life of a single mom...

My amazing and hardworking husband traveled to Florida for work. He will be gone for 4 weeks...lets just say it's an experience. Besides the two years he was on his mission, we have only been apart 2 nights since dating. I sure miss him and the boys often say that they miss their dad. We have a count down chain and are looking forward to his return October 21st!

The last of the nielsen kids went on his mission! Farewell to another Uncle off to serve the Lord.

Our little girl is 15 months old and full of fun! She loves getting into mischief. She discovered climbing a few months later than the boys and it has sure been nice. But she is now a climbing machine and loves feeling like she's on top of the world!
This little Sunbeam came home from primary with a missionary badge and thought it was great! We sent this picture to his 3 uncles serving missions.
The day before Ammon left we played a lot and ammon took the time to teach them about clouds with a short funny video on a very cloudy day.
Short get  away to the cabin

We used birthday money from grandparents and got a year long subscription to abcmouse.com. Jackson knows how to control the mouse and the boys love doing the games, activities and movies. They are learning a lot. Jackson will tell me facts about the Golden Gate Bridge and the grand canyon. They love showing me the funny movies about letters or holidays. It gives me a breather and I am glad they have this instead of watching movies everyday.
I Love this picture! It's our first single date, back in July 2007.

Family is growing!

Another Baby Girl will Be joining our family. We are Due December 10th. I am excited to have two boys and two girls side by side to be each others best friend!
My youngest brother left on his mission! All these nieces and nephews are going to miss him, but what a joy it is to have a family member serving the Lord for two years. In September, Ammon's brother leaves for his mission. For a full year my kids will have 3 uncles out on missions.

 My view each day....
These two are best friends! And I really mean that. They make being a mom fun!

My little Girl Turned 1 and started walking at 13 1/2 months. It is so fun seeing the difference between a boy and girl. She sure makes me smile on days when its not easy to fake smiles.

My Life!

I wouldn't trade my calling as a Mother for anything. But in all honesty I run around half the time in my pjs, house is a mess, kids need a bath (but they will just get filthy the next day so maybe I can put it off another day), My family dinners are simple and quick (because realistically my kids only eat 5 bites then are done, so why prep for dinner all day when they are finished in 5 minutes...)
Here we are, alive and well. Baby girl is learning to crawl! She wore a helmet to shape her noggin for 7 weeks and we now enjoyes rubbing her head and kissing her forehead more. Denver turned 2 and Jackson loves being the big brother of the house.

Ammon found me like this after he got ready for work. All 3 kids climbed into bed and I fell back to sleep :)

Some laughs and some tears

This little girl has learned to laugh and blab in her own language. She is sure an amazing baby and makes our family happy!

We attempted potty training little Denver at 20 months. When emmalyne was 6 or so weeks old he starting refusing diapers and wanting to sit on the toilet. I wasn't ready to potty train so we waited two more months then tried it out. After a week of progress he shut down and decided he didn't want to work at it anymore. refusing to sit on the toilet. I was frustrated, Denver was frustrated and after many days of fighting we called it quits. I have asked if he wants to sit on the toilet and it is a "no" answer every time. I feel like he thought it was going to be really fun, but then when he realized it took work he opted out. Jackson was potty trained by 2 1/2 so I am in no rush with Denver. We will try again some other day! hopefully before he's 5!
Whenever emmalyne cries, Denver rushes to her and says "sorry emline" He has made her cry enough times that he thinks its his fault every time she cries. Poor guy has been a trooper learning about being soft and kind to his baby sister.
Emmalyne has survived 4 months with two big brothers. And we are thankful our house is small enough I can hear everything that's going on, so I can keep a close watch over baby sister.

cute moments: Denver cross legged eating cereal and a sleeping angel
Jackson LOVES having a baby sister. This boy LOVES getting a pillow and blanket and snuggling up to baby sister and pretending to take naps together. He is looking forward to picking her up and moving her around the house by himself. Not quite there yet...
Outdoors fun. This week the weather finally cooled down and the boys can now spend most of the day outside.
watching the rain fall and captured the perfect picture of what  I look like every day- ponytail, tshirt, and on a good day real shorts. most of the time bball shorts or workout pants. thanks life and I don't mind :)
We got a new cousin! 2 months apart and look NOTHING alike!
We went fishing! Ammon was off with the boys and Emmalyne and  I were watching the polls. I was swaddling emmalyne in my arms with the poll wiggled and I reeled in a fish with one arm. Emmalyne was my helper and she was excited to catch her first fish!

Hello and Goodbye

This month Ammons sister returned from her mission and my brother left. Changes are in the air! The boys now share a room which is making Mom crazy as I teach them to sleep and not play during nap time. Emmalyne can now smile and is not getting sat on by Denver as much :) Heres some photos of our last month of life!

Family reunion. We loved being outdoors for a few days!

BLESSING DAY

 Emmalyne wore my blessing dress
family photo taken aug 2nd, Emmalyne is a tad more chunky now

Ammon is now a Masters student. Online. And I get to improve on my getting kids to bed skills. Ammon is doing school locked away in our room 5 nights a week...hopefully no one goes crazy as he juggles YM leader, work, 3 kids, a wife, exercise and school.
Grandparents in town for Dannikas return
