climbing

we took kaleb rock climbing last weekend.  he was so excited to go and then he saw the wall we wanted him to climb.  it was big and tall and "sceery".  they have cute harnesses for little kids and even climbing shoes.

before seeing the "sceery" wall.

then...kaleb sees the wall climbs up about 8 feet...looks down...and says he is done.  i went with them expecting only to be the designated picture taker.  but corey really wanted kaleb to be brave so i got a harness and shoes and climbed up right next to kaleb.

we made it a race to see who was faster.  i would climb a little and then tell kaleb where to put his hands and then just wait.  it took us about 15 minutes to get all the way up.  my arms were killing me by the end of the night.

here is kaleb after touching the top.  he is waving down to his dad.  oh yes, and that is my butt.

me on the way down.

corey promised him a slurpee and some candy if he made it up.  i think was the only thing that kept him going cause he was pretty scared to be so high (about 50 feet up).  but you ask him now and he is so proud.  most convos go like this:

grandpa: kaleb did you go rock climbing?
kaleb: um yeah. i'm brave and i climbed all the way to the top and i got to go to the treat store.
grandpa: you did!  you are such a big kid.
kaleb: yeah. and brave too.

it was such a fun night!  i am glad i was talked in to going with them!

{10 months} of baby

things lyla loves:
hair pulling, messing up brother's toys, eating food off the floor, big, open mouth smiles, people food (as opposed to baby food), sleeping in her own bed, waving hello/byebye, making sheep sounds, bath time, and other stuff...

we love this girl!
she is ten months old today and getting so big and so smart...and as you can see...so toothy!  besides all those giant teeth she already has she is getting two more on the bottom next to the others and i just noticed the other day that she is getting a molar in the back that is already almost all the way through!  i say oh sakes to all those teeth...slow down baby!

'tis the season

first of all...dang you blogger!  dang you for loading my pictures in the opposite direction in which i requested...whatever.

anyway, kaleb keeps asking us if it is christmas yet and we just kept telling him that it can't be christmas until we put our tree up.  so after days of him begging to put up the tree, we acquiesced.  up went the tree and the train...which has been "loved" to death and it has only been up for 4 days!  our tree is looking haute!  sorry, no picture of the full tree though as it is nicely decorated on the top and a scantily clad on the bottom two feet...only unbreakable, shiny snowflakes are down there to be chewed by baby.

kaleb doesn't quite understand that there are so many days left before christmas.  so i decided we would make a chain so that we could rip off a link every day in hopes that would help him get the idea that christmas is still a long way off...
...well we made the chain, and then he asked me, "can i rip it all up right now and then santa can come and bring me toys?"  i tell him no and that we only get to rip off one circle every morning after a sleep.  "oh" he says, "i am dus' going to look out the window to see if it is snowing yet so santa can come."  he sat by the window (in a sun beam...no snow) for a full 20 minutes waiting for snow.  hurry christmas.  please visit us soon!

the christmas train.

a little taste of the tree.

p.s. not to be overlooked...Happy Thanksgiving!!

a letter

to my dear baby jayne:

i love you.  you are cute. and cuddly. and squishy. and smart. and very kissable...almost edible.

but...there are a few things you should know:

1. shoes are not for chewing
2. carpet is not for sucking
3. toilet paper is not for eating
4. hair is not for pulling
5. neck skin is not for pinching
6. yogurt is not for spitting
7. shoulders are not for biting
and
8. garbage is not for touching

please make a mental note of each.

love, (as you call me) mamamamamamamamamamama

p.s. i love you

corey's little sis mandi had a little talent show for primary the other day...she didn't really want to participate unless lyla could dance with her.  lyla, always eager to comply, was all for it!

lyla is getting pretty big...i think everyone there was ready to jump in case it looked like mandi was losing grip on baby.

thanks for letting her dance with you mandi.

new do

i chopped a few inches off this week.  and i think i like it.  no more hair pulling from lyla...she can't reach it nearly as well.  yay for new the new hair do.
(not the cutest pic of me but the cutest one of lyla!!)

halloween 2008

favorite picture from halloween this year:
kaleb and his cutie friend haley trick-or-treating...kaleb didn't get excited about it until he and haley started trick-or-treating together!

this is the only picture i got of lyla in full costume garb.  as you can see i am restraining her arms so she can't get to the hat.  she wouldn't leave it on for anything.

wearing grandpa g.'s glasses.  she did, however, keep these on for like 3 minutes.  why not the hat, huh?

kaleb's brown horsie costume.  i kept asking him if he wanted to be spiderman or a pirate, etc.  "no, dus' a brown horsie."

kaleb and haley.  we get to our 3rd house trick-or-treating and kaleb says, "i'm all dun."...then he sees haley running from door to door...and he changes his mind.  thanks haley!

lyla riding on daddy's shoulders.  we are mean parents.  we didn't even get her a bucket for candy.  she's not going to eat it, why would she need a bucket?

for a person who really doesn't love halloween, i think it turned out to be pretty fun.  good food, good candy, goodbye halloween.  until next year!!!

preschool parade

last thursday all the kids in kaleb's preschool class got to wear their halloween costumes and do a cute little parade for all the parents.   the weather was so beautiful that we got to do it outside!

all lined up getting ready to start the parade. (kaleb looking a little terrified)

the parade starts. everyone moves but kaleb.  his cute friend sean comes back for him.  stage fright.

the whole class with kaleb at the end of the line.

he finally gets the hang of it...and then it ended.  gotta love preschool!

{9 months} later

i am so behind on my blogging.  i even forgot to get a 9 month post for sweet baby.  she is getting so big.  happy nine months!
