5 more days of freedom, then we're back to the grind of waking up early, soccer practice, homework... ugh. I can't even bare to think of it. This is the only summer in recent history where I wasn't 100% ready for the kids to go back to school. We've had so much fun, and have really enjoyed just relaxing around the house and playing with friends.
LEGO LAND
We took one last trip for the summer to San Diego and hit up Lego Land and the Safari Park. Nobody barfed in the car, so right away it was an amazing trip.

36 YEARS OLD!
I recently celebrated my 36th birthday. I know, I know. I don't look a day over 20, but it's true! I'm closer to 40 than 30. I've made a list in my head of hot celebrities over 35, and I take comfort in knowing that if I had their money and access to amazing skin care, I too could look amazing despite my age.
I was telling Wes recently that the older I get, the more I'd rather have experiences than receive gifts for my birthday. So he sent me and three of my favorite ladies to Ventura for the day to paddle board and roam around the harbor. That place is really like home to me. I've spent so much time there with my family, and even used to drive there alone when I was a teenager just to grab something to eat and sit by the beach.
So Fran, Becky and Rachel were my birthday buddies this year, and we were pleased to learn we were only paddle boarding around the harbor. We were fairly sure had they let us in the ocean, we would be shark bait. Fran and Rachel were strong and managed not to fall. Becky fell after attempting paddle board yoga, and I ate it at the pier when our leader, Sean, said, "Here! Take the paddle and I'll pull you onto the pier." So I grabbed the paddle and he forgot the whole part about pulling me up. I did the splits, dragged my foot down the muscle covered wall, and hit the water while Becky laughed. Good friends laugh at your face rather than behind your back. Becky is a true friend, through and through.
I had such a great day with them. I love those girls and am thankful Wes gave me a day off to enjoy the beach with them.

The tale of the dead pigeon
So we went to the Santa Monica Pier with my Aunt Sue, and the kids were thrilled. After some games and rides, we sit down to eat in a pigeon infested patio. One pigeon climbs on the shoulder of a patron, and his friend sort of shooed the bird off. Instead of flying away, it fell to the floor with a THUD. Literally. Just falls. Twitches slightly, then lies there dead. The patron looked so guilty, as if he'd just shot Lassie or something. The lice infested bird just lays there next to our table, while we do the only thing we feel inclined to do, which is laugh hysterically. I don't know if it's genetic or what, but I have a knack for laughing during inappropriate moments. Funerals. Weddings. Church. I just get the giggles and apparently so does Robby. (See Below)

My computer crashed the day before my birthday. It was time for an upgrade. Wes took me to Best Buy and I walked out with this bad boy. What a difference.
