Great Wolf Lodge and Beach Trip

Our great friends were having a birthday party at their beach house in North Carolina, so we decided to make a long weekend out of it and spend a night at Great Wolf Lodge on our way to North Carolina.

The first afternoon at Great Wolf, Maddie had fun playing in the kiddie pool and going down the toddler slides in to the water.  The next morning, we took her on the larger inner tube rides and she loved them!  She is so adventurous.  Nate can't wait for her to get big enough to ride big rollercoasters with him!

Micah really seemed to like the water, too.  He liked to sit in the wave pool with me and ride the lazy river.

Ready for storytime

Micah was there too!  But he was either asleep or in the water with me and no camera!

We spent a lot of time hanging out in the hotel rooms because of naps or on account of our
early wakeup times.

Nate enjoyed some snuggle time on Father's Day

We joined our friends on Topsail Island Beach for some fun water, sand and sun time and a pig roast in the afternoon.
Micah's 1st trip to the beach!

Happy Father's Day!

The pig!
Micah had two other little guys to play with.  Our big boy was the youngest by a few months, but he was taller and outweighed them!

Micah tried out a jumper
We had a great time and can't wait to take the kids back to the beach, Great Wolf Lodge and other waterparks when they are a little older.

Trip to Phoenix

Micah had his first airplane ride at 4 months when I took the kids to Phoenix for 12 days in April.  Our flight there was at bedtime and Micah slept most of the plane ride, but Maddie didn't fall asleep until we landed. She also stayed awake the whole flight home!  They were long flights, but overall I had a good flying experience alone with both kids.

Here are the highlights of our visit.  It was the first time that Micah met a lot of his relatives, so they were all excited to hold him, especially his 3 year old cousin, Beau!

We also captured some great family group shots.

Micah is 4 months old!

Yesterday, we had Micah's 4 month check-up and the doctor said that he looked great!  He was 15lb 12oz, which put him in about the 57th percentile, and he was 27" long which was the 97th percentile.  He is definitely going to be tall!

Micah is rolling over from his belly to his back. In fact, he hardly has any tummy time because he rolls over every time I put him on his belly!  And he is very close to rolling over from his back to front.  He has found his hands and enjoys putting them in his mouth and he is grabbing toys to put in his mouth. He is also discovering that he can reach his feet to his mouth.   He has developed good neck strength and is keeping his head up really well.  He's very chill, unless he's really tired or hungry.  And he's such a sweet little guy!

Micah is becoming very aware of his sister and she is becoming more interested in him.  She will get down and play with him on the floor and, last night, she climbed in his crib with him before bath time totally on her own to keep him company.

She also wanted to help during his bath and climbed right in!

And when I wanted to take his 4 month photos, she wanted to be in them.  It's so hard to get her in a picture these days, let alone with Micah.  I must have taken 30 pictures and she smiled in every one!

We just got back from 2 weeks in Phoenix, so I'll write about it once I get through the hundreds of pictures!

Helpers and a Second Birthday!

After the Jensens visited, my mom (Grammy) came to help us for two weeks, followed by my Aunt Gail (Gigi) for a week.  We were so thankful for the help around the house, help with Micah and especially for the playmates for Maddie.

Also, Maddie turned 2 while Grammy was visiting.  We decided to go out to a Japanese steakhouse for dinner with friends instead of having a party at home.  Maddie was excited to open all of her birthday presents, which included a lot more Dora the Explorer stuff.

There was an open house at the restoration hangar that Nate built at the Air and Space Museum, so we enjoyed seeing his hard work and a section of the museum that is usually closed to the public.
