Priceless moments...

Caroline gave her very first "real" smiles to her Daddy today when he got home from work :)

Trey wanted to hold Caroline and loved getting to hold her...SOOOOOOOOOOO sweet.

Rare talent...

She peels hard-boiled eggs perfectly!! Who would have thought a 3-yr old could do such a thing??

Our Garage Door and our brother Gao...

Today started out normal, but ended abruptly when I backed the car into the garage door while it was still lifting (always in a rush, I thought it had lifted enough for me to clear it). Libby fixed it, but then it ended up still being broken, so we had a professional come out and now we're "good to go" after nap time.

But there's something that's burdened my heart. This Christian attorney in China has been detained (and presumably tortured) for 76 days by the government and his family has no idea where he is...his son, little Gao, is especially distraught. Isn't his son so precious? Here's more info and how you can help him...

This picture is for Anna Kate....

I tell her to think "MARKETING" when she sees it.

Warning...

The bad guys talk about how much they LOVE to EAT CHILDREN the whole time. It even scared ME a little bit! (but trust me, our neighborhood crime report still scares me more...so I don't read it...and I don't watch this anymore either...I digress)

HAPPY EASTER!!!

We're so thankful for Jesus...these words from our church service are very beautiful to me:

He is the First Born Son with real righteousness of His own, who pleases the Father with His life. But He travelled to the far country in His incarnation to reclaim the fool-hearted and rebellious. Because He brought life out of the grave, He raises to life those who were dead in sin. He brings us back to the Father already washed and clothed in the exquisite robe of His righteousness.

EASTER DAY...

Caroline's 1st Easter :)

Family pics after the church service...Jon's the only one who's Easter outfit didn't come from Walmart or Target.

Visiting Aunt Sigrid and Grandpa Mureen...Caroline's 1st time to meet them!

EASTER EVE CELEBRATION...

Brian and Sarah had a few families over for dinner and an Easter egg hunt with all our kids...SO FUN...

The kids table at dinner...

Waiting for the daddies to hide the eggs...

This wasn't her original Easter basket that Mammaw bought her, but that one broke and J.R.'s "went-peared."

This picture cracks me up...from Zac's egg carton to all the intensity.

J.R. cared a lot more about the cars than the eggs...this car just happened to have some eggs "hidden" in it.

The Easter parade...

Car bliss...

Star bliss.

My annual easter Southern Living Carrot Cake's icing had some issues this year due to my mathematical error...but it tasted ok :) My favorite ever cake story is here courtesy of Sarah.

GOOD FRIDAY...

Totally pooped me out...I got all the kids dressed up perfectly to go to the park to take Easter pictures of them in their outfits at the MOPS Easter egg hunt, but the park was like 40 degrees, and I didn't get ONE PICTURE of the kids together in their outfits, and we got there so late we missed the egg hunt...I always think how I can get good pictures and save the money of a professional photographer, but it's always a lost cause before we even start.
And there were all these other things that made the day really stressful like having a rental car because our regular car's locks broke, then picking up our regular car and the bill was $1100 to get the locks fixed. And there were lots of other things too...like seeing lots of dads at the park with their families and not understanding why Jon couldn't take the day off too...but he said those were probably the dads that had been laid off. At the end of the day Jon wanted to watch The Passion of Christ movie to reflect on the day's events 2000 years ago, but honestly, I couldn't think of anything that sounded more horrible to do, so he watched it and I don't remember what I did instead.

At the cold park...

on the playground...

a sweet little girl gave Anna Kate some of her eggs as a "consolation prize" for having an empty basket from getting there late.

A funny joke...

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah". The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?" The little girl replied, "Then you ask him."

More Caroline...

Sisters sleeping together...Anna Kate has "dropped" her much-needed afternoon nap (unless Caroline and I go to sleep w/ her)...

Caroline went with me to a neighborhood home tour and got to wear this sweet dress that I picked up at a garage sale for a $1 after Anna Kate was a year old in hopes that I'd have another daughter someday who could wear it...

She's so sweet...

Just a yawn...she never cries...

But her brother and sister do :) I've learned that tears are ALWAYS related not getting a good nap...

My post-partem "secret" revealed...

Ok, so pregnant my estrogen hormones are through the roof, then I deliver the baby and they drop to nothing and pretty much stay that way while nursing, which makes me shaky emotionally (not to mention in addition to the sleep-deprivation) but I have been drinking this stuff (I love it...but only in the chocolate flavor) and soy naturally contains estrogen and I think it's helped me feel much better than after I had my first 2 kids...

Adjusting to 3...

Maybe it's b/c Anna Kate cried unless she was being held the first year of her life or maybe it's because J.R. did huge spit-ups every time after he ate b/c of acid reflux and would NEVER take a bottle (= no babysitters, just me), but Caroline just seems like such an easy baby.

Today we went to Anna Kate's ballet class then to the grocery store with all 3 kids successfully...if I had a dollar for every time people commented, "You've got your hands full," or "You're busy," I'd be a rich woman. Every once in a while someone will say, "Oh children are a precious blessing" but usually people are more of the "Birth control is a blessing-take advantage of it" variety. I have always wanted a big family for some reason, but even so, being comfortable around children (especially the idea of being around them 24/7 when I had my own someday) didn't come naturally for me, but with each child I have, I just appreciate children more and more and all the joy they bring into my life...and each day I feel like I love each of my children even more than I did yesterday...

But I am really busy actually...I go from...

  • changing Caroline's diaper

  • to changing J.R.'s diaper

  • to nursing Caroline

  • to feeding Anna Kate and J.R. who are always hungry

  • to getting every one down for naps and keeping them down for naps and praying they all sleep at the same time for as long as possible so I can sleep too

  • to the usual messes and misshaps (see previous post...there are many more where this came from)

  • to it taking *FOREVER* to get every one out of the house with the things every one needs and every one clothed and bathed (baths are a step we might have skipped actually...except for J.R. who gets bathed or showered at least once daily because he gets SOOOO DIRTY)

  • ...not to mention everything it takes to run our household like bills, laundry, pets, errands, laundry, meals etc...there's really no time to do anything else...

All this on very little sporatic sleep...The hardest thing is coping with night-time chirping/grunting from Caroline (newborns are pretty noisy sleepers). Jon and I are pretty tired...but it's only for.....zzzzzzzzzz
