Only later i found out that the program was divided into 3 zones; North (Perlis), South (Melaka) & West (Labuan). This was due to the overwhelming number of papers being presented. last yr twas 78 papers, 68 were chosen for the final. this year, twas more than 100+. No wonder the distribution. Thus, wit previous practice as having the R&D supervisor of each college to be in charge of a room each, 7 fr the host part, is a 'bearable' number. Albeit several committee had 2 go to & fro the college now n then esp in dealing wit d technical/appliances issue.
Anyway, wats amusing was dat thruout the sessions, familiar faces came 2 me n wish me "good luck", "all d best" etc. Hehe.. my gratifyin answer was "Oh, i didnt do any paper dis yr *sheepishly smiling*" . & my answers to their "Oh, but Why?" were either "No more lah"/"I need a break for a while"/ "im on a 3 yr hiatus"/"im still traumatised by it all" depending on the level of familiarity. kihkih...
Somehow, i admit, at some moments during the sessions, i actually wished dat i was 1 of the presenters..*sigh* i even came 2 d notion dat my 3 yr hiatus (now 1 yr alredy) mite b shorten to 2 yrs :p But then again, dat is, if the force is wit me..n the now-grp members of course ;) *winking at RI, RS, STA & SHAM*
i only managed to go 2 a couple of English paper sessions. d ones fr d college whose presenters r WKS & FF, good job to em! :) Unfortunately, i didnt manage 2 go to Ms. Phoon's session as i was on duty dat time. i was quite intrigued by Liyana's presentation. Why? because she had actually done a research on metacognitive in teaching n used the title 'Thinking about Thinking' (partly, me thinks). dat was d title suggested by a facilitator during one of d R & D courses. Probably the one in Cititel Xpress Hotel..I totally agree wit the points during d presentation. Most Students dont really think/reflect nowadays...they r too comfortable wit copying/merely accepting wats in front of them. So, the technique used was a practical n good start.
oh, abt d accommodation.. hm, nothin much 2 say.. quite ok by me.. few switches x work at all, only 1 functionin tv channel, unadjustable air conditioner in sum rooms, may b some didnt like to look at d windows n see only tall trees surrounding them.. but i'd say its quite peaceful there. watsmore they were only attending 2 us under BMKPM at dat time. n i saw sum toolguys/technicians wer repairing/fixing things aroun, so, some improvements wud hav taken place in d future.
Now, the so called Contextual Visit- we went 2 the Sc. of Aliens exhibition at MITC, Melaka. it's not really an extraordinary experience but it's different n interesting. They emphasised on the 'scientific, educational & interactive' experience of it all. i'd say it's compacted. The stuff were brought fr London.
Afterwards, we went 2 Melaka Mall n some went 2 JJ, actually some requested to go to JJ as they had gone to MM the night before :P i bought a book (when 2 read it??*argh*). Finally we hungout at McD n headed back 2 the bus by 6.30pm. The looks on ppl's faces that were looking at us boarding the kolej bus were quizzical. haha...KMM bus brought ppl to tour at MM n JJ??! there??! hehe...of course it may hadnt cross their minds that the bus were bringing visitors fr outside... :p
