lyla's haircut

corey's auntie cuts my boys hair but for some reason lyla has refused to let auntie cut her hair...maybe it's because every time she watches grant get a haircut he screams the whole time. i finally convinced her that princesses cut hair and that she could get a princess haircut just like rapunzel got her hair cut.

so we headed to princess marcee's salon to get a trim.

before.
(granted her hair is sleep hair...we didn't do it before we left so she looks double homeless.)

back.
(check out that hand on hip action. such a little diva.)

she sat like a statue the whole time. didn't even peep one time until we left and she told marcee, "fanks" {thanks}.

after.

she looks so cute with her haircut. i almost feel like she is older now that she has a real haircut and no more feathers for hair.

oh yeah, if your 3 year old asks why princess marcee doesn't wear a crown while she cuts hair, just tell her that it would fall right off if she wore it at work. (can't believe she bought that one.)

handsome grant

i don't want grant to feel left out of the blog love...plus after going through my pics i realized that i have a gozillion pictures of him because he is so incredibly adorable (not that my older kids aren't adorable too but he's my baby, you know.)

just a few words about this little terror. he loves to accessorize. any chance he gets to throw on some sunglasses or a headband, necklaces or shoes, jackets or bracelets, hair clippies or fuzzy socks, he goes for it all. i need to go get some "manly" accessories or else he'll be wearing mardi gras beads for the rest of his life...any suggestions??

i love the way he runs. i love the way he lays in bed in the morning and yells, "ma, dahd, ma, dahd, ma, dahd" over and over until we go get him. i love his red hair and his equally outstanding personality. i love his love for accessories, it's cute. i even love the way he says, "ah boop" after he has pooped his pants. he is just a sweet little terror in our house.

here he is in all his cute cuteness:

he's such a cutie.

kaleb's 6th birthday

i can't believe that kaleb is six years old. he is such a fun kid to have around and we love his spunk.

here he is covering his face because i showed up at his school to bring treats and take pictures and embarrass him on his birthday.

opening his presents. he got lots of good stuff.

the kids have all been begging us for pillow pets and grandma and grandpa shelley came to the rescue and got the pillow pet. he loves it, sleeps with it every night.

check out the mario cake. he asked for a mario cake and i told him not to get his hopes up. but thanks to macey's he got what he wanted!

look at his sweet mug.

he is a good boy. the only time i have to get after him is when i want him to stop playing mario on the wii. he is a smarty pants at school and the most exciting thing for me as a parent is watching him learn and grow and know all these things that i think he shouldn't be old enough to know. he is soooo sweet and kind to his brother and sister and they love him.

we all love this kid.

lyla's 3rd birthday

time is sure going on by. lyla had her 3rd birthday in january. she is getting so big and she is turning into quite the drama queen. we love her around here for sure tho!

we headed to jumpin' jacks with some cousins in the afternoon.

here she is ready to start opening some presents.

all she wanted was a pink cake. so that's what she got.

grandma g. gave her a music/jewelry box for christmas in 2009. she of course loved it to death by ripping the dancer out and then kaleb twisted the music thing to death and grant ripped the cover off...so grandma got her a new one for her birthday and she has promised to take better care of this one!

sweet kaleb helping her open her gifts.

her tea set that she loves!

after her party she got to go with corey and i to the byu basketball game to watch a little jimmer action. she was so good for the first half...

...and the second half she figured out how to take pictures on my phone. i had about 100 pictures of this:

she is a sweetheart and she is so smart. she is a good sister except when grant is being mean to her. she loves to play with friends and cousins and she loves watching barbie movies (ack!) and she can hardly wait for tangled to come out on video so we can watch it a million times. she tells me that i am her best girl and of course she is my best girl too!

can't believe she is 3.

snow fun

we've had fun this winter playing in the snow. grant is old enough to go out with his brother and sister. it's the best. they usually would head out with me to shovel the driveway. they were pretty good helpers!

please ignore their wind blown cheeks and runny noses.

kaleb's teeth

the dentist did a panoramic picture of kaleb's teeth...i took a picture of it with my phone so that i could look back on it every once in a while to remind me to start saving my pennies for his orthodontic work.

here is the scary x-ray.

kaleb's bottom teeth were loose but weren't coming out because the new teeth coming in were blocked by the next teeth....long story short, the dentist says that kaleb needs to have his 4 bottom middle teeth pulled. i was sick to my stomach. kaleb could've cared less. he was like, "ok. should we do it right now?" we scheduled an appointment and i explained to him with no sugar coating what was going to happen. he was still just like, whatever.

here we are on the way...

i tell him the tooth fairy will bring him 4x the "stuff" she normally would. he is excited. i am sick at this point, so nervous.

they give him happy gas (i wish they'd have given me some!)

the doctor comes in to give him the shots and kaleb sees the needle, giggles and says, "heeeyyy. watcha got there." he numbs up and the doctor pops those teeth out like they weren't even attached. kaleb still doesn't even care about what's going on. i about pass out because there was some blood, ew.

and the end result...

bottom vampire teeth! awesome!

it literally was the next day that both of his adult middle teeth popped in. i think this poor kid is in for a life of pulling teeth out so the new ones have space to grow in. wish me luck!

christmas 2010

i have about 150 great pictures from our christmas holiday. it was hard for me to choose just a few...and by a few i mean like 25 photos. these are just some of my favorites.

kaleb and his cute cousin tyler. they were so funny with these hats and ribbons all night long.

at the gapp adult party we played a little minute to win it...this is corey and my mom trying to get m&m's into their mouths on a pencil. no one got it in under a minute...i don't think anyone got it at all. corey was pretty determined and he had my mom laughing as you can see. it was a fun party!

santa always visits the shelley family party and this kaleb anticipating santa's arrival. he is airborne in this pic. he was so excited he couldn't hold still.

lyla with grandpa scott patiently waiting her turn on santa's lap

santa sang some silly songs and let the kids wear some of his hats. they loved it!

another one of santa's hats.

lyla was so cute and timid on santa's lap. she told him just what she wanted and they took her present and ran back to grandpa.

kaleb was so much fun this christmas...he was like, "mom take my picture with santa did you get a picture mom did you see he brought me a present when can i open it did you take my picture was it a good one maybe you should take another." he made christmas such a blast for everyone!

and grant was NOT happy about being forced to sit on santa's lap...

he finally wriggled his way down and ran back to corey. too funny!

this is all the kids watching the santa tracker on the computer. they watched this thing for about half an hour straight, which is a long time for this bunch! (look and mandi trying to play on her ipod in the middle, just letting the kids jump and walk all over her. she's a good sport!)

every year i try to claim the coveted seat by the fireplace. it is so cozy and warm there. corey's little brother tj usually beats me to it so i have to wait for him to get up so i can steal it!!

lyla got some rapunzel pj's. she luuuuuuuved them. this could have been her only christmas present and she would have been happy.

kaleb in mario pj's. so cute!

grant in his doggy pj's. he is such a cutie boy!

snuggles for mom. notice grant's pink socks. he is obsessed with them and searches for them until he finds them and cries for me to put them on him. it is too funny!

lyla's loot from santa.

kaleb's loot from santa.

grant's loot from santa.

happy grant (still wearing the pink socks!)

happy lyla (she wanted a pink kitchen and barbie's)

happy kaleb (he wanted mario stuff and this stunt set)

about 10 minutes after seeing all their toys the room looked like this and only got worse as the day went on.

it was a great christmas! hopefully our kids loved it as much as we loved watching them enjoy the holiday!
