for several seconds. However, was very glad to see him sit.

A little out of my league..........

I had my first experience at Hollister about a month ago. Not because I wanted to, but because Grant was in need of a dress shirt, and that was where he wanted it from. It didn't take me long to figure out that, a)you need to be about a size 4 or below to shop here, b)I am not in the right age group to shop here, and c)I hope you don't want any help and that you don't need to hear or talk to the cashier. I left there asking myself what just happened here? I love to shop, I always have, but that store stresses me out.
I should have known it wasn't going to be easy when I could hear the music blaring two stores away. Then, did they not pay their electric bill, or do they just not want you to see the price tags? So, I bombed on the dress shirts, which meant, oh crap.........I have to go back. Which I did on Friday, to exchange for a couple of T-shirts to give him for his Birthday. Would you believe I bombed out again. This time, I made the eleven year old go with me. First thing he says, "What don't you like about this store? I think it's great"

And to top it all off, I am now officially aging. He wanted some stuff to make him smell good. What???? Who needs to be smelling my little boy!

Low Key Birthday Parties.....just the way I like them!

We started Grant's birthday festivities at the Kansas State Baseball game on Friday afternoon.
Followed by a little backyard Basketball, bike riding and hide and seek in the pitch black.
And nothing easier than cupcakes!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANT!

Our Little G-Man turns 11 today. He came into this world, born 3 weeks early on a Friday the 13th. His due date was April Fools Day, but I guess he had other plans. Our little Southpaw was breach for most of the pregnancy, so we didn't know what we were having, as no body parts could be seen. I was scheduled to go in and have him turned that day, and while driving around, running errands, complaining to my mother about back pain, she urged me to get to the doctor. Reluctant, I went ahead and went in early. I guess mothers still do know best. I was in labor, contractions about 5 minutes apart, breach baby, and a husband over an hour away! It's amazing how clearly I remember all of this, after 11 years, but can't remember where I have left my car keys. He has truly been a blessing and an amazing kid to watch grow. While he challenges us everyday, he still makes his Mom and Dad proud. Happy Birthday Grant, We love you!

Food for thought

Or not. How about pencils. We had parent teacher conferences tonight and this is what Mitch seems to be doing to his pencils during class. Not sure how to stop a chewing habit. Grant used to chew holes in clothes, but I don't recall his pencils looking like this!

MAYB Champs

I missed the last game, so didn't have any photos of the boys with their trophies. Luckily, other moms were prepared.

Mitch's season ending party

Mitch could hardly hold back the excitement to show dad his trophy when he got home from his party. (Dad had to miss.....still in Wichita with Grant.)
The Mavericks '09 Basketball team in full uniform.

On the road again.

We headed to Wichita for the weekend to watch Grant play in a tournament. They ended up winning all 4 games and walked away with first place. Mitch and I came home before the last game so that we could make it to his season ending party. Sounds like it was a nailbiter, probably a good thing I missed it.

Batter up

The whole family headed out the the Kansas State baseball game on Friday evening. It was a double header, and a great evening for baseball.
Bring on the Cats.
Mitch, waiting and hoping to get a high five from the Asst. Coach, Craig.

Lemonade anyone?

The boys and I stopped by a friends lemonade stand this afternoon in the great 80 degree weather. The girls had come up with a great idea to donate all the proceeds to buy teddy bears for children at Mercy Regional Hospital. How could we say no to this sweet little face!
At first, Grant and Mitch weren't too excited about going. After we left, they were glad we had stopped by. I think secretly they both enjoyed it!
