How about you you you?
You can come too too too.
We're going to the zoo zoo zoo!
Janessa's kindergarten class went to the zoo last week. It was a miserable rainy day, but the show must go on. Here's the obligatory picture by the ape house.

Janessa and Jonah were the only ones who were interested in dying eggs this year. Janessa took her task quite seriously, as you can see. I enjoyed it, too.
On March 19, I took Cassidy and her friend Harmony to the Riverton Walmart for the New Moon release party. Earlier in the day, I had called the store to ask what was going to happen so I could get a timeline and plan how we were going to do this. I was told they would be handing out tickets at 4:00, so I got there around 3:45 or so, and started looking around to see where I needed to go. I immediately saw a roped off area with a lot of girls and women lining up. I got in line, thinking that we would just be getting tickets, then I would be able to go back home and come back later in the evening.
Oh no.
This was The Line. The Line to get the autographed DVDs, and The Line to see the stars. There were rumors that Taylor Lautner was going to make an appearance (SQUEEEEEEE!!!!) so there was no way I was going to step out of The Line. I was the 48th person! Plus, Connor, the nice Walmart employee, let me have 2 tickets, which was against the rules because I was there by myself. I begged and pleaded that I needed one more ticket for my daughter, so I ended up with the 48th and 49th tickets.
I had totally come unprepared to stay there. I left Cassidy in charge at home, I hadn't planned dinner, things were still up in the air at home and with Harmony.... I was stressing. The lady in front of me was stressing out too, she wasn't prepared to stay all evening either. We came up with a plan to save our spots in The Line: I would run home, pick up Cass and Harms, bring them back to "camp out" in The Line while this lady saved our spot. Then she would be able to go to her ward dinner while the girls saved her spot. It worked out great, and Cassidy and Harmony had a blast hanging out for a few hours till I was able to come back to be with them.
They were interviewed 6 times, and were on tv! I won a Team Jacob shirt (which goes against everything that Cass and I believe in... LOL) and we had a fun time hanging out with all the crazy fans. I tell ya, I lilke Twilight and all, but I am NOT as into in as some other ladies were. Holy Shmoly.
Some of them were outright nutso! Do I dare say... Obsessed? Crazed? Psycho?
Around 9:00, they led the whole line into the front of the store where they had the stage set up. We filed in, and got a spot right up at the front of the crowd. We stood and waited for 2 hours. Ugh. We were getting restless and hot, plus the crowd kept pushing us forward against the baracades. I stood behind the girls, trying to keep them from getting squashed, but no matter how firmly I would plant my feet in one spot, I was still getting pushed forward. It was kind of scary at times!
At 11:00, we finally got to see the stars. Michael Welch, Justin Chon, and Christian Serratos walked in, waving to the screaming crowd. They went into the back room to sign all the DVD covers. That took another hour... ugh! When they finally came out, they sat at a table, and prepared to meet and greet everyone. We were able to go see them in groups of 5, and we were rushed through so quickly. Christian is so pretty! Mike was really funny, goofing off and joking around with the crowd. And Justin was just so hyper and acting crazy.
We had such a great time that night. We were exhausted by the time we left at 1:00 am. We were bummed about Taylor Lautner. We heard that we was scheduled to be there, but his manager cancelled at the last minute. Ehhh... who knows how true those rumors are. We were told there was 4,000 people in the store that night. It was outrageous, but so much fun to be part of the hype!
*sniff*
I caved today.
I've had a few comments (ahem... you know who you are) about how long Micah's hair was in the back. I didn't want to cut his hair, because once you cut it, there's no going back. They turn into a little boy when that cute wispy baby hair is gone. But I did it. I bit my lip, blubbered into my tissue, and snipped away. He was pretty good sitting in his chair while I cut, but I decided to finish the job at Mom's house because she has the good thinning sheers for the blending part. I guess he'll start the new year off with a new do.
The During.....
This is at Grandma's house, isn't he cute in his tux cape?
I took pictures of the kids' teacher gifts this year. They turned out so cute, and they were a big hit. I had Tom cut some 3 inch square blocks out of scrap wood, then I decoupaged a picture of the school's mascot on one side, and stapled a tear off calendar on the other side.
Christmas Eve at our house...
