Well, I am officially the worst blogger ever. The only reason I can do really do it right now is because my sweet mother in law is holding our little Christmas present.

Baby Grant was born five days early on December 15. The labor, delivery, and entire experience was amazing! We are so happy and so incredibly blessed. I'll tell you about his birthday day soon.

I just had the good man put the pictures from my phone on the computer (since we are the only people in the world without smart phones) so I have a few belly pictures to show you.
I think I left off somewhere around 36 weeks.

36 weeks.

37 weeks.

38 weeks.

38 and a half weeks.

39 weeks and 2 days.
This was about 3 hours before my water broke. I knew I felt kind of funny and saw myself in the mirror and thought I should snap a picture. Little did I know we would head to the hospital about 2:45 in the morning and welcome the bambino at 1:13 that afternoon.

Headed home.

We are so in love and I appreciate all of the happy thoughts and well wishes we've received.  God is good!

33 Week Update

Pregnancy Highlights
November 2, 2012
How Far Along: 33 Weeks

Size of baby: He is about the size of a durian. (according the The Bump). What is that anyway? My book said a pineapple and I like that one better.

Maternity Clothes: Everyday.  I can still wear some of my regular shirts that are longer but the end might be near. Luckily, my obsession over sweater-cardigan type things has been helpful.

Gender: Still a healthy kicking little boy who's name is officially...Grant!

Movement: Quite the mover! He loves to lay up in my ribs which isn't really so fun for me. He rolls around and jabs occasionally and seems to be doing great.

Sleep: Last night I slept on the couch with my big pillow and finally got some rest!

What I miss: Good sleep, heartburn free days, being able to breathe, bending down to pick things up, and pain free ribs. Haha!

Cravings: I don't think I've really had any cravings but things still taste really good. I'm loving ice cold water and orange juice and cereal with cold milk tastes amazing for breakfast.

Best Moment this Week: The checkup on Tuesday. The heartbeat is strong and the belly is measuring right on track for 33 weeks and the due date is still about December 20. This whole things is really starting to seem real and I love it! It's fun to actually call him Grant and his room is coming right along!

Here are some pictures.

I love this one! I have to say...that pumpkin looked a lot bigger in real life than it does next to my belly. Haha!

You Give and Take Away

Sorry but no pregnancy updates tonight. I have a lot on my mind tonight as today marked the one year "anniversary" of losing the baby last year. It was a weird day kinda. It wasn't something that consumed me but it was something I thought about. Life is one roller coaster of a ride, isn't it. My day was spent driving back from the most wonderful trip to Little Rock (I do wish the good man could have gone though. He was the only thing missing. Well...and Rooster.) Yesterday, was our first baby shower and my heart is overflowing. I never really used to understand that phrase but I think I get it now. We were showered with love and gifts and hugs and well wishes and I am so very thankful that life goes on. I had random thoughts throughout the weekend like, "This time last year I got "the call" from the doctor" or "Today we had that ultrasound...just to make sure" or "I was checking into the hospital right now." It was almost insanely ironic as I was surrounded by my family and we discussed and loved all over our little 30 week happy, healthy, wiggly, Baby Borin inside my belly.

Throughout the whole thing last year I leaned onto the song, Blessed Be Your Name. I didn't understand. I was hurt and confused and numb to a lot of things but I tried to sing that song though it all. Eventually I almost got to where I couldn't even listen to it anymore because of all the memories that flooded back. The good man said it best a few months ago that the song almost seems like an old friend now. Today, as I was driving back it was pouring down rain and the sky was black and I was thinking that this was about the time last year that we were finishing up at the hospital. I turned up the radio just in time to hear the beginning of the song. I'm not kidding when I tell you that the rain stopped. The sky cleared and I was through the storm...seriously. It just stopped. I had made it through. The song is still painful...but so comforting. I looked in my rearview at this black storm and then through my windshield at this sunny road ahead and it was quite a moment for me. It is such a metaphor of this past year and a great reminder that God is there. As I felt this little guy jabbing in my ribs (OUCH!) I couldn't help but realize that my life seems to have come full circle. I am so blessed with a husband who loves me, a little boy on the way, family and friends who care about me and a God who was right there-even when I didn't realize it right away.

I will try to post some pictures from the shower soon. :)

26 Week Update

Pregnancy Highlights

September 15, 2012
How Far Along: 26 weeks and a few days.

Size of baby: He is about the size of a head of lettuce (according the The Bump).

Maternity Clothes: No changes. Still loving them. Still wearing the husband's shorts and T-shirts at night. They are a million times more comfortable than mine right now.

Gender: Still a healthy kicking little boy.

Movement: He is becoming a little jabber. He wiggled all around during conferences last week and a good friend at work finally got to feel him! Seeing my stomach move with the jabs is crazy and amazing all at the same time.

Sleep: Not so good here lately. (Cue the violinist). I've been getting heartburn when I lay down and I wake up several times to go to the bathroom or to switch positions. I still love the pregnancy pillow though. Rooster does too and I catch him snuggled up in the curve of it sometimes.

What I miss: Being able to stay awake after supper.

Cravings: I can't think of anything specific but when food sounds good to me it sounds really good to me.

Symptoms: Funny things like stopped up ears that sound like  I have a bucket over my head. it really makes it hard to sing in church when there is an echo in your head. Haha!

Best Moment this Week: Picking up our crib and assembling it tonight! (For the record, I did nothing but watch the crib as it was being assembled.) I went to a friend's baby shower today and there were seven of us there who are pregnant.

Here we are in order of due dates. Being third in line freaks me out just a little bit.
December will be here soon!

Ocean, I hear your call.

Last weekend, we took advantage of the three day weekend, and headed to Ocean Springs to see my brother and his girlfriend.

Thankfully, they didn't have any hurricane damage and we made it there safe and sound late Friday night.

They made us cinnamon roll pancakes (which were delicious) and took us around their town. It was so fun to catch a glimpse into their little ocean life right now. We did lots of things but we didn't take any pictures until the last night.

We went to see the church where The Mississippi Squirrel Revival was shot. If you've never seen this Ray Stevens video, do yourself a favor and catch it here.

We drove over the bridge to Biloxi a few times and had seafood and went to the Casino. Haha!

We went to the beach on our last night there and happened to catch a really pretty sunset. The little man really kicked a lot all weekend! It was so fun to feel him in different spots-like the side of my stomach.

Check out some pictures the good man took.

Our little family of 3 (but not for long!)

Rooster LOVED the beach. He didn't know digging could be so fun.

Pretty!

A bump!

He decided to go out in the waves and I may or may not have had a borderline freak out moment.

24 week (and a few days) belly.
This made me grin because it is the first time I've seen the belly in "real life"
without trying to take a picture of it. :)

24 Week Update

Pregnancy Highlights
August 30, 2012
How Far Along: 24 Weeks today.

Size of baby: He is about the size of a cantaloupe (according the The Bump).

Maternity Clothes: No changes. Still loving them.

Gender: Still a boy.

Movement: He is still quite the little kicker. Especially at night after I eat dinner.

Sleep: Still pretty good.

What I miss: Reading to my kids after lunch and not getting short of breath. It is seriously the weirdest thing...I'm guessing it is because of lunch and recess and just being full. Maybe it is because I'm reading from a chapter book and their aren't as many picture breaks?

Cravings: I can't think of any.

Symptoms: I could really be a whiny pregnant woman here but I'll try not to be. Let's just say we rang in 24 weeks this morning with some leg cramps, a sore back, and a sore stomach. I have been completely exhausted the past two days. I mean, I have been dead! Growth spurt from the little guy, maybe?
(How about some cheese with that whine?)

Best Moment this Week: Noticing my belly when I look down. I feel like it has really popped which is fun.

In other non-pregnant news: We are supposed to head to visit my brother in Ocean Springs, MS tomorrow. I really hope the weather cooperates. I'm so excited to see him and his girlfriend! Sorry this has turned into a pregnancy blog. As you can see-I only really get around to posting once a week and that happens to be the weekly updates.

23 Week Update

Pregnancy Highlights
August 26, 2012
How Far Along: 23 Weeks and some days.

Size of baby: Baby B. is about the size of a grapefruit (according the The Bump).

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I  don't really know. Enough.

Maternity Clothes: Still loving them. I also like that I can still wear a lot of my normal dresses.

Gender: A boy!

Movement: The good man finally felt him! He got to feel a good jab, too. The little guy has been moving a lot. He was pretty wiggly during church this morning and a concert at the Summer Shade Festival tonight.

Sleep: Pregnancy wise, sleep has been great! My Firsties and I had a pretty gross cold last week that made it hard though.

What I miss: Coffee in the mornings while I get ready for work and a mug in my hand while I stand at my door greeting my kiddos. Decaf and water just aren't the same.

Cravings: I can't think of any.

Symptoms: Occasional back pain and my stomach aches a little bit after a long day of walking.

Best Moment this Week: A lot of things went well this week. The 23 week checkup was fun. The little guy's heartbeat was strong and was music to my ears. We cleaned out the guest room and it is slowing beginning to look like a baby's room. Kind of. Oh, and we found a crib! We found a beautiful one (in great condition) from Craigslist and the people live right in our neighborhood. We will pick it up later this week.

23 Weeks.

This has nothing to do with Baby Borin...but I just came across it and it made me smile.  This is from a camping trip at the beginning of the summer.
