We're going to the zoo zoo zoo....

How about you you you?
You can come too too too.
We're going to the zoo zoo zoo!

Janessa's kindergarten class went to the zoo last week. It was a miserable rainy day, but the show must go on. Here's the obligatory picture by the ape house.

Tiger.... he wasn't very interested in us.

2 of the cutest animals I saw that day.

Awwwww... baby elephant!!

Happy Easter!

Janessa and Jonah were the only ones who were interested in dying eggs this year. Janessa took her task quite seriously, as you can see. I enjoyed it, too.

These were my eggs that I painted.

Letting the eggs dry. Two cracked. :(

New Moon Mania

On March 19, I took Cassidy and her friend Harmony to the Riverton Walmart for the New Moon release party. Earlier in the day, I had called the store to ask what was going to happen so I could get a timeline and plan how we were going to do this. I was told they would be handing out tickets at 4:00, so I got there around 3:45 or so, and started looking around to see where I needed to go. I immediately saw a roped off area with a lot of girls and women lining up. I got in line, thinking that we would just be getting tickets, then I would be able to go back home and come back later in the evening.
Oh no.
This was The Line. The Line to get the autographed DVDs, and The Line to see the stars. There were rumors that Taylor Lautner was going to make an appearance (SQUEEEEEEE!!!!) so there was no way I was going to step out of The Line. I was the 48th person! Plus, Connor, the nice Walmart employee, let me have 2 tickets, which was against the rules because I was there by myself. I begged and pleaded that I needed one more ticket for my daughter, so I ended up with the 48th and 49th tickets.

I had totally come unprepared to stay there. I left Cassidy in charge at home, I hadn't planned dinner, things were still up in the air at home and with Harmony.... I was stressing. The lady in front of me was stressing out too, she wasn't prepared to stay all evening either. We came up with a plan to save our spots in The Line: I would run home, pick up Cass and Harms, bring them back to "camp out" in The Line while this lady saved our spot. Then she would be able to go to her ward dinner while the girls saved her spot. It worked out great, and Cassidy and Harmony had a blast hanging out for a few hours till I was able to come back to be with them.

They were interviewed 6 times, and were on tv! I won a Team Jacob shirt (which goes against everything that Cass and I believe in... LOL) and we had a fun time hanging out with all the crazy fans. I tell ya, I lilke Twilight and all, but I am NOT as into in as some other ladies were. Holy Shmoly.
Some of them were outright nutso! Do I dare say... Obsessed? Crazed? Psycho?

Around 9:00, they led the whole line into the front of the store where they had the stage set up. We filed in, and got a spot right up at the front of the crowd. We stood and waited for 2 hours. Ugh. We were getting restless and hot, plus the crowd kept pushing us forward against the baracades. I stood behind the girls, trying to keep them from getting squashed, but no matter how firmly I would plant my feet in one spot, I was still getting pushed forward. It was kind of scary at times!

At 11:00, we finally got to see the stars. Michael Welch, Justin Chon, and Christian Serratos walked in, waving to the screaming crowd. They went into the back room to sign all the DVD covers. That took another hour... ugh! When they finally came out, they sat at a table, and prepared to meet and greet everyone. We were able to go see them in groups of 5, and we were rushed through so quickly. Christian is so pretty! Mike was really funny, goofing off and joking around with the crowd. And Justin was just so hyper and acting crazy.

We had such a great time that night. We were exhausted by the time we left at 1:00 am. We were bummed about Taylor Lautner. We heard that we was scheduled to be there, but his manager cancelled at the last minute. Ehhh... who knows how true those rumors are. We were told there was 4,000 people in the store that night. It was outrageous, but so much fun to be part of the hype!

Waiting for the stars!

Andrew's First Crush

He's 3. And he's already crushing.
We struggled with Andrew going to nursery since October, so we didn't press the issue because we knew he'd just have to start in a new primary class when January came any way. So, at the beginning of the month, after lots of talking about going to his new Big Boy Primary Class, we took him for the first time. There was much weeping and wailing, and many tears and sobs, mostly from Andrew. ;) The first week was not so good. I talked to his teachers, who are 2 young ladies in our ward, and both are just so pretty and so nice. I explained the problem we've had, and said that we're going to have to give him some tough love so he'll stay in class.
The next week, we gave his teacher a snack cup of Cheerios, kissed him, and waved goodbye with a smile. He calmed down after a few minutes, and each time I'd peek in, he was sitting happily on his teacher's lap. This, I suspect, is where it all began.
He was very excited to go to primary yesterday. I walked him into the room, he was slightly hesitant, but found a chair to sit on. I checked on him after Sharing Time started, and yup.... he was sitting right next to his pretty teacher.
In the bath this morning, I was talking to him about primary and how proud I am of him going all by himself and not crying for Mommy or Daddy. I asked him if he liked his friends in his class, and if he had fun. He answered "yes" and then said "I like my teacher, too. She's pretty, Mom."
I swear he blushed a little.

Big Day

Yesterday was a big day for Cassidy. She got her braces off and she looks so cute! She's had them on for 21 months, which ended up being slightly longer than the 18 months the orthodontist estimated. She's been counting down the days since December. Her gums are still a little puffy and red, and she says her teeth feel "slimy" across the surface. She'll get her retainers next week, then go back in another month for a follow up check.

I'm so proud of how responsible she was while she had her braces on. She took care of everything by herself. She had a special mouth rinse that she had to use, she wore bands at night, she always made sure to brush after each meal, even at school. She didn't eat anything that was on the naughty food list, and there were a few times that I had to drop her off at the ortho so she had to go to the appointment by herself. She's just so independent!

He's a Big Boy Now

*sniff*

I caved today.

I've had a few comments (ahem... you know who you are) about how long Micah's hair was in the back. I didn't want to cut his hair, because once you cut it, there's no going back. They turn into a little boy when that cute wispy baby hair is gone. But I did it. I bit my lip, blubbered into my tissue, and snipped away. He was pretty good sitting in his chair while I cut, but I decided to finish the job at Mom's house because she has the good thinning sheers for the blending part. I guess he'll start the new year off with a new do.

Here's the Before.....

The During.....
This is at Grandma's house, isn't he cute in his tux cape?

And the After.....
What a handsome little guy.

Teacher Gifts

I took pictures of the kids' teacher gifts this year. They turned out so cute, and they were a big hit. I had Tom cut some 3 inch square blocks out of scrap wood, then I decoupaged a picture of the school's mascot on one side, and stapled a tear off calendar on the other side.

Christmas Report

Christmas Eve at our house...

Here I am again, updating after taking a month break from blogging. :)
Christmas was amazing this year. We had so many parties to attend and to host. We had many opportunities to spend time together as a family, and we enjoyed every last minute of it. The kids were in school till the 23rd (yes, the 23rd!), and they are off track till January 26th. A full month of having all of them home. I'm looking forward to it, in a way. But I'm NOT looking forward to the bickering and constant chaos that seem to be present whenever they go off track. At least they all have new toys to keep them busy.
So, here goes... for Christmas we got a Wii for the family. It also came with some other accessories and games, I don't know what specifically though. I guess I better get acquainted with the thing. It has taken up residence in my family room. The kids are all so excited about it, and it has been played a lot in the past 24 hours.
Cassidy got lots of teenage girl stuff. Some jeans, a Justice shirt, a makeup mirror, various Twilight stuff (2 games, calendar, pillow case, journals, perfume), iTunes money, an Old Navy gift card, a watch, a turquoise bolster pillow, a backpack, some books, socks, and slippers.
Seth got several space posters for his room, yugioh cards, books, socks, Jenga game, a puzzle, jammie pants, Bakugans, a Nintendo DS with accessories and a gift card to go buy some games.
Jonah got space posters also (the boys share a room), yugioh cards, socks, books, GI Joe figures, jammie pants, a Nintendo DS with accessories and a gift card to buy games.
Janessa got a fun scrapbook set with lots of stickers, a bike helmet, a Swim to Me Puppy, some books, a purple rug for her room, a "J" pin, a Nintendo DS with accessories and a gift card to buy games.

Andrew got a big Spiderman pillow, that he absolutely loves, some socks, an aqua doodle mat, a Fisher Price construction set, some art supplies, a hilk towel, a Safari play set, some pants, and a hippo flashlight.

Micah got 3 cute shirts, a walk and ride toy, a puppy that talks, some diapers and wipes (LOL... more for me than for him, I guess!), a Diego Swiss army knife, a bowling set, and some pants.

This is what's called a melt down, my friends. When Daddy can't get the toy out of the box fast enough, Micah just can't deal with it!
Andrew's Hulk towel.
DS X 3

It was a very very nice Christmas, we are so blessed. The big hits were the Wii and the DS's. the kids were just so excited when they opened them. Santa was very good to our family this year.

We had a yummy Christmas dinner at Grandma's house, then went to Great Grandma's house for dessert.
