Maybe next year

I had "great expectations" to have an exciting morning making Halloween cookies. It did not go as well as planned much to my dismay. :( I'm sure Junior will be a great little helper NEXT year! This year was a different story.

Preparation was before his nap:

Stirring up the dough

Sneaking a taste!

Time to use the cut-outs

Now that the cookies are baked, frosted and Junior had his nap...it's time to sprinkle

The finished product. Believe it or not, but below you will see a pumpkin, a ghost, a house, a bat and a cat. Pretty pathetic looking! :(

Sheriff Junior at the Pumpkin Patch

We took Junior to the pumpkin patch last weekend after Daddy got home from his business trip to Virginia. We actually managed to get a few pictures with his hat on which at the beginning seemed like an endless battle.

Thanks to Mommy's Aunt for giving us Junior's costume this year!

Yeah, for the hayride!

Mommy and Junior on a little train pulled by a tractor that gives adults bumps and bruises and little ones a scare! (We will not be riding that again anytime soon!)

A reenactment of the same type of slide that Junior and Daddy went down at "FDATP" for my work that I failed to get pictures of...(get a load of Daddy's face! PRICELESS!!!)

And last but not least...Sheriff Junior protecting the town!

4th Anniversary!!!

After the big day at the state fair we took Junior to Nana and Great One's house to spend the night while we stayed over night at the Gaylord Texan for our 4th anniversary (which was actually October 11th)! We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to the best room there...besides the Presidential Suite. (I knew we should have told them it was our honeymoon!!!)

Here we took a picture in part of our room right before we headed downstairs for a Murder Mystery Dinner they had at the hotel. The next morning we had a couples massage which was way overdue! I am almost certain I have not had one since Junior came along. It was a fun and relaxing weekend. Thanks to Nana and Great One for watching our little monkey while we took some time to ourselves!

Visit to BIG TEX

Junior made his first trip to the State Fair of Texas last weekend to visit no other, than "Big Tex". We saw a bird show, ate a Fletcher's corny dog, walked around, and of course saw the "Baseball of America Exhibit" for Daddy! Junior is still not quite old enough for any of the rides but he did have his first funnel cake right before we left. That was a HUGE hit!

Another milestone

For many months now, Daddy and I would stand Junior up and coax him to walk towards us. He would stand for a while and then crouch down to the floor and crawl to us. It was not until September 29th (two days before he turned 13 months) that we tried the same thing and this time we were elated to see him take 5 STEPS towards us!!! It was just like when he started crawling...out of the blue! After he received many praises, hugs and kisses from us both, we tried again and he once more dumbfounded us with enough steps to make it half way across the room. Of course he still prefers to crawl everywhere. He definitely would make it a lot further if he would slow down and take his time. He gets so excited that his arms start moving up and down and his body goes too fast for his little legs to keep up. He wants to get to where he is going faster than he actually can!

A few other things Junior is doing these days are:
- imitating Mommy coughing (I was sick last week and Junior thought it was funny to cough after I did)
- flipping light switches on and off
- watering the plants with Daddy as soon as he gets home (that he insisted on doing while I was cooking the other day)

- picking favorites (like this book "That's Not My Truck")...

- pointing to things he wants (Lucky Charms)
- follows simple commands (most like a new puppy) "sit", "lay down"
- leads you to things he wants
- puts his head on the floor and looks underneath things for his toys (or the remote control)
- and a daily favorite except for Sunday's and holidays...open and close the mailbox

Edit to earlier post

I did actually get one picture from "Family Day at the Park" which I had forgotten about until a friend of mine at work emailed it to me. You see, she had her camera, being a good Mommy and all, so she gladly took a picture of Junior and I on the jump house.

Those are badges on his shirt from the carnival. He was honorary junior police and fireman that day! He sure was busy!
